  1. Carlos Santana is not going to get 5% of the vote to stay on the ballot.
  2. Greinke should be a 100% lock. What other pitcher is going to be on the ballot and have a better resume? He will be the best pitcher on the ballot by a wide margin until he's elected or until Kershaw/Verlander/Scherzer are added to the ballot. I don't see how voters would turn him down for 10 years. I would put Bryce Harper in the "90% there" category. Yelich could make it if he plays to age 40. I agree that voters are going to need to adjust expectations for pitchers. Nola, Wheeler and deGrom are in the next tier down but won't have any traditional milestones.
  3. Chris Sale should be considered 90% there. I wouldn't vote for Jansen or Kimbrel. Carlos Correa is on pace but could decline.
  4. Free game of the day on MLB.tv for those out of market non-subscribers.
  5. I don't see the Twins as traditional buyers at this deadline but there will be an opportunity to make trades. They might swap veterans for veterans with another contender or swap young talent for young talent since they are a bit overloaded on position players compared to pitchers. If they're just looking for a rental lefty reliever they should be calling the Marlins. They seem to like trading with the Reds and Marlins.
  6. Love that the Twins got an All-Star from Detroit for nothing.
  7. Someone's getting traded. Castro also plays the infield pretty well. Martin plays OF/2B. Kirilloff and Keirsey are also in the org in addition to Severino. Some of that will thin out next season when Kepler, Margot, Farmer and Santana are gone but there's still enough MLB ready position player talent to trade someone for pitching.
  8. I love that unexpectedly good health from Byron Buxton is overshadowed by many other good developments.
  9. They want Julien to be the starting 2B. They have Miranda and Santana for 1B. Julien's last 4 weeks in AAA => .291/.467/.468. His last 5 games .353/.476/.941. He's heating up.
  10. I am excited to watch a game this weekend and I would like to watch more of them. When do you think the Twins will make their games readily available to their fans who don't want cable TV?
  11. Their lack of TV coverage is killing attendance. Out of sight, out of mind.
  12. The rainout was pretty convenient timing for the Twins bullpen
  13. You don't have to ignore 2023. If you assume that 600 OPS is his true talent level he's a perfectly fine 2nd catcher because of his defense.
  14. If you vote, show your work.
  15. Thielbar got a break from June 12 to June 20. Since then he has 6 straight scoreless appearances and has given up 1 hit to his last 20 batters. His last 3 innings he's faced the minimum 3 batters in each inning while striking out 4 of the 9.
  16. Texas is expecting to add Mahle and deGrom to the rotation soon so they have the ability to deal away a starting pitcher or two without affecting their rotation depth. I think they will be motivated to dump $15M worth of salary and get under the luxury tax threshold. I think Scherzer, Lorenzen and Robertson will be gone at the deadline. They would still have Eovaldi, deGrom, Mahle, Gray, Heaney and Dunning for the rotation.
  17. Look over what comparable players made last offseason and you get Joc Pederson at $9.5M with a $14M option and Jayson Heyward at 1 year $9M. I don't see Kepler doubling those contracts and I definitely don't see him getting double that on a 4 year deal. Who wants to bet big on 35-year-old Max Kepler?
  18. Matt Wallner hit .173/.253/.387 off of lefthanded pitching in AAA with 4HR in 83 plate appearances. They probably avoided showing his 34 strikeouts against lefthanded pitchers (41% K) in the highlights.
  19. Correct, Martin was actually the "LH batting" half of the platoon before he got injured. They really don't need four LH hitting corner outfielders (Larnach, Kepler, Wallner, Kirilloff) on the roster, especially when Martin and Castro hit RHP just fine.
  20. Margot and Farmer and Kepler will all be gone next year at the latest which will be awesome since there will be nothing for anyone to complain about on Twins Daily.
