  1. QO should around 18 mil? On the free market you’d sign either for 10 to 12 mil per year? So you take a 12 or so mil beating.... they can find 12 mil in any particular season pretty quickly. Instead of signing a Pineda type for 5th starter, use an internal option, and non-tender Adrianza in favor of Arráez, Gordon, Astudillo, or just not resign Castro and go with Astudillo as the placeholder for Rortvedt. If I’m doing anything at the trade deadline, it’s trading prospects for a starter with team control, like Yankees did in the offseason Sheffield for Paxton. That makes this whole exercise null. One move at the deadline changes the narrative, and flips this discussion on its head. I’m keeping my eye on Griffin Canning of the Angels, as one name that popped out for me. I’m certainly open to others. Number 2 is trading for one or two high end reliever(s) on an expiring contract. Perez and his one very effective pitch plus two very good relievers makes for a decent to good bullpen. If a couple of question marks turn into periods or exclamation points (Littell, Duffey, Magill) it could be a dang good bullpen.

  3. kinda confused about how this fits with my statement, but here goes anyways: Jorge Polanco & Mitch Garver are notorious fielding butchers. Byron Buxton and Willians Astudillo began gaining traction as players when they rejected the prescribed slap hitting and started elevating.
  4. I was a bit confused by his disdain for MLB as a whole and being out of whack, the Ivy League nerds not playing, ruining the game... but then gushing a bit about the Twins putting together the best roster they’ve maybe ever had. The Twins have become the very “new age, Ivy League” and “soft” team he holds in contempt. I really wanted DB to ask him to rationalize that.
  5. Twins need to find 2 “trustworthy” late innings relievers to complement Rogers. 2 of Morin, Magill, Parker and Stewart need to be improved upon. Can’t have 4 guys you don’t trust for 7/8/9. Duffey and Littell are showing promise for late innings but aren’t there yet. You still gotta go get two high leverage relievers. Probably should find a starter and move Perez to the pen too. Parker and Morin are my first two candidates to be improved upon. Low WPA, especially crucial for Parker is getting those two axed. Third up is Magill, if you can get three moves done.
  6. It’s a simple question Norm! Don’t jerk me around!
  7. Stewart it ishttps://www.mlb.com/news/twins-promote-kohl-stewart-from-triple-a
  8. not just you. I think back to the hamate bone issue from 2 years ago (I think)
  9. flaccid whisper. Edit: removed question mark. Definitely a statement, not a question.
  10. congrats! You’ll have more time for Twins Daily! I’m so jealous
  11. that’s fine, they can keep him or trade him somewhere else
  12. Graterol is like our Justus Sheffield. You trade him to get a Paxton with several years of team control left, not a rental. I’d totally trade for MadBum, Cave plus a flier might do it.
  13. I still think Romero can be a decent bullpen option for the Twins in the future, but right now.... nope. I’m happy to see Littell get a shot, hopefully he succeeds, and a couple other guys get their shots until the trade market heats up
  14. is that chair supposed to be musical?
  15. I gotta be honest.... I got a little misty about this literary masterpiece. Great work
  16. that is the thing with polls... sample size matters.... good point on saves I think you can reconcile that with run differential. At plus 110 runs, they have more blow outs, fewer save opportunities.
  17. if the bullpen were striking batters out, instead of allowing balls in play, would the errors have happened? I can still find a way to blame the bullpen
  18. Qualifying a statement w/ "SSS but..." is like saying "no offense but...". Just because you said "no offense" doesn't mean you aren't offensive. Let's see if he can sustain that OPS while maintaining a 38% K rate. I'm with Brock - he doesn't have to improve much, but improvement in K-rate is a necessity or the other variables in baseball will take their toll on his peripheral stats.
