  1. I join the others who could care less about "he is hitting better than the results show". It is only results that win games. No one posts FIP or WOBA to determine who wins a game! Larnach is a nice player but in the bottom three in any batting order I would construct. I also like the idea of good players playing against all pitchers and not the quick PH move that Rocco likes.
  2. sometimes you let a SP figure things out. Look at the RP we got instead for that game. Yes it was a bad decision and I am okay with a thumbs down.
  3. I will try to curb my enthusiasm, but it is hard. I really want to see him succeed.
  4. I buy into Morris - still waiting on Soto. I feel like he has been over rated on our prospect lists so far. I hope he is as great as everyone thinks, but I need to see him in A and AA before getting on his bandwagon. Prielipp also needs to have some extended success before I accept the hype. Where do Ohl and Nowlin and Raya and Lewis fit in this conversation? Right now, Festa and Matthews are looking really good and Varland needs to be a RP.
  5. I am concerned that the BP is getting quite shallow. Who do we count on? Not Theilbar. We have a limited number of quality arms out their now and with rookies in the rotation we will be calling on them earlier meaning a lot of innings.
  6. I can't blame Thielbar. He does the best he can, but Rocco - have you looked at the stat sheet? You pull Festa when he was a victim of a bad call and then go to Thielbar as your second option. Come on - I have not made a bad Rocco post so far this year, but I cannot hold back today. That was stupid! This is not Thielbar of the past, it is the current RP and he is not the person we want when the game is so important. Nor is it right to pull a young pitcher who suffers from a bad call. Come on - you are no longer a rookie manager.
  7. Neither team won - trades can't be judged in a partial season unless one of the assets just goes off as a star. Right now we would be saying bench Polanco based on his 204 average and 0.0 WAR, but we also don't know if the trade set him back mentally. I just can't imagine what I would have done if I had been traded to another state during any of my career jobs. Baseball is a strange occupation as Curt Flood tried to point out. In any other profession we can choose to leave, choose to stay, or choose the other company we would work for.
  8. Maybe the easiest solution would be for the teams to expect at least a 30 minute delay and start their warmups accordingly. This happens once a year. It is no big deal.
  9. Wallner gets a double and is the lead in bottom three WPA - no wonder I pay no attention to this stat. Not sure why we see this every game. Richardson was great - innings pitched, runs allowed - all add up to a real quality start.
  10. Connor Prielipp starts and goes 2 2/3 while 19-year-old Adrian Bohorquez goes 5 - time to start pushing the all minor league pitchers to more innings, whether they give up runs or not. Stretch them out. Adrian Bohorquez looked good and it is nice to see at least 5 innings from a young pitcher.
  11. I wish, but do not expect him to give us what we really need. Hill is a silly idea. I think we keep trying with Zebby if Varland fails as a SP.
  12. I loved it. I especially enjoy seeing our hometown slugger lead the way. Not sure how to judge varland.
  13. They can DFA farmer, they can even DFA Martin and certainly Dobnak. They can DFA a lot of players when I look at the actual 40 man roster 40 man according to MLB.com add Okert, Richards, Paddock and Winder. Adjusting the 40 man is the least of our problems. And I expect a lot of reactions to my list.
  14. How great to see Hall, Lewis, and Matthews all pitch strong games. I feel like Winokur is going to climb the prospect list some more this year.
  15. Absolutely not - both Martin and Farmer have worse lines than the figures you have for Lee's downtime. He is our future. Let him figure things out at the plate. Farmer and Martin have much more experience but cannot do what Lee does and do not hit as well. Why would we want Farmer back? Why do we like Martin so much?
  16. I see this list as just the beginning. How about Varland stepping up now? Can Wallner keep destroying baseballs? Can Kepler have a second half like last year? Can Duran become the best closer again? Can we have a good Thielbar again? Is there another RP we can put in the BP (not the guy we traded for)? Can Lewis stay healthy, can Buxton stay healthy, can Correa get healthy? Can Lee take the next step and show why he is rated so high? Will Lopez be a number 1 or number 3 SP? Will Ober keep up his pitching and move to number one or fade as the season progresses? Can Varland, Zebby, Festa, Richardson give us the starts we need to finish the season? Will Rocco stop using Margot as a PH? Can Larnach continue his MLB rise in production? Can Miranda recover from the HBP recovery - the same thing that ruined Mauer and Morneau? Can Castro stay an all-star? Can Margot, Santana, Vasquez continue to produce or will they revert to what they were to start the season? Will the BP suffer from overuse?
  17. It isn't that we lost, it is the fact that our BP was exposed again and that we lost 2 of 3 to a bad cubs team. Busch looks like a MN that we should have. Richards looks like a RP we should not have. Did anyone look at his era when we traded for him?
  18. He has scored 34 runs - 150 ABs - how many PR appearances? _0.3 WAR, 233 average for a non powerhitter. Okay, it is fun to play with numbers but SSS really applies and this article has not made Martin a valuable piece. In fact, I hope he can be surpassed next year and that we start to see others move into his position. I don't dislike him, I just think we have projected him for more than his value and this article is an example.
  19. Wait and see - too many projections go wrong. I want him to succeed, but I also wanted Dobnak to succeed. And a few more that the Twins added and DFA'd
  20. So long Randy, been good to know you, but we've got to be moving along.
  21. So far he is better at staying healthy. I really want to see a full year of Lewis - he is really special, but so is Witt.
  22. Who cares about FIP - you win and lose depending on how many runs you score and how many the other team scores - real scores. The Royals went out and got two more RP. Good for them. I do not root for them or want them to beat out the Twins, but I do want to acknowledge what they are accomplishing.
