  1. The problem with moves like this is not the individual player or the individual move, it is the collective confusion that every move seems to reflect. 12 pitchers - yes we have a bad pitching staff - is 12 terrible pitchers better than 11 terrible pitchers? I am so disappointed in the development of players, the swing and miss on so much potential from so many players is beyond frustrating. What does a Twins fan look to for the rest of the season. It already seems so long and we have not even reached the all-star game. And please, change the rules. No Twin All stars this year.
  2. How do we as fans comprehend how the Twins have dealt with a group of very talented young players.? You can and Berrios and Chargois to this list as well. There is no plan, no safety net for them, and no sense that we are going to get past the growing pains. I would rather have them sent elsewhere, like Ortiz, so we can enjoy their talents.
  3. The issue that really needs to be raised is the fact that teams cannot void contracts when steriod use is caught. why not? This is where the real punishment will come. Smart business men sign foolish contracts for over the hill players and steriod users and have no recourse? Come on!
  4. I continue to be baffled by the Twins "philosophy" on young players. Let him go so he can have a career. I would rather he be another Ortiz for someone else than be ruined by the clueless Twins.
  5. Lets just package our current bullpen and send it to DC - a care package and all they have to do is pay the salaries. (Of course we can throw in a few starters and hope they do not notice).
  6. This does not say anything that many of your readers have been expressing, but at least it is a confirmation. What else is left this year?
  7. I think that they are right on with the assessment - our Minnesota patience might allow us to keep waiting, but other teams do not. Sano has not hit like last year - whether being in the wrong place - RF - or just struggling, his immense talent continues to give us some good days when healthy, but batters, fielders, pitchers do not reflect the quality that should come from being rated one of the top two farm systems for so many years.
  8. The issue is the Twins player development. Do we have the right coaches to lift the players to the MLB level? Buxton and Kepler are close, but should be better. Other teams bring up 21 - 22 year olds (even a few teens) and they transition. Why do our players from the top MiLB system fail to make the jump with style? Rosario and Santana do great and then fall flat their second year (is this just sophmore slump or coaching?) Kepler and Buxton continue to struggle showing a flash at bat, but no consistency. I hope Duffey does well today, but his last six games are not promising, Berrios and Chaguois have been handled poorly and had their confidence shaken, we keep picking up dregs instead of moving minor league relievers up. Why does it take players to reach near their peak ages in the Twins system before they shine?
  9. Well our FA are not taking us very far in those playoffs and Pujols is not taking the Angels and the list can get quite long. Yes there are FA that make a difference, but then there are James Shields and I believe there are more losses than wins in this monopoly game.
  10. He is right on - especially his comments about bringing in the new young players. Can we have a latino coach of maybe 2 -3? Allen as pitching coach - wow there is something to be pleased with. No accountability. Sorry, but this column only reminds me of the real frustration of fans for this team and the lack of hope we have as we look to see things turn around.
  11. I would have Kepler at #1. Berrios took a step backwards and I wonder what has been the reasons for this mixed season. I really expected him to be there now - we have nothing in our rotation that should block him. I would have Polanco #2 and Berrios #3. I just cannot figure out how the twins have handled Polanco, but then their handling of young players, overall, confuses me.
  12. It might not be new, but it does not make it a wise investment strategy.
  13. If only the Twins knew how to transition players from the minors to the majors.
  14. Baseball has reached a point of re-evaluation. It is time to step back and see what the value of contracts really are worth for players in their 30s. Career year need to be ignored -think Suzuki, Hughes and now Nunez. Past performance for another team is not worth breaking the vault open for a new team - see the Angels and Pujols. Value is in the front end of a career not the back end and these team owners are supposed to be successful business men who should recognize that. And if their key employee (TR) does not see this its time to say you are fired and move on.
  15. Molitor is showing some stress fractures in his stoic demeanor and the young players are feeling the impact of this I want base stealing and a little risk taking. Molitor, as a player, would have done that. There were reasons to send Rosario down, but the manager chose the wrong one.
  16. Can we trade our FO? Can we bring in some young executive and see what they can do? Can we move on from the Vets who clog the braintrust? Everything you wrote made sense to TD readers, but we can do nothing but express our angst on these threads. It is now June and all we have done is pick up a minor league outfielder that could not make it with the Brewers. There is no rotation any more. There is no reliable bullpen - just guys hoping to have as many good outings as bad. How do you sweep out all of the players and managers who are clogging these arteries?
  17. We stink and the head stinker is Terry Ryan. Don't give me any more crap about patience. Whoever is failing beneath the big GM guru is stinking because of the system this man has put in place. Pull the plug, flush the commode, move on, Jim Pohlad total system failure starts at the head of the system.
  18. I just read the above posting and realized that I am getting more and more angry and frustrated with each week and each Twins move. Oh, wait, we just signed an outfielder that could not make the Brewer's roster. Wow, I am just not feeling the excitement.
  19. Yes. There is a need for a change, but my fear is that we will promote from within, that we will reach down to the TR clones and go on as before and each time we do, we have to be fair and give them a few years. But baseball is never just about fair. It is about winning.
  20. How is Byung Ho Park feeling? Personally, I look at his spot in the lineup now and do not feel very positive.
  21. I believe we have a new - absence without leave graduate - Byung Ho Park. It's time to talk about our international signing and what has happened for the last few weeks. I believe an incomplete impacts graduation.
  22. This discussion focuses me on something else as a problem, one I have been denying up until now. Dozier needs a manager to step up and Dozier to sit down. Molitor is mishandling the young players and I do not know why. Polanco, Kepler, Meyer, Berrios, Buxton...why? If you decide to bring them up - stick with them, do not shatter fragile psyches. On the other hand, when your vets - Plouffe, Dozier, Escobar are not meeting expectations sit them down. If Molitor has not figured out that this is a lost season he too is in dangerous denial. Why not the young relievers? Why the inconsistency? I expected Molitor to be more progressive. Did I misjudge him or am I missing something?
  23. I remember that he did not play the "Twins" way and those who did not do what they were told were told to leave. Aww how I have enjoyed the TWINS WAY!
  24. Dean is just a young version of Milone and Milone was worth some wins. Let him run out his string and hope it lasts a long time.
