  1. So, you're opposed to nationally televised games? There's going to be a game for free on FOX this summer. Is that a pain for you as well? More free, nationally televised baseball games is better in my opinion.
  2. Looks like it is blacked out in the Twins viewing area.
  3. Some days I'm surprised the people who post here are able to login to TwinsDaily.
  4. Because you can only login to one streaming service? They're free! This is about as hard as changing the channel is for cable.
  5. So bring up the Roku website on your laptop and stream to your Apple TV or Chromecast. This seems way easier than you're making it out to be. Cable is a 50-year-old method of delivering the games that requires special equipment and an expensive subscription. That seems WAY worse to me than streaming a free game over my Wi-Fi.
  6. You have two massive TVs and no way to cast video over the Wi-Fi in your house? That seems really odd to me for 2024. I suggest buying a $20 Roku streaming device on Amazon. I use mine all the time to stream my daughter's college softball games from the college website to the TV over my home Wi-Fi. In this case, however, you could just plug in the Roku and use it to stream free MLB games every Sunday.
  7. The Roku Channel now available for free on web!
  8. It has nothing to do with the statistics. Every sport has complicated statistics now.
  9. I think they already did. Chart: Is Baseball for Boomers? | Statista
  10. I cut the cord many years ago so I'm happy that I can watch a few games. I'm willing to make the games that are available appointment viewing. I hope to see all 3 Apple TV games, the FOX game and these 3 Roku games. That only adds up to 7 but that's still more games than I watched for the Vikings, Timberwolves and Wild combined in the past year. I think tomorrow's Yankees game is supposed to be available on Amazon Prime but I don't know if it will be blacked out. I'm also excited that there will be a free, nationally televised game available every Sunday at noon. They brought back the Sunday game of the week on free TV. I have no complaints about that.
  11. Alcala is pretty unproven. He's pitched 11 innings and walked quite a few batters. Cole Sands looked like a shutdown bullpen reliever... until this weekend. None of Alcala, Sands, Funderburk or Staumont are a sure thing so the Twins will use options as needed.
  12. When I see someone ask a question in the headline I expect the article to have some answers, not more baseless speculation.
  13. MLB is coming to Roku at noon on Sunday for the rest of the season for free! Twins will play on the following Sundays: 6/2 vs Houston 7/21 vs Milwaukee 9/15 vs Cincinnati If they put This Week in Baseball on before the games that would be perfect.
  14. Miller is a year older than Doncon so the comparison isn't exactly the same. I would hope Miller would improve his hitting when he repeats the same level as last year. Your guess is as good as mine as to which one develops into a big leaguer. The odds are against both of them. The trade was one player who is unlikely to contribute in the big leagues for Manuel Margot and a different player who is unlikely to contribute in the big leagues.
  15. There is so much volatility in outcomes for prospects that I think a general manager needs to be evaluated on their trades like a portfolio manager and with respect to the league as a whole. Everyone will have an individual stock that they made a bad decision on but if you're providing as much or more value than an average portfolio manager then you're worth keeping.
  16. I'm pretty sure Willi Castro would be a better fielding 1B than Santana but 1B is not a glove-first position, it's a bat-first position.
  17. Doncon is basically equal to Miller as a prospect. Miller has a platinum glove and a lead bat.
  18. They're not going to use Keirsey as a RH platoon bat because he isn't one. They also need to stay with Martin long enough that he can learn a little on the job. You can't give a rookie two weeks, demote him for a different rookie who gets two weeks and repeat ad nauseum. Think of how much Julien improved over the course of the season last year. I don't think that would have been the case if they had demoted him whenever he had a bad game. I agree that Martin hasn't been good, but he also hasn't been that bad and he's not the worst performing OF on the roster.
  19. Keirsey could be a pretty good guy to have as a backup to Buxton. When Buxton is healthy Keirsey can play for the Saints and when Buxton is on the injured list Keirsey can play CF for the Twins. Handedness doesn't matter in that situation so much and Keirsey is the strong side of a platoon since he bats LH. Keirsey has 3 years worth of options remaining if the Twins want to use him that way for the next few seasons. I don't think this has much to do with Margot since they aren't using him in CF anyway. They aren't going to bring up Keirsey to play corner OF with Larnach, Kepler, Kirilloff, Castro, Martin and Wallner ahead of him on the depth chart.
  20. The unusual thing about the bullpen is how ineffective they all were. It's hard for that many people in a row to have a bad day.
  21. You shouldn't care about WPA. It completely ignores defense and assigns all of that value to the pitcher. It is a bad accounting system.
  22. It has to be hard for Varland. As a starter, he's not good enough to make the rotation but he's too valuable as depth to convert him to relief and keep him in the big leagues. I hope they're not wasting his best innings of his career in AAA.
  23. Also wrong here and would love to keep being wrong. Give some credit to Rocco, some teams would have fallen apart with a start like that.
  24. This is the time of year when AAA is mostly has-beens and AA has the real prospects. Injuries have depleted the pitching depth in AAA but teams are hesitant to move the younger guys up as they build up innings. If this is true it's important to take offensive numbers at AAA with a grain of salt. Drop 150 points from the expected OPS in the majors.
