  1. there is a difference between process and results.
  2. Yuck, no If they got the bang for the buck that Tampa gets but still spend league median, great, but they won’t. Penny pinching sucks, and all the teams emulating Tampa suck too.
  3. That was my assumption too. He’s worth more than league minimum, but less than the market rate contract he signed plus an a-ball flier?
  4. I go to a couple games per month, listen to the radio for at least part of 60-70% of the games, probably 40-50% of the innings. my interest has been deteriorating as June progressed
  5. What’s he worth in trade?
  6. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/player-scroll?player_id=641927#plinko jis average release point is 5.8 ft to 6ft! And letting it go at the front of the mound! Yowza!
  7. Agreed, one of the aspects that I hope for most is a comprehensive and flexible package (streaming or what have you) that I can pay for watching the game at home, like I can in-person. Buy a game, buy a package, buy a season. It shouldn’t be a patchwork quilt!
  8. Agreed, compared to the Twins being the second most pinched team in baseball and all the different lineups…. All the whining about Rocco seems to me, to be misplaced. He’s pulling every lever he can to squeeze a little bit more out of a terrible hitting team. unreal how good Atlanta is by comparison.
  9. Best of luck to Royce, hopefully he recovers in the minimum and Miranda makes the most out of his opportunity
  10. 100% accurate, you’ll never see the Pohlads go all-in like San Diego did. This team will always be cost conscious. however if you don’t grow the top line, it’s very hard to grow the bottom line. winning drives top line sales. half measures to win the division but not go all in to win a World Series is the most likely outcome (as we’ve seen)
  11. Yes, but hitting is a skill. This FO signed and traded for 3 replacement level or worse players in an offseason after they struggled to score runs, and traded away their best hitter (not the debate and I still would have done that trade). The FO acquires talent and sets the strategy. the talent on the hitting side is bad the strategy isn’t working Execution of the strategy by the coaches might not be working either, but it’s hard to tell because the talent is so bad and the strategy of dead pull hitters and replacement level utility infielders is so bad.
  12. When you watch the Twins, do you find yourself stomping on the imaginary drivers ed. brake? I think of traffic
  13. I think the Amsterdam episode was my favorite.
  14. Correa lauded Popkins last year on the diagnosis and data/info sharing. this year the report out of the Strib. was that the players are overwhelmed by data. I don’t think there’s a misunderstanding of what the issue is I think the issue is in synthesis (not diagnosis). “What should the players do about it” and effective communication of the PDCA. From the Rocco Rant the other day, I don’t think he knows either. I have been in the “why bother with coaching changes , they’re just going to be cloned” camp. I’m now in the “Popkins needs to go, probably Baldelli and the other hitting coaches too.”
  15. Finished Ted Lasso, thoroughly loved it. The last episode… I got all misty
  16. @Rod Carews Birthdaygreat post! Very thoughtful. The Buzzwords that get thrown around carry very different meaning for different fans. as a pro-data fan, I am an analyst by trade too. I wonder if some of the debate is based on comfort with statistical/quantitative process? im not a huge fan of Modern baseball theory. 3 true outcomes hitters are boring as heck to watch. It seems like Manfred has identified some of the flaws in the modern game and has instituted rules changes. I wonder if we’ll see more (like lowering of the mound) to drive more change?
  17. that doesn’t seem so fast ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  18. That is awesome! Sad that doing the right thing is a bit of a surprise, but the mental health stigma still exists. It’s great to see the Twins approaching this situation supportive just like physical health (as it should be).
  19. It’s been 50/50 since May 1, needs to be Jeffers 60/Vazquez 40
  20. His defense isn’t as advertised, it’s decent, but not good, let alone the gold glove caliber reputation being thrown around in the offseason. He had a couple 3 and 4 OAA seasons, but this year negative 2. the reclamation project wasn’t a failure. He’s hitting his career average after having a catastrophic season last year. He has been reclaimed. that doesn’t make Gallo a good player, or a good offseason signing. He’s an $11M replacement level player. Solano is $2M replacement level player, who is by the way, outhitting Gallo, and is not another left handed hitting outfielder.
