  1. I think with optional waivers he stays on the roster until he clears.
  2. It seems odd to me that the Twins were actually worried enough about losing organizational filler, Albers, that they were willing to effectively play a man short (Albers wasn't available to pitch after throwing 6 innings) while they waited for him to clear optional waivers.
  3. Two years ago, Suzuki only had a bad arm, now it's a liability. Also, less emphasis was placed on pitch framing then. I would say it's highly likely he had more value then. Now he has almost no value as his defense would be completely unacceptable in a playoff game, IMO. If we could get a Drew Butera type return (someone's 18 to 25 range prospect), I'd be ecstatic. If you really think we need him next year, we can resign him, I can't see anyone else offering him much more than a minor league contact with an opt out date or something similar. Personally, I'd rather move on. I think he's a detriment to our pitching staff. I'd rather have an all glove, no hit receiver with this pitching staff.
  4. No faith in Lamonte Wade?
  5. If you can get a similar return as Abad got, I think you take it in a heartbeat and laugh all the way to the bank. That would be a phenomenal return, IMO, and I doubt anyone here is suggesting we try to get more.
  6. Yikes. Everybody said it was nothing serious at first last time too, so those comments do nothing to calm my fears.
  7. That's how he has and SHOULD be used, of course. Not how Mollie plans to use him though. That could change, of course, but for now: “After talking with the Triple-A staff, Ryan was the guy they recommended,” manager Paul Molitor said. “He’s been stretched out a little bit more than just being a left-handed specialist. … He’s fresh and I know I can get a couple of innings out of him.” This is from Star Tribune. Mobile won't let me grab a link address.
  8. Molitor was quoted in the Strib as saying he planned on using O'Rourke for 2+ innings at a time.
  9. And Vargas continues to appear on milk cartons throughout Twins Territory. Unreal.
  10. Wimmers is a free agent at the end of the season. Another team can add him to their 40 (not 25) whether we add him now or not.
  11. And Albers pitched 6 innings yesterday, so we are effectively playing with a 24 man roster for no good reason.
  12. Buddy Boshers and Tommy Milone hit the DL in August of a lost season. Instead of using that as an opportunity to get a look at a couple of guys who might have a future with us, Antony gives us a couple of AAAA lifers in Albers and Dean. Sorry, not good enough, he's not the guy for the job.
  13. So they replaced him with a younger, right handed doppelganger. Oh boy!
  14. Let's stop lumping everyone in that era as a steroid user, please. The estimates I've seen are 30% at the peak of the steroid era. That still leaves 70% that were clean.
  15. Unless a team can prove an injury was from non baseball related activities. And I don't think we have any reason to believe this to be the case here.
  16. Gotta hold on to the bitter end, just in case we can squeeze some meaningless PTBNL or cash for him. Things like this are why I want our new GM to be from outside the organization.
  17. Apparently not. 2 HR's gets him a spot on the bench. I was waffling a bit after posting back and forth with Jack, and watching the Antony interview. But no, no, no. This whole FO and field staff needs a severe shake up.
  18. He looks good... the 1 day per week that Molitor lets him play.
  19. Good interview. I liked the majority of his answers. However, I have a beef with one of them. He claims that May was given a fair chance to compete for the rotation this spring. I'd really like to know what the parameters were for that competition because I seem to remember that May pitched better than any of the other competitors during ST.
  20. The stat you conveniently left out is the reason. What are their k rates? Also, Park having a low babip and Walker having a high babip means that Park is the one more likely to improve on his numbers.
  21. That's way too much to give up for Matt Shoemaker. I think Trevor May could give you about the same results in the rotation as Shoemaker. I'd rather just move him to the rotation and keep Gonsalves, Stewart and Dozier.
  22. How many thirds of an inning does he get this time before they send him back down?
  23. Plouffe is not a free agent. If we want him back the price is 9 or 10 million. We can non tender him, but then he's going to sign somewhere that he doesnt have to compete with a young superstar for his position. Someone might get him for less, but if we want him the price is 9 or 10 million.
  24. It's a soft cap with penalties. It's meant to leave teams with a decision. There is nothing unethical about it. If they never intended for anyone to actually overspend, they would have made it a hard cap.
