  1. I disagree with this entirely. 1) Jeffers - while not a great hitter, Sanchez hasn’t been since going into the lead role. Sanchez is fine as a platoon guy, but he’s not as good of a hitter to overcome his receiving skills. Outs are outs, and I’ll take put-outs… but value to the team, receiving is way more valuable than throwing as a catching skill. There is on average one successful stolen base per game, league wide, over the course of the season. There are 100 plus pitches thrown per game per team. Getting a higher number of strikes called, fewer passed balls, the frequency is 30:2. Yeah, ideally you’d have a catcher who can do both, but receiving is way more valuable. 2) Larnach rips the cover off the ball @wabene called it out. Additionally, Larnach may not have a ton of range, he makes the sound play. He catches what he gets to, without doing many the risky plays that let the roller bounce around in the corner. As to the OP, I would add a 4th, Jorge Alcala. The pen is MUCH improved, but another shut down reliever would go a long ways towards keeping close games close. The starters are not going to magically become 1990s era workhorses, the bullpen has to be a modern deep flame throwing shut down pen.
  2. Agreed, they should be looking to add. Im not quite as down on the rotation, likely average, middling, and Maeda coming back from injury has a huge array of possibilities, one of which was Cy Young award candidate in the shortened 20 season to what we saw last year shortened by injuries. Gray is a solid to 20 starting pitcher, Mahle is a solid top 30, and Ryan and Ober are above average 4th/5th starters. they likely lack a top end number 1 starter, have solid to good middle rotation and better than average back. It’s a rotation we’ve become accustomed to, designed to win in the regular season. Average… the wide range of possibilities and risk for injury with Maeda, Ober, Gray and the farm…. I’d love to see an additional front of the rotation starter, but I’ve said that for years….
  3. Stu, you turn your article in early this week. Absolutely hilarious!
  4. Agreed, though I found myself defending his numbers and reading more into them than there really was. I was conflicted about Sano as a Twin because he had shown the tantalizing promise and been accused of harassment that I can’t forgive him for. at least now I don’t have to feel conflicted anymore.
  5. I was encouraged by Duffey’s Late June to late July… then the wheels fell off again. good luck Tyler. I’m sure he’ll get picked up off waivers.
  6. Coming into the season the FO had not prioritized the bullpen even knowing the starting pitching staff was going to be closely managed innings, they still traded Rogers for Paddack (another closely managed short start pitcher). Making the bullpen thinner yet. yes the bullpen looks nice for a couple years, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need to improve further.
  7. AK isn’t a machine that can be taken down for PMs and just “fixed”. He’s a human being. Medical science has advanced in ways that I don’t understand, but humanity’s understanding of the human body isn’t exhaustive. 40% of doctors and surgeons get sued for medical malpractice at some point in their careers. when my team develops capital projects for New Product Introduction, the machines are typically not built “bullet proof” as much as we build them with redundancy. Fixing a machine when it goes down takes critical time, so asset functionality are qualified in duplicity. Even machines that can be “fixed” need to have a plan B.
  8. He’s only under contract through ‘23. that is a bold prediction!
  9. Cal Ripken is in the MLB hall of fame and holds the record for most consecutive games played. totally fair comp
  10. Keep up the great work TD on TD! Its been a joy watching Miranda blossom into a big leaguer right in front of our eyes. Love the visuals that prove the feel
  11. Great work TwinsData! graphical evidence Max Kepler is “Meh” and Miranda is a monster! Imagine if more of the hitters could coordinate the upswings… the runs to be scored….
  12. Part of the high price tag was pulling the trigger ahead of the deadline. That was clearly “there’s no possible way of getting more, so why hold out for more”.
  13. Twins didn’t have that much prospect capital to begin with
  14. It’s Richie the Rally Goat
  15. Adding to this, he’s got two years left at current rate. 22/23 offseason will see another huge crop of free agent SS. Does Correa think he can get more on a long term deal this off-season, or next off-season (23/24)? if it’s next, and he likes it in MN, there’s a chance he doesn’t opt out. With Royce going through surgery, what are the odds the Twins can pull off another Correa deal?
  16. Agreed, it depends on price. While I’d love to see Montas in a Twins uni, usually pitching prospects are the currency of trades like this. With the risk of injury, depleting depth becomes even riskier. Considering how much injury risk in the rotation, the Twins currently have, I would be very averse to including high minors starters like Winder/Ober that I’m sure Oakland would insist upon. if they could swing it with lower minors pitching, I’d be very interested.
  17. I agree with this to a large extent. The core is here, don’t trade major leaguers away… however, they have to do something to improve the bullpen. that can and should be accomplished by trading low level prospects
  18. Why would the Twins trade for Danny Duffy just to trade him to SD? Also, for all those clamoring to trade Tyler Duffey for Snell, Duffey hasn’t given up a run since June 12. I’m in less of a hurry to trade him away
  19. Have the Futures Game as a part of the All Star festivities?
  20. I laughed so hard! new vocabulary word too. It’s a good day when you learn what Minnesota sushi is!
  21. If he does, it will be the second most innings in a season of his career. I’ll gladly take that
