  1. I apologize for my poor wording. I have read Thrylos long enough to know he is a true fan... When we use poor wording meanings can be missed. My point was that all of us can see a quantifiable difference between this years August/September team and last years roster. Last years starters included "Ace" Correia and questionable rookie Gibson and a bunch of AAAA starters This year we have Hughes, More solid Gibson, questionable rookie May, and two MLB pitchers performing worse for the Twins than previously (Milone and Nolasco) thats better than last year.
  2. My predictions Adam, Gilmartin, Meyer, Rosario, Sano, will be added t the 40 man and protected. Goodrum, Michael, Salcedo, Shibuya, Tomshaw, T Jones, Mejia Will not need protection as they are not MLB ready enough to be drafted and stashed for a season Guerra, C Johnson, Lee The Twins will be willing to risk To make room, Burton and Swarzak are gone from the bullpen but Duensing remains a Twin in 2015. Pino is off the 40 man which makes him a FA. He's resigned on minor league contract and back to Rochester next spring. Pelfrey is on DL until after rule V. Colabello and Bernier will also be off the 40 man leaving room for a FA signing and our own rule V draftee.
  3. Fact- Bill Smith was held accountable for his 99 loss season and Terry Ryan was brought back to right the sinking ship Fact- Andy Macphail has won 2 World Series and the same number as Ryan since 91 Fact- Our offense has scored more runs and our run differential is better than past four years Fact- Our minors are stacked with prospects and many young players have already arrived. Many of those new arrivals and the vast majority in the minors were not in the system before Ryan's return
  4. Adamantly and 100% Disagree. The fact is that this is not the same team introduced this past spring. We have led the majors in Runs since August 1st? That is not "suckiness" and it is not something we dreamed of last August/September. People like to pile on about how this is the same team with the same results and the 90+ loss number is thrown out there repeatedly but true followers of the game of baseball can see the difference from last years team with little hope to this August/September team that holds a bright hope of a different future.I would take this Septembers Starting 5 over last years starting 5 anytime. I'm frankly tired of the sound bite complaints that are not based on what is actually on the field in front of us.
  5. Sean finished the year in Rochester after beginning the season in New Britain. He was 9-7 on the year with a 3.71 combined ERA. He started all 26 games he pitched in going 145.2 innings. He did not complete a game. He gave up 145 hits or a hit per inning and walked 44 for a 1.30 WHiP. 69 runners scored on his watch, 60 were earned. Sean stuck out 133 batters. 74 of those were in his 72 AA innings so the strike out rate dropped at AAA. On the other hand batters hit .250 against him in Rochester but .275 in New Britain for a combined .263. All signs point towards a return to Rochester with a possible 2015 debut at some point. He is not a top line pitching prospect but he may have enough to be a decent back of the rotation pitcher who can miss some bats. He's not an ace but he's got more upside than many pitchers we have seen lately on the MLB roster.
  6. Lol, I always try my hardest to get on no matter how I can. That's my competitive side and I'd hope any major leaguer would do the same.
  7. I also like the paper printed out version...
  8. I agree and I think the front office has been "doing things" with poor on field results which is why I also think it is time for Gardy and Anderson to ride off into the sunset. You can be a good coach and not get results with certain groups. They are not getting results with this young group and their should hVe been more. No hate, it's just time!
  9. Brandon Poulson- how's the adjustment to professional baseball coming and what is he primarily working on in the instructional leagues? Theofanopolous- how we'll does his name fit on the back of a Jersey? ( name Reminds me of Mientkiewicz)
  10. Simple answer? Yes! Trade for best offer on Pinto, move on from Gardy.
  11. I would take his leadership with no concerns about his health. We are working on teaching young players how to deal with the MLB game. Injuries will happen and how Cuddy handles next years injury would also be teachable moment. If we're prepping for a big 2016 run, this would be a good veteran addition even if it cost us a wildcard playoff spot next year. Too much youth on the field W/out veterans is not as conducive to growth.
  12. I went to Saturdays game. With Pinto on the bench, We had Nunez, Schafer, and Arcia in the OF, Santana at SS and Vargas as DH. I observed the "Seasoned veterans" (Plouffe and Dozier) giving on the field direction to all that youth while Suzuki managed the rookie pitcher (May) While this topic has swayed me closer to wanting to see Pinto more behind the dish, I don't want him catching young pitchers and I do like seeing veterans out there helping the young guys come along. I REALLY enjoyed seeing Plouffe have a LONG conversation with Schafer when Schafer got thrown out at second base. It looked like Schafer needed a vet to prospect talk ATM and he got it from a source I did not expect it from. There just were not many older guys on the field to give it and this too is an argument for NOT starting Pinto as much as we would like. PS the relievers were Oliveros, Darnell, Achter, and Thielbar...
  13. I think Kelly missed that defensive part. I like Tori as a club house leader and returning hero but defensively he had those bad defensive stats as a corner OF too...I still like the concept but he does not help our already poor defensive outfield.
  14. Ft Meyers to Chatanooga to Cedar Rapids...Can I come?
  15. I think many here are misquoting Gardy and only holding on to one sound bite of what he said. The part that stuck out to me was the players holding eachother accountable. They are a team invested in each other and that IS important. All that youth means they are only gonna grow and hopefully that is reinvigorating for old man Mauer as well.
  16. There are leagues associated with the majors and the teams in those leagues are the only ones the MLB team can choose from. The Saints are not an option. If we leave New Britain, we have to swap AA affiliations with another MLB team.
  17. I said Santana at short and hicks/Schafer platoon but this is not really my vote... I want a free agent LF, Buxton CF, Santana SS and if Buxton is not ready (which is likely) out of spring training, Either Schafer or Hicks (depending on Hicks rest of Sept. And ST) or platoon of those two until Buxton is ready... That is my real vote...it wasn't a choice. Maybe I should have said "other" but what I did vote is what I would probably vote for at the end of Spring Training 2015 so there you go!
  18. I was born in 1969 so do not remember the 69 or 70 season....First playoff season after that? 1987.
  19. Im sorry, I agree with much of what you said, but Worley had/has an attitude problem IMHO and is not known for being the best guy to listen to coaches but is known to shift blame instead of take responsibility
  20. Let's follow a logical process of who to blame. If you blame the talent, you must improve the talent, blame the players and upgrade. If, as many fans believe, the roster has more talent and the results are the same, where does the blame lie then? If I believe (Which I do) that our current pitchers are better than last year (Correia, Deduno, DeVries, Diamond, Walters, Pelfrey VS Hughes, Gibson, May, Nolasco, Milone) And If I believe we have added more talented fielders (Vargas, Santana) in place of lesser talent (Florimon, Colabello) then I must consider coaching changes. If coaching changes don't change the outcome, then the FO is on the hook. To me that is the natural progression of the blame thought process. I say hire a new manager (from within or without I care not) and if things are not better next year, Ryan is on the hook. Until then, I believe I have seen Ryan improve the whole organization and specifically the roster without any on field progress which. I think we should have been seeing this August/September.
  21. Kenys Vargas and Danny Santana up as quickly and successfully as they have been Burdi was expected to be good when drafted but seriously? Not THAT good! JO Berrios surprised many but to be honest not me... Thorpe, He did surprise me, I really had little confidence Finally, Polanco getting a cup of coffee, who saw that coming?
  22. 1 hundred percent agree. RF-Arcia (If doesn't improve and Hicks emerges possibly moved to bench or platoon) CF-Aaron Hicks (til Buxton) LF- Free Agent (possibly Traded at deadline or moved if Hicks finally emerges) C- Kurt Suzuki 1B- Joe Mauer 2B- Brian Dozier SS- Danny Santana 3B- Trevor Plouffe (Until Sano moves him to bench or trade at deadline) DH- Kenys Vargas Bench OF- Jordan Schafer (Until regression or pushed aside by emerging prospects) C- Pinto (Until he shows he can handle major league pitchers or is pushed aside by prospects) IF- Eduardo Escobar IF- Nunez (Until Plouffe is moved to bench by Sano)
  23. Posts like this are driving me nuts!! Get started rebuilding? Rebuilding takes a while and it is obvious looking at the whole system that the rebuild started 2-3 years ago. Vargas, Arcia, Santana, Sano, May, Meyer, Buxton, Burdi, Stewart, Berrios, hughes, and Gibson are all major pieces of the rebuild. Saying let's start a rebuild is suggesting you scrap what's been done by Ryan and none of these guys are scrap heap fodder!
  24. Or anyone that just happened to talk to him in the stands actually... He does just go in the stands like that and talk to whoever approaches
