  1. On June 27th Ryan earned his first save pitching a 1,2,3 ninth with a strike out. On July 1st he was called upon with the bases loaded in the 6th. He promptly gave up a 3 run double and a run scoring single before finishing the inning off. He gave up two more hits in the 7th followed by 2 sacrifice flies and another run. He got the 3rd out and was replaced in the 8th. Not a great night but Rochesters starter Kris Johnson still got the win 15-11 He was thrown right back out there July 3rd. He replaced Alex Meyers in the 7th inning pitching 1,2,3 7th and 8th innings. He allowed a meaningless 2 out single in the 9th before a fielders choice completed a solid 3 inning save. In 29.1 innings this year with bases empty, opponents are batting .182 against him vs .284 in 21.1 innings with runners on. I think this means something about how he should NOT be used in the future...
  2. I was tech free for the last ten days and Sean pitched twice while I was gone. On Jun 27 he pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 runs in a no decision. He walked two and struck out only one. At AA he struck out 74 in 72 innings but to that point at AAA, he had only 7 Ks in 15 innings. On Jul 02 he made his 4th Rochester start of the year getting his first AAA win. He went 5 innings and gave up 5 hits and 3 runs. He walked 3 but also for the first time at AAA, He struck out more than 1 per inning with 6 Ks. In his two partial AAA years with the braves he struck out 2 batters every 3 innings approximately. (Similar numbers at lower levels) With the 6 most recent Ks he is back at that AAA ratio. The aberration here appears to be this years AA strikeout ratio but this is a small sample size and we can still hope that his increased K rate will transfer yet... Fingers crossed
  3. Sean's second Rochester start was mediocre at best which with what he had been doing was disappointing to me. I mean, 5 innings, 3 runs isn't horrible but 5 hits including a homer with 2 walks is a whip over 1.0 and is not what we are used to this year. He did strike out 4 and it was only his second AAA start of the year. Hopefully he starts doing to AAA what he had been doing to AA batters.
  4. It says right on his right up that the Twins are the favorite to get Ynoa... Do you have an alternate source?
  5. Nice write up. As a Utility guy, Punto has always been my favorite for the leadership he brought. Escobars personality rivals Punto and I think he has that same potential. His stats this year are starter worthy though so we will see what he is Long term
  6. PS, trade Pino now! Sell high before he becomes last years Diamond or this years Deduno
  7. Gilmartin is already at AAA. Promoted and started his first AAA game of the year This week
  8. First AAA, 3.1 innings. Over the first two innings Sean scattered 3 singles. No blood no foul... Third inning started with a Bernier error followed by a strike out, wild pitch, and a sac fly advancing the runner to third. Not a problem until the home run. Yes, both unearned (Sac fly should have been third out) but just not looking good. He gave up another single before ending the inning. Fourth inning he got another out but another single showed he did not have it this day and Scott Diamond came in to pick him up. Not a great Rochester debut
  9. Two appearances this week, on the 18th he gave up a hit and a walk while striking out 2 over three scoreless innings. On the 20th, not as good...he stranded an inherited runner with a strike out in the 7 th inning but after getting two outs in the 8th, the wheels came off. A walk and a single were followed by a wild pitch putting runners on 2nd and third. No big deal until two more walks led to a run. AJ Achter did not pick him up either as he walked the first batter he faced adding an earned run to Ryan's night. 1 inning, 1 hit, 3 walks, a wild pitch, and two earned runs with only one strike out.
  10. Hughes is someone we could have WITH Meyer, May, and Gibson on the next World Series team...with them you could be throwing Nolasco out there as the fifth man with his eternal contract
  11. New Britain stat line: 2014 Season W-L 7-3 ERA 3.13 G 12 GS 12 CG 0 ShO 0 SV 0 IP 72.0 H 76 R 30 ER 25 HR 2 BB 16 SO 74 GO/AO 0.73 Opp. BA .275 on to Rochester...
  12. Then he takes the loss...Yesterday, Ryan came on in the top of the sixth for Kris Johnson after Kris gave up a walk and a double putting Rochester down 2-3. Ryan struck out the batter to get out of the inning and set them down 1,2,3 in the 7th now with Rochester up 4-3. Then the eighth. A Wilkins Ramirez error turns an out into a man on second. A double, single and two strikeouts later and Ryan is pinned with two unearned runs and Rochester does not get out of the 4-5 deficit. Tough Loss: Pressly 2.1 innings, two hits, no earned runs or walks with 4 strikeouts. Last 10 appearances, he has struck out 22 in 18 innings with only 3 walks.
  13. On the 10th, Pressly relieved May with one out in the 6th inning and runners on 2nd and 3rd. He struck out the first batter but allowed one inherited runner to score on a wild pitch before stranding the other player at third. In the 7th he struck out the first batter but an out and two singles later he was relieved by Thompson who induced a groundout. No earned runs, 2 strike outs in 1.1 innings but a blown hold. On Thursday, Ryan closed out a win for Pino pitching the 8th and 9th innings giving up one single and no walks while striking out 3.
  14. I started watching baseball the second half of 86 because of one Kirby Puckett. He was infectious from the beginning and I was very saddened to see him leave the game so early. He is still my all time favorite and probably always will be. When Brad Radke began pitching on the team, I made sure I saw every 5th game and if at the dome, I tried to plan around the five man rotation to see him put up a W. During some really bad seasons, I enjoyed seeing him stop the bleeding every fifth day. Johan Santana replaced Radke as #1 in my heart with all those K's. In his prime, he was the best Twins pitcher I ever remember (no offense to Viola, Blyleven, Morris, etc...) Then he broke my heart (actually management did) and he became a Met. I love Joe Mauer but he has not created excitement in me. Currently, Oswaldo Arcia is stealing my heart with his passion and fun loving enjoyment of this wonderful game. I was on tv clapping in the stands behind him while team mates gave him high fives after his first major league home run last year (my wife took a picture and sent it to me) and I hope to watch many more over the next 15 years. (If he can hold off Sano and Buxton as my favorite)
  15. 9 hits and a walk... Not extremely encouraging at all...especially looking at only two strike outs
  16. In his latest outing, Sean gave up a lot of hits (11) in 5 innings of work. He limited the damage with only 4 runs by avoiding the homer, striking out 6 and not walking anyone. He got the win and in the end, wins and losses are all that matter right?
  17. Oops, sorry Seth (and Shane) for attributing the list to the wrong author... Need to pay better attention. Edited and corrected now...
  18. Looking at the Top 70 list by Shane, I added who was adopted. Notice who is Unadopted and consider picking someone up! Pink names are new draftees (I think I got all these right...) And red are those we missed when drafting our adoptions. 1. Byron Buxton - cmathewson 2. Miguel Sano (out for season TJ Surgery) 3. Alex Meyer - markos 4. Jose Berrios - SouthDakotaTwinsFan 5. 19. Ryan pitched twice more this week: On Tuesday June 3rd Pressly came in for a 1,2,3 ninth inning to close out a win for AJ Achter earning his third save of the year. 1 inning, no hits or walks, one strikeout. Yesterday started well. After 6 shutout innings by Alex Meyers, Pressly came on in the 7th for a one, two three inning with the second two both striking out. The eighth inning started with a pop up but a single, passed ball, and two walks later Pressly left with the bases loaded for Aaron Thompson. Two of the inherited runners scored and were placed on Pressly's tab. 1.1 innings, 1 hit, two walks, two earned runs, two strikeouts.
  20. This was in the TD June 5 minor league report: "Gilmartin Shines, Again In a good old-fashioned pitchers duel, Sean Gilmartin led the Rock Cats with seven and a third innings of scoreless ball, with eight strikeouts and zero walks. (Are we fully on the Gilmartin bandwagon yet? He now has a 2.82 ERA, 68 strike outs and just 16 walks in 67 innings)." Yes, Im on the bandwagon! We need a AAA promotion of Mays and or Meyers to make room for Sean in Rochester...Someone get it done! (Trade Correia and or Nolasco, Cut Pelf)
  21. Ryan is 0-1 with a 2.90 ERA. He's pitched in 18 games 0 starts. He has 2 saves. In 31.0 innings, he's given up 29 hits and 13 runs, 10 earned. He's struck out 27 and walked 11. His GO/AO is 0.94. Opponents average .246 against him this season.
  22. Ryan Pressly stands at 6'3", 205 lbs and is a right handed relief pitcher in Rochester. He was drafted out of High School by the Boston Red Sox in the 11th round in 2007. His first few seasons were spent mostly as a starter but he began pitching relief in earnest in 2012. Between the 2012 and 2013 seasons, the Twins acquired him in the rule V draft. They were required to keep him on the Major League Roster all year or risk losing him back to the Red Sox. It was not much of a sacrifice as he pitched respectably as a rookie. Numbers have, for the time being, pushed him off the 25 man roster.
  23. Sean got another start on Friday going 6 scoreless innings giving up only 5 hits. He walked 2 while striking out 9 earning his fifth win of the season.
