    It doesn't have to be either/or; it could be both/and. The Twins could have made games available to a channel to show them over the air and/or on cable with a non-exclusive license and still allow people to subscribe to MLB.tv for streaming. In fact, this is what they had Cory Provus tell everyone they were pursuing this offseason. Instead they negotiated an exclusive broadcasting deal with a station that can't even get the games on TV because that put the most money in their pocket in 2024. BSN thought the exclusivity would mean the big cable companies would have to pay whatever they asked but obviously Comcast assessed that there isn't enough demand for Twins games that they are worried about the subscribers they will inevitably lose. I'm not sure if Comcast is really worried about "losing" subscribers. They see the overall trends and know their future is as an internet service provider rather than a cable company.

    That's too far down. He's only been in St. Paul a couple weeks. I think he can work through the problems at that level if they give him some time.

    That may be true but I can't fathom why. You can get all the other non-sports programming (plus a lot of other, better programs) on streaming much cheaper. Based on the comments above it sounds like cable is for people who can't figure out how remote controls work. Enjoy it while it lasts, cable is likely to end by 2030 if not sooner.

    I agree with this. The Twins went out and said BSN would be carrying Twins games this summer, keep your cable. They didn't say it would only be for the month of April. But don't blame the cord-cutters for this mess. It's entirely the fault of MLB that they have priced their product so high that I'd rather substitute other things for my entertainment. I haven't watched Twins games regularly for years and now I'm not sure if I would still want to do that. It probably helps that I grew up without access to the Twins on TV so it's more like nothing changed in that regard. There was a brief window where I could see the Twins on television and now that's a fading memory.

    Buxton may not be an MVP but they're only paying him like an average CF so I think people may just need to adjust their expectations.

    Yes, the consumer is always wrong and Twins fans should be happy to pay $150/month to watch the games (and continue to pay that during the off-season) as the cable companies jack up the price every year. I'm so sorry I knowingly and deliberately determined I'm not willing to pay that much.

    Wow. So, after the Timberwolves are done the cable companies are all telling BSN to take a hike? Twins fans must make up such a small percentage of their viewers that they don't care anymore about losing them. The Twins should be absolutely terrified by what is happening.

    The Texas League isn't that big and it's divided further to keep travel at a minimum. He starts repeating teams in the middle of May. If you want him to see more pitchers he'll have to go to AAA by mid-June.

    He's arguably the best player in the Texas League. No problem with platoon splits, he hits everyone. He needs better competition soon. He also probably needs to play more often in RF as I don't see them moving Buxton.

    The difference is: 1+1+1 = 3 1-1+2-1+2=3 The baserunner allowed gives the subsequent out more WPA value.

    What you're noticing is that WPA is a really bad accounting system.

    Executives are paid to say one thing and do another. At the moment the salary dump alone is a win for the Twins. I wasn't joking when I said Polanco for DeSclafani was a net win and we haven't even seen the best two players in the deal (Topa and Gonzalez) contribute yet.

    Looks like Kyle Farmer is actually healthy which makes his April look even worse. I was hoping he would head to the injured list when Correa returned. I don't expect Martin to be stuck in AAA very long. He's the next man up when someone else gets injured.

    I already took out all the pitchers. Taking out players who spent time on the IL is nonsensical - you can't be a full-time player if you're stuck on the IL. That would make Byron Buxton a full-time player in 2023. There were 23 players who missed less than a week of the 2023 season, less than one per team. 13 position player spots * 30 teams = 390. 23/390 = 6%. If I add back in the pitchers and all of the position players who played at least one game we're at 23/1457 or 1.6%.

    6% of the players play > 156 games. 94% of the players don't. The average is less than one player per team. That's not "plenty" but then we're back to trivial nitpicking again.

    I guess my point is, who cares if a player is "full-time"? Nobody plays 162 games anymore. If a player is "full-time" and not productive that's way worse than a player who is "part-time" and extremely productive.

    The Twins only had 5 players with more than 75% games played in 2023. Correa led the team with 83% of games played. Did they not have any full-time players?

    I am hoping Kyle Farmer has been playing through an injury which would partly explain his struggles to date. I think the pitchers would be back already if they were desperate for relievers. They should wait it out with Topa to see if someone else gets hurt before they have to bring him back. Topa has an option if they need to use it. If not, it's probably Bowman.

    You wish I wouldn't quote you in my response? Separating the SS as the position and the hitter would make sense if this was fastpitch softball and there was a FLEX position where you could use someone just for defense. It isn't. When people talk about prospects they're talking about the player's entire contribution. Miller is all-glove, no-bat and he's hitting worse for the Dodgers repeating A-ball than he did for the Twins last season. His ceiling is futility infielder. It is easy to find guys like that at the league minimum as free agents. He was also signed out of high school which means he'll probably be a minor league free agent before he makes his MLB debut. As a prospect he has almost no value to an organization.
