  1. At least you won’t be forcibly removed from a bar anymore, for requesting to put the Twins game on.
  2. I was wrong. But you were not quite correct. (kidding). If the arbitration panel had reduced Pineda's suspension in time for Pineda to serve the reduced suspension before the season ended, then Pineda would have been eligible for the postseason through an exception per Joint Drug Agreement 7.H.2. at the very end of that paragraph. Here was the post I was thinking of. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/34800-front-page-michael-pineda-suspended-60-games-for-banned-substance/?p=911565 If Pineda had dropped his appeal, he would not have qualified for that exception, even if he had completed serving the suspension before the season ended.
  3. I assumed that too, when the news came out, but someone in an earlier thread corrected that to say they are eligible. Guess I'm not sure then.
  4. I'm wondering if Pineda had just dropped his appeal, served his suspension, if he wouldn't be back on the field already and ready to prove himself in the playoffs and be ready to go spring training with a respectable MLB contract. All those years on the Yankees, and he never made a post-season roster. Hard pass for 2020.
  5. Great call to bring up Graterol. Posters here were too quick to dismiss him after his previous outing. I’d like to see either Garver or Cruz at DH until this is clinched. I hope Cruz’s wrist is in decent enough shape. Marwin took BP this week so I’m counting on him being close. Backing up Berrios by a day also puts him better in line for a Game 1 ALDS start Thursday. Now close it out, fellas!
  6. Agree—they are effectively eliminated, unless they go on a Rockies ‘07 win streak starting with their next game.
  7. I don’t think the Phillies are mathematically eliminated, but they are pretty close to needing to “win out” at this point. A great week for the Twins. I’d like to see the regulars playing as much as possible this week.
  8. With Buxton entering in the top of the 9th, that bottom of the 9th was the first half-inning since August 1st that Rosario, Buxton and Kepler have been in the outfield together
  9. Yesterday was the first time since August 11 that the Twins have lost a game on the same day Cleveland won. Despite the hiccup last night, the Twins are still taking care of business.
  10. I’m just glad they are taking advantage of the expanded rosters. Seems like in previous years they only called up a couple of guys.
  11. I combined “Treated by Indianapolis Colts trainers, 10-1” into a parlay, with “Buxton announces retirement right before American League Division Series, 2500-1”. Wish me luck! (haha). I will think fondly of you all in my retirement!
  12. That was a great play in the third. Sano batting, steps out of the box and tries to call time out, time out not granted, pitch comes, Sano steps back in and laces it to the shortstop who boots it, Sano winds up on second base with an RBI.
  13. On the other hand, if that’s the guy you want and he wasn’t expected to be available at your next pick, then there’s a case to just take him regardless if it’s at 13th instead of hoping he makes it back around.
  14. This exchange was right after Texas clinched the 2011 ALCS in Game 6. FOX Interviewer: Ron Washington, aren't you happy you didn't have to pitch to Nelson Cruz this series? Washington: I was very happy. But if I did, I probably would have thrown him breaking balls! Be warned, you will have to forward to the 3 hour, 55 minute mark to get the quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFj7t2IXx9M
  15. waaay too early for this sort of concern. Lots of guys have struggled with their first taste of pro ball. I searched Nelson Cruz and Max Kepler. First two players I picked. Turns out Cruz struggled and struck out a lot. Then, Kepler didn’t hit his 2nd home run until his third season of rookie ball. I think the only concern for a kid this young is to get him adjusted to a new lifestyle.
  16. Moderator note: A friendly reminder not to challenge the patriotism of other posters here, or their expressions of patriotism, or try to turn this into a politics debate.
  17. Sounds like the ruling was changed to credit the proper pitcher. I won’t say I disbelieve you, but I’ve got to side with all the other posters. It seemed unprecedented for that scorer to go against the plain language of the rulebook, unprecedented certainly in any past Twins games, or I think more people would have had a recollection.
  18. I’m so tired of people bringing up the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911 every time something goes wrong!
  19. Francona has called for more sacrifice bunts in the past three days than I think the Twins have all season, and that’s maybe not an exaggeration. Again, bunting to advance runners is not the percentage play, even when it works. In most cases it’s been shown to be little more than giving away outs. Some of those outs would have been hits or walks and it’s bound to cost the team a few wins over the long haul.
  20. Colorado Rockies run in 2007 was big, too That wasn’t really a blown lead, but more like a team playing their way in to the postseason. They went to the WS but lost
  21. You teed this up for someone to hit out of the park, but no one took a swing. Those two walks were issued to Ryan LaMarre and Lucas Duda.
