    A batted ball can be more productive than a K. It can also be the same as a K, and less productive. Double plays usually happen on batted balls.

    Along this line, baseball is a sport filled with individual contributions, but is a team game. Ultimately how one player does is important, but how the team does is more important. Is it more impactful to team wins and scoring runs to have a homogeneous lineup in terms of skill/ability, or heterogeneous skill/ability?

    For non-contenders agreed. For contenders, the 40 man slots are a big deterrent though too, if the claims are post 9/1, you lose two 40 man spots.

    Sure, they could, but the claimed player can’t be on the post season roster. So you’d lose 2 spots on 40 man depth for the post season. The guy you claimed, and the guy you released to make room.

    No one is going to claim them Sept 1. If you aren’t making the post season you aren’t adding the cost. If you are making the post season, you don’t want to dilute your roster with players that can’t be on the playoff roster. in other words, a catch and release will cost you the salaries

If more than one club makes a claim, the club with the lowest winning percentage (regardless of league) either from the previous season (beginning on the day after the conclusion of the MLB regular season through the 30th day of the MLB regular season) or on the day the player clears waivers (beginning on the 31st day of the MLB regular season through the last day of the MLB regular season) is awarded the claim. If two clubs with the same winning percentage make a claim, the club in the player's own league is awarded the claim. If two clubs from the same league make a claim and they are tied in the standings, the club with the lowest winning percentage from the previous season is awarded the claim. If the clubs are still tied, standings from two years back (or three years back, four years back, etc) are used to break the tie.“ the current waiver period ends Aug 31.

    If you absolutely have to catch that 10:45 train, I’d take the green line. Parking is hard to get out. I usually park in the ABC ramps. Very slow to exit. Typically on my way back to Wisconsin, it takes 45 minutes to an hour to drive to downtown St. Paul. The only reason I don’t park in St Paul and ride the green line in, is the extra park time and cost of parking/train fare, but that’s not an issue for you.

    With Royce active and productive, Jhoan Duran might be more important. If Correa goes on the IL, there’s options that can be very productive, including Royce & Farmer if Duran goes to the IL, I shudder to think who fills that gap…

    Lopez since joining the Marlins has an 8.39 ERA and a higher bb rate than k rate. Floro has a 7 ERA and a k rate twice his bb rate. the Twins have thus far won that trade, but it’s close

    Their contract with Bally was always scheduled to end after this season. Diamond Sports/Bally bankruptcy wasn’t public (at least for us) until a couple weeks after the Twins signed Correa on his vastly reduced contract. (Jan 11 Correa contract, Jan 25 Bally). there’s more at stake for the league and the market with the bankruptcy. It removes a lot of leverage from the new broadcast rights negotiation when the incumbent is bankrupt. it removed a lot of leverage when dozens of teams will begin the same negotiation within a year or so.

    Correct, but the Market price of Carlos Correa today, is much lower than it was a year ago. the risk with hedging is prices go down too
