  1. I forget that baseball players are selected, above all else, for their public speaking skills.
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6384227/2025/05/27/twins-lose-to-tampa-bay/
  3. Those players will need to improve at the plate to hit .300 in MLB. If they were already good enough to hit .300 in MLB, they wouldn't still be in Double-A. If a 22-year old player hits .330 in Double-A then he has a chance to improve enough to hit .300 in MLB. If a 26-year old player (like Sabato) hits .290 in Double-A, then he's probably not good enough to hit .300 in MLB. The majority of players max out their talent ages 26-28. After that, declining athleticism starts chipping away at performance.
  4. I don't know why anyone would prefer Larnach over Wallner as the leadoff hitter. Wallner gets on base. Royce Lewis should be batting 9th right now. Wallner, Correa, Buxton, Larnach, Bader, Clemens, Jeffers, France, Castro/Lee/Lewis/Bride I think about flip-flopping Correa and Bader but I'd trust their career numbers.
  5. This is for the All-Star Game, not the Boring Mediocre Player Showcase.
  6. Yes. Do you know how hard it is to hit .300 in the majors right now? There are only 14 qualified players with an average > .300.
  7. Crazy stat from the MLB.com recap. Since the Twins acquired Kody Clemens he has out-hit both Judge and Ohtani (over the same time period).
  8. Fedko probably deserves a AAA promotion at some point this season. He's getting regular playing time at Double-A and that's probably more important.
  9. That's roughly equivalent to .193/.298/.378 in MLB.
  10. The lighting must be awful in Tampa. The players on TV are so grainy that I feel like I'm watching on KMSP over rabbit ears like when I was a kid.
  11. Bride can pinch-hit for Wallner or Larnach in a platoon matchup. If they pinch-hit for Lewis (and they should often) he can come in to play 3B on defense.
  12. I disagree with the assertion that Royce Lewis is healthy and able to contribute.
  13. Is Arcia any better than Brooks Lee?
  14. I think Wallner could provide the big boost they need. The positions that have underperformed the most are 3B, 2B and 1B. Lewis can play a helluva lot better than he's playing right now. Castro and Lee haven't been great at the plate but they're doing a lot better than Lewis.
  15. I guess I'm not that impressed with a player at a bat-first position hitting .250 with mediocre power and no walks. Ty France would be a plus contributor on offense if he was the catcher but not as a first baseman. You can pretty much multiply his current stats by 3 to get a good estimate of season totals. That would give him 140 hits, 24 2B, 12 HR, 30 BB, 90 K. That seems adequate, not "crazy good". One interesting thing I noticed - he has 8 HBP vs 10 BB. He is able to get on base by leaning into a pitch. His production in May (579 OPS) has dipped from April (745 OPS). If he doesn't bounce back, he'll be replaced before the season is over.
  16. I don't think "fans" like that even enjoy baseball anyway. I'd rather not have them at the games. They'll turn every run scored by the other team or error by a Twins player into a situation where they boo and act like jackasses to draw attention to themselves.
