  1. Colabello was optioned to Rochester to make room for May (and Joe Mauer?)
  2. Sano and Buxton bode well for drastically improving the overall look especially when combined with a full season of Santana and Vargas. I also believe that this year is the valuable learning year Arcia needed to become the power pull hitting RBI man in RF that we want long term. I believe he will look MUCH better on this list when the reinforcements arrive
  3. I think Rochester in AAA playoff baseball will adversely affect our hopes for September baseball viewing at Target Field.
  4. I believe the likelihood of Actually ever appearing in a Twins Uniform should influence the ranking more than potential. That might lead to adjusting Burdi, Gilmartin, and Vargas upward and with all that has happened to Eddie Rosario, maybe lowering his rank...
  5. Is that distribution center in Rochster New York or Rochester Minnesota? I literally laughed out loud reading this sitting alone at home today.
  6. Geez people, you have all watched the minors and MLB team this year. I have read 20 complaints about "shouldn't we try something better" without an in house suggestion of what is better. Rosario, in house suspension; Hicks, not ready (we tried that). Parmalee was in center, Parma freaking lee!! Quantify the harm or lay off please.
  7. This fits exactly what I talked about in a different thread...Bench guys are not supposed to have all the numbers to be starters; They are supposed to complement the starters. A defensive 4th outfielder with pinch running/ base stealing ability seems to fit well with our current outfield. If his offense eventually comes around that would be a bonus but we don't need a bunch of bench guys that look exactly like the starters. There's too much of that on this team already.
  8. Got the bats going...
  9. Strategically with bench guys you want flexibility to pinch hit, pinch run, or play better defense than the starter. For instance, Bottom of the 8th Sano gives you a one run lead on a HR. Do you bring in Nunez as a defensive substitute in the top of the 9th... What I am really saying is, how do these utility men complement the starters? There is your starting point for the discussion. If we see Parmalee, Plouffe, Escobar, Nunez, and Colabello as bench players, they should only stick around in how they complement the rest of the team.
  10. Sean has pitched twice since my last update. The first was a 7 1/3 inning shutout Gem allowing only two walks and scattering 5 hits on July 26th. Last night he did not fair as well. In 6 innings he allowed 5 hits but also 5 runs and 3 walks. He gave up his 5th AAA HR of the year (he allowed only 2 at NB) for his 3rd AAA loss of the year. His Rochester line is now 1-3 with a 3.98 ERA. He has pitched 52 innings allowing 23 earned runs with 16 walks and 38K's (half the rate he had at AA) Sean is still learning at this new level and Hoopefully more days in the future will look like July 26th and fewer the 31st.
  11. Vargas, Millone, Fuld moves hint to me there is another trade or two in the offing...
  12. Any value is good (even if it is low value) for players soon to leave as free agents that are blocking other players and don't fit our long term plans. PS I'd trade Correia for cash considerations to be named later at this point. I want to see those rooks!!
  13. There is a difference in bringing back a Span type player as a stop gap 1-2 year player who is still performing and bringing back a Kubel who was cut from his last team. (Cuddyer fits this profile as well)
  14. Dang it, I was gonna do that Willi!! Here's a great article... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-100-mph-throwing-art-school-kid--an-incredible-story-of-a-twins--scouting-find-052923193.html
  15. Crap, Fryer wasn't on my list... I guess he's that forgettable to me. Prediction: next year 98% of Minnnesotans won't even know he was ever a Twin
  16. I hope Ryan spends big on an OF. Bringing in two OF with one being a place holding CF would be great. How about Span in Center and Hunter in Left? ( are they both free agents or am I remembering that incorrectly?) I don't think there will be free agent signings for DH or RHRP. There is a possibility of a starter signing as TR said several times "you can never have too much starting pitching" but I hope we run with what we have and prospects. I want to see a lot of Meyers and Mays starting next year with Gibson, Hughes and a resurgent Nolasco... Ok maybe we need one more. The area you missed is Catcher... I think we will need a veteran catcher. I say we sign Baltimore free agent catcher Kurt Suzuki to a two year contract
  17. That was not positivity.... Just saying!
  18. This is all I'm hoping for. One thing TR has a history of is finding those types of diamonds in the rough.
  19. I would trade any of the lefty relievers and keep what the other teams don't want whether its Duensing, Thompson, Ibarra, Johnson, Darnell, or even Thielbar. We cannot keep half of them so trade what you can and bring up prospects. That said, I'd rather keep Duensing and Thielbar and convince the other teams to take the others in trades. We can afford their low cost and they are already doing the job. (And Thielbar is a local)
  20. Talking Parmalee is fair game but he has been up longer than the rest of the list... I saved my opinions but I have some I will share now... Pino- DFA to open 40 man spot after season Johnson- #5 or Long relief/spot starter not necessarily on the Twins though Darnell- #5 Starter or long relief/spot starter Fuld- 4th OF for a year or two w/Twins Hicks- LF on a different team Arcia- RF for Twins for next 7 years as a 260 BA/20+ HR guy Nunez- Bench bat for me more yr with Twins then journeyman for a few years Escobar- Punto 2.0 for next few years Colabello- Bench bat/Pinch hitter for a few years but not necessarily with the Twins much longer Florimon- A few years from now, the name no one remembers when asked to name 2014 Twins players Herrmann- Butera 2.0 (Nooooooo!!!) Pinto- Place holder for our future catcher next couple years Santana- Shortstop until unseated by Polanco then super Utility until Gordan arrives Polanco- up permanently sooner than anyone currently thinks Tonkin- reliever for Twins next 3-4 years before becoming a journeyman Pressly- reliever for Twins next 4-5 years before becoming a journeyman
  21. Exactly the positivity I was looking for... There is some hope in these guys (not all of them but some)
  22. Let's discuss the "prospects" that have been up this year and their future with our club. From the beginning of the year we knew that this year was about building for the future while trying to be better than last year. So many have complained about who we have not brought up (Meyer and May ) while complaining about who did get a taste of the bigs (Darnell, Johnson and Pino) Well, we are also finding out what we have in lesser prospects while we try out the bigger names. Yes May and Meyer are our future front line starting prospects and they need to be up this year, but what are Johnson, Pino, Darnell long term? What are they to us in 2015-16? While so vehemently criticizing the front office and owner for not trying out those we want up (now) we tend to overlook the other numerous promotions. I see it as an optimistic look at the future to have seen Polanco up twice (very briefly) from low A. Hicks WAS brought up too early and he turned into a hot mess that still hasn't been fixed (I am still hoping). I want this thread to be focused on the positive side of the front office and owner and how they have given us numerous faces to evaluate (and judge) this year So what do we think of these new(er) names as we look to 2015-16. Will they be here, what role should they have in our future, and if not here where will they be (cut, traded, still in the minors)? So, here are the names: Pino Johnson Darnell Fuld Nunez Arcia Hicks Santana Escobar Hermann Tonkin Pinto Florimon Colabello Polanco Pressly
  23. Thrylos, I normally see you as well thought out in your comments but this one was easy to fact check and is incorrect. This four year stretch does not come close to 1903-1911 9 year stretch of 85 to 113 loss seasons with only 152 games per year. It is still better than 1954-59 (6 years). Also, 1939-1942 (4years) would be comparable as would 1946-1951 (5years) Sometimes we forget how bad the senators were! Even so, I am firmly in the camp that thinks the Twins should cut Gardenhire and Anderson loose these next five days and see what Molitor can do for the remainder of the year with this staff. His trial run determines the fate of everyone at the end of the year. I also predict (the previous was not a prediction) that at least two trades will happen this coming week one of which will include either Willingham or Suzuki.
  24. Unfortunately, I agree. It has been a goood run but I think the time has come for a fresh voice.
