  1. So you think Rocco should play a bad hitter even more often because he's been hitting poorly?
  2. Yes. Through some miracle of pitch calling or game plan or whatever they coaxed a great start out of Louie Varland. Don't push it too far and watch it blow up in your face.
  3. Enjoy the games. A meetup could be fun.
  4. I think the Twins are still hoping that Matt Wallner is their big bat and Pablo Lopez is their ace pitcher.
  5. Miranda has the job right now. He'll still be around next year.
  6. If Woods Richardson maintains his performance for a whole season he'll get some Rookie of the Year votes.
  7. I think they need to get the bat more than the starting pitcher. Bats are cheaper as rentals than starting pitchers which means I'd be happy to obtain a rental bat. JD Martinez is just a DH at this point in his career but he's a lot better than what the Twins have been using at DH. Brandon Belt is still waiting for a contract after absolutely destroying RHP last season.
  8. I think they need a LH bat who can be 1B/corner OF with some pop. Santana and Miranda should be enough from the RH side and Margot has been doing the job lately as well.
  9. It's especially bad when the LH hitting part of the platoon (Kirilloff, Julien) has a bad year. You can't put together two below average hitters (Kiriloff & Margot or Julien & Farmer) to make an above average hitter.
  10. He has 800 MLB at-bats with an OPS+ of 102 and he's been protected vs LHP for most of his time in the major leagues. This might be about as good as it gets for Kirilloff.
  11. Good point on Martin. If they're just looking to replace Farmer he's a more likely player to promote to occasionally play 2B.
  12. Lee getting promoted means Correa is injured. He's 4th on the depth chart at 3B (Lewis, Miranda, Castro, Lee) and at 2B (Castro, Julien, Farmer, Lee).
  13. It's a huge negative against Kirilloff. His job is to crush RHP and he's not doing it. Castro makes the lineup because he can play defense almost anywhere. Kirilloff and Santana are in the lineup to hit and they can't hit better than the utility infielder. That's a problem.
  14. He's a switch hitter who is weakest as a RH batter. Bringing up Lee to be the RH platoon caddy at 2B makes absolutely no sense.
  15. I would swap him with Lee. With Kepler leaving the Twins need Emmanuel Rodriguez more than they need SS/3B Lee who is blocked by Correa and Lewis. That said, there are no untouchables, just different levels of unlikely. This team shouldn't be buying much at the deadline which means the top 3 tiers are all unlikely to be traded.
  16. It isn't that difficult to find a RH hitting 2B/3B, that's basically the default for the position. They're paying Farmer like he can still play SS but that's a sunk cost now. I know Brooks Lee keeps getting mentioned but he hasn't played any 2B at all (only 1 game at Fort Myers) and he's not a RH batter so he doesn't make any sense for Farmer's role. They seem to want Lee to be insurance for Correa or Lewis instead. Plus, he has a 530 OPS in AAA at the moment.
  17. A .690 OPS is basically league average. A team can always handle a league average bat if it comes with premium defense.
  18. It is ironic that a "City Connect" themed uniform would highlight loons and sunsets over lakes, "MN" and the outline of the state and lots of other things that have little to do with the Twin Cities. The "TC" cap is more "city connect" than these uniforms. Can we call them the "City Disconnect" uniforms?
  19. It's been 5 starts. I assume he will be a candidate for the Futures Game. They can promote him after that.
  20. City connect uniforms make me glad I listen to games on the radio
  21. The backup QB fallacy at work again. If the Twins want to improve the major league roster it won't be with a minor league utility player. An 840 OPS in AAA is pretty unimpressive. Take 200 points off for a back of the envelope estimate and you would expect a 640 OPS in the majors. That's after the inevitable adjustment period that happens when players see major league pitching for the first time. There may not be a lot to lose (besides a playoff spot) but there's nothing to gain.
  22. Not called for. We both misunderstood what you were trying to say. I still don't understand it. This isn't on him, it's on you not making your point.
