Then there's Austin Martin who plays 2B and LF but doesn't have terrible platoon issues.

Julien is sitting there as well. I do wonder how many of their current infielders will still be in the organization after the trade deadline. I expect to see position players traded off the roster to acquire pitching.

There's the possibility they play Kansas City in the playoffs and that is a bad matchup for Ober. Pablo Lopez is not having a great season overall. There is room for another starter in the rotation.

Good work on the radio announcing sub as well.

I like that Kikuchi gives them a different look for playoff matchups. This roster is weak for lefthanded pitching talent.

If there aren't any good prospects left in the minors then the Twins shouldn't care a whole lot if they trade them away.

We'll stop as soon as Woods-Richardson stops pitching well, which I hope is never. The key to a ROY season is putting it together for a whole season. We'll see if all the players you mentioned can sustain their success.

I think Texas will be very motivated to shed $15M and get under the luxury tax. They can sell impending free agents Heaney, Lorenzen and Scherzer and still have Eovaldi, Gray, Mahle and deGrom for the rotation.
  9. DJL44
Eovaldi would cost about $8M for the rest of the season. They should hope his $20M option vests because it is very tradeable even if they decide not to keep him.

Kirby Yates is worth mentioning as well. It is no surprise that the defending champions have a lot of talent if they want to sell.

Abstain, I only get to watch the nationally televised games.

He's getting that based on a contract he signed years ago when he was performing better. The $4M the Twins are paying Margot is a much better indicator of his current market value.

I don't think any reliever should be on the All-Star team. I'll make an exception for bad teams without an obvious representative and Mariano Rivera.

    Thank goodness
  15. DJL44
Please, no. We've already seen the best years of Max Kepler's career.
  16. DJL44
About $8-12M per season because he can catch the ball.
  17. DJL44
Somebody should tell him because he seems unaware of that.

Sometimes it takes some adversity to get a player to make the necessary changes.

He can pitch. His stuff is not overwhelming but he gets outs with good command and changing speeds.
  22. DJL44
Batting .276 when he's not pinch hitting. Subtract his pinch hitting and he's had a decent season.
  23. DJL44
I suppose he could be a Twins Hall of Famer but he doesn't have much of a resume. He's never been an All-Star. He has two AL Player of the week awards in 10 seasons. That's about it. He's been a solid player but I don't think of him as a Twins all-time great.
  24. DJL44
They needed a corner OF and Wallner fits the description. They can platoon him with Castro and Margot. Larnach looks pretty average, which is not a bad thing at all. Not sure where to look up Kepler's numbers over the same stretch but he didn't have a good June. The Twins have too many position players (they have 4 guys who could start at 3B for most teams) and not enough pitching. A trade should happen.
  25. DJL44
Wallner and Julien will be terrible platoon players vs LH pitchers which is what the Twins are paying Margot and Farmer to do.
