  1. I will take Jose Miranda over a guy who didn't even play in the majors in 2024. Remember Miranda? He had the second highest batting average on the entire team. Then Brooks Lee plays 3B every day and Miranda is your DH? That is defensively a push and a downgrade for the lineup. Would you move Miranda to 3B? That's a defensive downgrade and a push for the lineup. According to who? The team liked him so much at 1B last spring that they signed 97-year-old Carlos Santana and moved him to LF. This I agree with. Their best option at 2B is Willi Castro but then they're going to have to use Brooks Lee as the utility guy. They desperately need another outfielder who can catch the ball and hit well enough to stay in the lineup. Defense has to improve at 2B and in the OF. Move one of the less athletic hitters to DH. Eeles is not a major league SS. He's a second baseman or bust. He's also never had anyone scout him to find his weaknesses. There is a benefit to being overlooked and underestimated.
  2. Julien is probably next on the depth chart, then Severino. I would watch the waiver wire.
  3. You have no utility infielder, no 2nd catcher, a gaping hole at 2B, two first basemen and a 5th starter very likely to be worse than Festa because nobody else in MLB wants to use him a starting pitcher. Plus, you threw away Topa and Castro instead of trading them. What was the point of all that?
  4. Because he's 4th (or lower) on their depth chart, getting expensive and his prime doesn't look to be anything special. The Rangers will lose most of their rotation from last season (Eovaldi, Scherzer, Heaney, Dunning) and they will probably trade Jon Gray.
  5. In 2023, Miranda was injured and couldn't hit the ball even in AAA. He started the season as the team's primary 3B. If they hate his glove so much, why has he had so many starts at 3B? That's a more difficult position defensively. It doesn't make any sense to say, "We don't trust this guy to play 1B, let's play him at a more difficult position instead". He didn't start at 1B much last year because Lewis was hurt, and Santana wasn't.
  6. He was bad defensively at 1B in 2022 but his numbers in 2024 are just fine. He's still bad at 3B.
  7. Just go here: 2025 Minnesota Twins Depth Chart | RosterResource | FanGraphs Baseball
  8. Thielbar's best option might be to come back on a minor league contract with opt-outs and play for the Saints until something opens up on an MLB roster.
  9. Miranda basically repeated his debut 2022 season offensively and improved his defense at 1B. He's as close to a lock as any baseball player is to repeat again. Expect a 110-115 OPS+ and average defense at 1B for the league minimum salary.
  10. He's a much more legitimate option as a starter at 1B than Julien is at second base. They need an outfielder to move Castro to 2B more than they need to replace Miranda. I would ask Texas to swap Paddack for Leody Tavares. That saves $3M and boosts the outfield defense considerably. Tavares is just entering into what should be his prime as a hitter.
  11. I agree. The Twins are quite unlikely to find anyone better for the cost. It wasn't mentioned in the article, but Topa still has options which means he can shuttle back and forth to AAA if necessary. It's more likely than not that 2 out of 3 are competent relievers next season. That's a bargain for a total cost of $4M with a one-year commitment. That is less than the cost of one competent reliever in free agency (the Reds signed Emilio Pagan for 2 years $16M).
  12. I don't think anything exciting is going to happen until the team is sold.
  13. Mauer never popped the ball up. I wonder how much that matters.
  14. He's smart, good arm and a coach's son. Why isn't Brooks Lee a catcher?
  15. Looking over that list there are several players the Twins should pursue, even if they don't necessarily have the highest bid. 1) Garret Crochet - a cheap, top of the rotation pitcher for the next two seasons 6) Jesus Luzardo - same 13) Jorge Soler - would the Braves eat some cash? 20) Brendan Donovan - anyone want a 2nd Willi Castro for the roster? This one doesn't switch hit. 21) Nolan Gorman - straight up for Julien? 23) Leody Tavares - plays all 3 OF positions, switch hits, makes only $4.3M 25) Chas McCormick - buy low candidate 34) Luis Robert Jr - buy low with All-Star upside
  16. Aaron Judge has been playable in CF despite below average foot speed. I'm not going to compare his bat to Judge but his glove might be similar.
  17. Since your data has no labels it's impossible to determine what you think you're showing. You did answer the question of whether you have ever seen Rodriguez play defense with a definite NO.
  18. The Dodgers also didn't worry about set roles in the bullpen. Use the best pitcher for the game situation.
  19. I agree that improved up the middle defense will help with run prevention. 2B needs to improve and more Willi Castro might be part of the solution. CF should have Emmanuel Rodriguez and Keirsey backing up Buxton instead of Margot, Castro and Martin. A full, healthy season for Correa and Lewis would help.
  20. His performance in AAA and his age. He looks like a 700 OPS ceiling on offense.
  21. The Twins play in a bigger league against a bunch of other players. There are threads for hockey and football on this site so I don't think an article going over other things happening in major league baseball is a crazy idea. It's better than dissecting every piece of lint in the bellybutton that is the Twins offseason.
  22. I personally wouldn't mind a walk around the other teams in baseball instead of an article for every single player who might or might not get arbitration. I think the focus here sometimes gets too Twins centered. What players on other teams might get non-tendered (or otherwise squeezed off the roster)? Would the Twins be interested in any of them?
  23. If Falvey non-tenders Duran he should be fired on the spot.
