  1. Maybe there is still more coming, but a 30 day suspension at a time of year when there isn't much for a GM to do anyways seems pretty weak.
  2. That depends. If I'm an unproven up and coming guy who might only get 1 or 2 offers, then yeah I'd be cautious but still consider it. If I'm a guy like AA or Cherrington, someone who probably is confident they can get a GM spot anytime, then it's a huge red flag and probably takes a team completely off the table. Why even risk putting yourself in a spot where you have to deal with meddling owners?
  3. I mean, unless it's an emergency, is a 1 hour flight really that different than a 2 hour flight? And do those saying that it might be because he already was in talks for the Toronto job realize that this is not a lateral move? He is 3rd in line in Toronto. Nobody in the world is going to fault him for pulling out of that job because he got offered a top spot somewhere. Mackey and Judd just discussed this a few minutes ago. Mackey heard that the reason several candidates have declined is because our organizational infrastructure is several years behind that of many clubs.
  4. It's not even about Molitor specifically. Heck, a new GM might come in here and want a look at Mollie, who knows. It's the fact that the owner is forbidding the GM from firing him. That is meddling. That is going to make a GM candidate think, "OK, I'm actually fine with Molitor for a year, but how do I know this owner isn't going to meddle in other things too."
  5. But guys are passing on us to be 2nd fiddle elsewhere, not even for other top spots. That is the most disturbing aspect to me.
  6. Jeff Passan – Verified account ‏@JeffPassan Sources: Ben Cherington isn't the only exec who has turned down interview with Twins. Multiple GM types have rebuffed their interest so far. Anyone still insist that Pohlad forbidding the new GM from firing Molitor won't affect the search? And if so, what do you think the reason is?
  7. Can you give examples of things Goin is doing that are good? I mean specific examples that can be compared to other teams. I'm not saying he's not good at his job. I just don't know how we have any idea.
  8. Yep. I know some people disagree, but to me the goal is to win the World Series. Division banners do nothing for me. I'll take 1 WS trophy and 5 90 loss seasons over 6 division banners and 6 one and dones every day of the week.
  9. Any word on how lovable he is?
  10. I'll never understand why people feed the trolls. They tend to leave if there is no food.
  11. I take it you agree with Jham (I think it was him, sorry if not), that the Royals somehow luck boxed into consecutive World Series appearances?
  12. Maybe I need to be wearing a tinfoil hat. But, I'm a little worried that using Dozier as the face regarding NEXT season's tickets, could Pohlad add, "you can't trade Dozier" along with the Molitor ultimatum to the next GM?
  13. Late bloomer? Dude, Sano is 23 years old. Of course he is going to improve. And he was already at Bryant's level last year, as a 22 year old rookie. Sure, he's had a sophomore slump this year, but I'd be shocked if he didn't bounce back next year and put up 150 OPS+ or better. Trading a guy of Sano's talent with 5 years of team control remaining would be pretty much unprecedented. And it would be a hail Mary to think you are going to get a better player back.
  14. Sano had an OPS+ of 149 last year, at age 22. Bryant is at 156 this year, as a 24 year old. I'd give Sano a 40% chance of being the better offensive player.
  15. You mean the polished college hitter put up better milb numbers than the 16 year old? Sano's debut, at age 22 was better than Bryant's debut at age 23. How about we see what Sano can do in his age 24 season before we decide that he can't put up Bryant numbers.
  16. He's not part of the future. Any AB's he gets come at the expense of someone who will be. It's not about wins and losses at this point.
  17. Exactly. Molitor doesn't seem to understand that just because the GM gives you Schaefer and Beresford, doesn't mean you have to play them. That's on Mollie, not the FO. And, he's been doing that all year.
  18. The minor league coverage here at TD is second to none in this market. And, unfortunately, it's really been the only thing Twins related that I look forward to the last few years. Keep up the good work guys.
  19. I agree with diehard here. It's OK to say that Granite is a solid prospect in a different way than most, but also that he doesn't really belong in HITTER of the year conversation.
  20. I don't think his bat can ever play in a corner spot, can it? I mean he's likely a .665 max OPS guy in the MLB.
  21. Why would you DL Mauer (or anyone) in September?
  22. I don't think anyone here wants the hire to be an old school type of guy like LaRussa.
  23. Now that the trade deadline has passed, there is no good reason for Plouffe to play another game this season. Unless he's needed because of injuries.
  24. Unless Stewart can drastically improve his k rate, his upside is probably Nick Blackburn.
  25. He has one more option year remaining.
