  1. Excellent choice - but he really did not have a lot of competition for the prize. If we pull things out this season, the series he has had will be a big reason.
  2. That is quite a list - Duffey, gone, Pagan missing in action, and now Lopez who has not impressed me as our designated closer. He has now blown 3 saves. He has a 3.09 ERA for us and a 1.371 whip as a Twin.
  3. Contreras continues to hit well and seemed like he was getting adjusted to the majors his last call up. I know they love Cave, ,but I would like him to get more opportunities.
  4. Extra inning games can get a lot more exciting if he is on second and steals third.
  5. Good night for the hitting prospects - not so great for the pitchers. And Ober and Dobnak are not blowing away the competition in their rehab.
  6. Good essay, but hard to add anything. I have wondered if the increased power might be part of a change in approach and if so I want the 338 hitter back.
  7. No - they did not manufacture a pitching prospect. I give all the credit to Varland and his tenacity. I do want to see him in the majors and like others in this post I look at his age and say if he is going to be a success it has to start now.
  8. He was a disappointment a long time ago. So I don't count him this year since I think I've given up on him
  9. They fought even though they were behind and thus it was a good game. No one goes undefeated. The pitching was okay, the hitting was okay, the fielding was okay. This one does not upset me. Now we carry this over to a Sox team that has not been playing that well and start moving to the top of the division. We will face another who is he pitcher in the next game and I am fine with that.
  10. This is a nothing move - the last few nights have shown what the Red Sox BP is like. It is not what we need.
  11. I have been high on Miranda since the beginning but have to admit that I wavered when he started so bad. Right now there is no one else I would prefer when someone is on base. I understand that the nation does not see him like we do. It the Twins were better he would get more spotlights. Which is better Duran or Miranda???? I cannot choose. Lacking one position is always going to hurt, but in the long run the only thing that matters is that he keeps hitting and holds up the middle of the order.
  12. That goes without saying - they prove that defense is still important. But I am afraid I think Archer needs to be called out. He cannot slide. If you listened to the post game last night Dan Gladden made it sound like Archer set us up to win - he was called out in a hurry. I enjoyed that - and it is worth listening to if you can. Even in a praise worthy game you have to evaluate all aspects.
  13. In a game this good it is hard to find a negative, but Archer does not deserve more starts. If Winder is ready I want to see him in that role. It was a nice opportunity and everyone hoped to see the old Archer, but we have a four inning starter and its getting old. Put him in the pen or DFA, he is not part of next year.
  14. I forgot to add Aaron Sabato - lots of HRs but 215/337 in AA - our former first rounder continues to fall behind Wallner who had the same profile, but has advanced with potential to get to MN>
  15. I think you hit the lowlights of expectations. In a different way I would add Winder because he made the show, he looked good and I expected so much more when he went down.
  16. I am not for Sanchez. I want something from Winder/Ober/Varland. We trusted a young Ryan, let's trust another young arm. Sanchez has a -0.8 WAR. That tells me how good he has been. I went to BR and his statistics do nothing for me. Yes we can trade him for Archer if we want the same results.
  17. I love the streak, but who are these pitchers we are facing? I am amazed. I love the win, but I am confused by the Red Sox staff, but then they are last in their division. We faced rookie Bello, someone named Junis (SF), Tonight we get another, who's he, in Kutter Crawford, time to keep winning. Next we kick the White Sox while they are down and then we get to watch Aaron Judge.
  18. I will not judge this until the end of the season. What you have written at the end of the six game losing streak instead of the four game winning streak? Boston and SF both have worse records than we do. So for me I am celebrating the streak, but trying of perspective and it is hard to keep day to day. I do like your enthusiasm and positivity.
  19. We do not need another weak bat at the end of the lineup! I like speed, but so far Hamilton has not harnessed that or anything else. His line is too weak - 293 OBP for a non-power guy is not acceptable. 239 .293 .326 .619 His SB 371 (nice) CS 72 (not Nice). Still it is 84% which makes it valuable.
  20. If we are going to progress, we're going to say goodbye to both.
  21. Fascinating. This division is amazing, where else could we play so bad and gain ground? Sanchez has not done well by any measurement that I know of. He just fills a spot for 2 - 3 innings. I would rather see Smeltzer start with a chance that he might actually give us some positive innings. Pagan continues to underwhelm. Cabeb Hamilton is at least gaining some time for his retirement package. Arraez and Miranda need to come back, Kepler needs to be replaced - but who will do it? Here are your summaries since the All Star week and still we are fighting for first place.
