Agreed, Alcala should not be used in Leverage. He has no idea where his pitches are going. in 2024 only Jax made 70 appearances (72). Sands made 62, Duran 58. 70 isn’t some huge milestone, but the OP has a point that 70+ appearances should not be counted on.

We can quibble about 12th bring above average. I’d call it average. Still, your point remains accurate. 2023 the Twins ranked 4th in innings pitched by starting pitchers. Baldelli tries to avoid mid-inning calls to the bullpen because inherited runners score at a high rate, but he does give his starters leash. The quick-hook stereotype is not a Baldelli thing, it’s a league-wide thing.

Absolutely agreed, the hundreds of thousands of people who’s homes were destroyed and the shocking failure of the flood insurance laws/process is a horrible tragedy. watching the Rays and As in minor league parks is pretty lol-worthy though

There’s 8 relievers on the staff. The way this team hits, it’s better to have a fireman who can warm up quick and wriggle a starter out of a jam and avoid giving up runs, than to worry about running out of relievers in an 8 man bullpen

Pablo’s whole outing was just nerve wracking. Super fun to watch him get in and out of jams. It’s a heck of a pitcher who looked more than a little off (to me) for 5 and 2/3, and only give up one run. Also, Sands has been fantastic, and still holds primary leverage situations even though Jax has been great too. what a fun game to take my son to

Agreed, right now it’s not Clemens v McCusker, it’s more Bader/Kiersey/Whoevers DHing v McCusker. There’s plenty of room to get McCrusher at bats while Wallner is out, and probably even after he returns. This team isn’t exactly blowing the doors off in the batters box
