  1. Or we could do Molitor's plan which is apparently to play him at DH everyday and see if that makes him a better DH.
  2. Sano at DH again. He's going to get a lot better at 3B doing that.
  3. Absolutely, I want a smart, informed, thought out hire. I don't want a lazy flavor of the month hire like you described above. I will keep an open mind. If Antony is the hire, I might grumble for a few weeks, but I'll give him a chance. If he makes some significant changes in the organization I'll have some curious interest in what he can do. If he deems the status quo as good to go, I'll believe he was the wrong hire, because there is no way that Terry Ryan was the only person at fault for the last 6 years.
  4. Rustic could be the difference between awful and below average though. And with his bat, an upgrade to below average would be adequate.
  5. I don't disagree. We don't know all the facts, so we have to go off of what we do know. I really like a lot of the talent in our organization, and I'm guessing the fangraphs commentator does too. Somewhere in the organization there is a disconnect that is preventing it from showing up in on field results. Sure, his specific comment may be lazy, but again, I think it was intentional hyperbole.
  6. It's not just one ST and 40 games though. Last year he came up after half a season and played DH the rest of the way. The year before that he missed after TJ surgery. He's only played 111 games at 3B in the last 35 months. I'm willing to at least give the rust theory a test.
  7. Or, if he is part of the solution, maybe they hire a VP of baseball operations from outside to do all those assesments, and keep Antony on as GM.
  8. I don't claim to know if Antony is qualified or not. Personally, I'd like an outside hire simply because I want unbiased, objective eyes to evaluate every single position in the organization. Rob Antony is human, we all sometimes make irrational or biased assessments of people that we care about or have close and longstanding relationships with. Perhaps Rob is able to compartmentalize all that and still make objective assesments, I don't know. I can't help but think it would hard to fire people you know personally. Maybe Rob would make a great GM. I'd prefer he get that chance somewhere else.
  9. I would imagine it was meant as hyperbole. I don't think it's unfair, based on results the last 6 years, and the fact that one of the most loyal organizations in the history of professional sports fired it's long time GM, to say that the Twins front office has been a failure.
  10. He's got an OPS 70 pts higher with RISP, and 100 pts higher with men on base, than he does with the bases empty. His approach in those situations seems pretty solid right now. Of course, he will mature as a hitter, he's only 23, but I wouldn't want him to change his approach very much. The strikeouts are part of his game and they don't bother me at all.
  11. Because if a voter leaves one of those guys off their ballot then they are not fit for the job.
  12. It doesn't matter what number it is on a list of issues. It's something that he should be learning in the minors. That's all I'm saying.
  13. Trying to win games in the minors, at the expense of development, explains a lot of our problems, such as Buxton not being able to bunt, and Rosario being allergic to walks.
  14. Throwing overhand is a completely unnatural motion. I suspect each body has an individual limit, and no amount of training will ever get them beyond that.
  15. Probably from the same people that got us into this mess in the first place.
  16. Ahhh yeah. I forgot about the knucklehead that tried to fight Nolan Ryan.
  17. So you think that Puig "needs" more time in AAA? Or do you think the Dodgers put him there while they figure out what to do with him? I'm guessing it's the latter.
  18. I'm not disputing that. Just pointing out that it wouldn't block Kepler either way.
  19. He's at DH tonight. I'm baffled by how they think he's going to improve his defense by DH'ing.
  20. Well plenty of people wanted to keep Hicks as a stop gap to give Buxton more time at AAA, though I won't argue there were some who wanted a Rosario, Buxton, Hicks OF. Regardless, Rosario needs a lot more time in AAA, so there would still be room for Kepler.
  21. Is Kennys Vargas in the witness protection program?
  22. Guys who have done what he's done so far with the bat at age 23 don't need any more time in AAA. And it's not one weekend. Look at his numbers as a whole. It's not like he's hit like Buxton up until this weekend. Of course he still takes bad at bats, he's 23 years old. He'll continue to have bad at bats for a few more years. But, he'll also put up monster numbers overall.
  23. Keeping Hicks was more about giving Buxton more time in AAA, so I'm not sure what that has to do with Rosario and Kepler. Also, in regards to Rosario, he's still swinging at everything, and having a good run of luck. Unless he learns how to take more than 1 walk per month, the bad Rosario is never going to be too far away.
  24. I'm not sure why you would give Antony any credit for the current hot streak. It's not the result of anything he's had time to do so far.
