  1. Not all minor leaguers are available during the minor league portion of the draft.
  2. Minor league portion Twins select Trent Baker RHP from the Cardinals, Miguel Briceno SS from the Brewers, Jefferson Valladares C from the Dodgers. Twins lose Taylor Floyd to the Mariners,
  3. I assume they'll move him to the bullpen in 2025. The velocity and stuff could get even better. They'll have to keep him and Ronny Henriquz on the roster all year.
  4. No Twins selected in the MLB portion of the draft
  5. Negotiating that extension makes Falvey look really good at his job. Lopez is very likely to get a qualifying offer and generate a draft pick in 3 seasons. That's exactly what they should be doing - keep the pitcher until age 31, get the draft pick, and let them go to free agency. Hopefully they can do the same with Ryan and Ober.
  6. That would be a great deal for the Twins. Bernardino is useful, cheap and has several years of team control.
  7. Better pitchers will be available as minor league free agents
  8. The years help keep the luxury tax number low.
  9. What makes you think Paddack will be healthy in August?
  10. If he's really doing well until that age and the team is doing well enough to keep him, you slap the qualifying offer on him and get a draft pick back like they did with Sonny Gray
  11. The Twins have players as good as these guys in their own minor league system.
  12. The national TV deals will get worse if they have fewer teams. Contraction will cede even more attention to NBA and MLS.
  13. An empty threat. Expansion is more likely than contraction.
  14. He got a promotion to AAA. That's the promotion people get when they do well in AA. He was playing against kids on average 2 years younger than him. If he had only been average offensively at that level, he probably gets released. We'll see how he does at AAA this season. If he can improve a little more he will have a chance to make his debut.
  15. We saw last year with Margot (and earlier with other platoon bats) that it is impossible to hide a player so they never see RHP. McCusker might be fine to give an opportunity as plan D or E but he can't be Plan A.
  16. He had an 841 OPS across AA/AAA last year. That's not that great.
  17. Possibly, but that means he won't sign until very late, possibly into February.
  18. Tiant would be a worthy selection to the Hall of Fame. Too bad his selection would be too late for him to enjoy it.
  19. They can't afford him. Your statement here is wrong: He actually turned down a guaranteed $6M to trigger a $1.75M buyout Outfielder Randal Grichuk turns down option with Diamondbacks, becomes free agent | FOX Sports He's going to expect at least $6M in free agency. For that money I'd rather keep Willi Castro.
  20. Miami has the same size TV market as Minnesota. They're a medium market for size but not a good market for baseball. MLBs best expansion targets in the US are Portland, OR; Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; San Antonio, TX. Those are all roughly as good as Pittsburgh and Baltimore.
  21. With Carson Kelly signed they're basically all gone. Any team who still wants a catcher can get Thaiss from the Cubs or call the Twins.
