  1. Why would he need to spend next year in the minors? He'll slot into the Angels rotation to open next season.
  2. Labor day weekend of a 100 loss season. How many guys can there be in the 5th row?
  3. Plouffe is still under team control for one more season.
  4. I think the main reason that very few guys on that list had any success is because if you are allowed to hit that many home runs in a season, and still spend all of it in the minors, then you are probably a very flawed prospect.
  5. The way he's hitting this year, I'd ask for quite a haul for him.
  6. So let that team have him.
  7. That doesn't mean he didn't clear waivers. The waiver process is private and not formally announced. It could just mean there was no leak this time.
  8. So the reason I was told that Vargas had to go down was because we had to showcase Plouffe for a trade. Then Plouffe plays really well, and still has zero trade value. Something is conflicting here. If no amount of success was going to give him trade value, why was he ever playing?
  9. Missed the entire season with mono, which seems bizarre to me.
  10. I could be wrong, but I think it's based off when they sign, not when they debut. Diaz signed before the 2013 Rule V draft, even though he didn't debut until 2014.
  11. IMO, it should factor in. I can see an argument for basing it only on the stats, with no context whatsoever, and that's fine. But to me, and clearly the guys voting here, the context does matter.
  12. 3-5, 13 yards. Down 0-7 to maybe the worst FCS team in the country. Meet the new Mitch Leidner , same as the old Mitch Leidner.
  13. I thought that was the fear of Triscuits .
  14. Because barring a platoon, lefties get to face opposite handed pitching twice as often as righties do. Against opposite handed pitching you can be longer with your swing because you pick up the ball a lot earlier.
  15. 1) It's actually highly unlikely that Sano is anywhere near his peak. The guy is 23 years old. 2) If we only get Dozier like production from Sano, most people on this board will be very disappointed, and should be. Dozier is a nice player, I like him, always have, always have defended him. But, he's not a guy anyone outside of Twins territory will remember in 10 years. Sano should blossom into a superstar. You are correct that Sano would bring back a bigger return. But since he's likely not even close to his peak yet, and under team control for at least 5 more seasons, it would be stupid to trade him now. Reconsider it if we are still not close 3 or 4 years from now.
  16. This team is going to lose 100+ games, and is giving major playing time in August to never will be's like Albers, Dean, O'Rourke, and Schaefer. I mean, if this team is not still far away, then I don't know that you'd ever say a Twins team was.
  17. You answered your own question on accident. Those guys are ALWAYS at peak value. There is no reason to trade them until you have to. Plus, they are all young enough (except maybe Votto) to be a big part of their teams next WS contention. Santana and Dozier will likely never have as much trade value as they do now. And Santana for sure, and likely Dozier will never be a big part of the next contending Twins team.
  18. Adding Garver and calling him up on September won't burn an option this year. If he is sent back down next year, it would burn one then. But, that is unavoidable either way, because Garver HAS to be added to the 40 man this winter anyways.
  19. Keeping "long term familiar family faces", even though they are clearly at their peak trade value is how you end up with a guy like Glen Perkins.
  20. DJ Baxendale will be 26 this year. Even if he stayed up for good, he'd be 33 years old before he hit free agency. I don't think starting his clock is an issue.
  21. How is Berrios supposed to rest his arm in the winter leagues? Is he just going to go as a cheerleader? And, unless the state of Georgia is part of the Caribbean now, I'm not sure what winter league you think Buxton is going to play in.
  22. Actually, the Twins are exactly the kind of team that should be trying to buy low on him. There are no expectations for at least one more year, so if he doesn't work out, there was never anything to spoil in the first place, and you just cut him. If he does get it turned around, you can either keep him, or trade him for a nice package.
