For a team going to ridiculous lengths to save money they would never pay that kind of money in a guaranteed contract to a fired employee. Plus firing him would be admitting mistake. That will never happen.
I agree. I always thought that was a pipe dream. What I was looking for was new ownership getting rid of Falvey and Baldelli. Now there is no hope. I wouldn't call that handwringing though. And no one right now wants to be told to "get over it".
That's what it all comes down to. They trade away talent for prospects when there is little prospect in seeing them develop into talented MLB players.
There is no hope.
My granddaughter just went to a local AAA game because it was Harry Potter night. I doubt she knew any of the names of the players. I think a lot of people at games, kids and adults, aren't paying a lot of attention. That's what the owners count on.
Which means Baldelli and his spreadsheet will stay as well. I didn't care who owned the team and how much money they had to spend wasn't the most important thing. Changing the front office and the managers/couches was.
I've already been transitioning some of my attention to other teams this season but it's hard to let go of my team that I chose in 1961 listening to the magic radio in my bed room.
My favorite is the one where is arms are out in front like he's a seven year old in an arcade playing the game where you drive a car. He's gripping the wheel and making brrrrrrrr motor noises with his lips.
He is the child on the team.
The Correa qoute that stick with me is in 22 when he left for more $$$, he said he needed to think of his family and provide for them. I wondered about a lifestyle where you need tens of millions to provide for your family.
