  1. Sure, the Twins could bring back Fernando Rodney, but it'd be a sign that, "this year, we're just playing for funsies" Twins could also sign Big Sexy and Boomstick while they're at it. Big fun!
  2. I like Gordon but Castro had a good year and the Twins just signed Goodrum. They won't need three utility guys (or four if you count Farmer, too).
  3. Nice analysis, thanks. And a very nice turn of phrase: " . . . the team must keep the toothpaste in the tube."
  4. If Miami is fixed on getting a SS and a C in return, then the Twins may be out of luck. They don't have talent to spare at those positions. But if the Pasquantino rumor is true, then Julien and Kepler would not be a bad offer. I think Polanco has at least 3 more good years. Twins need to keep him. And Julien's value is at its peak right now.
  5. So is my assumption correct (and maybe obvious to everyone else) that Ohtani's contract with the Dodgers will allow them to pursue Yamamoto, both financially and with a little peer-to-peer lobbying from their new star? Also, love the Willi Castro factoid. He's entitled to a little clubhouse strutting this spring.
  6. OK, the knee surgery was a success and rehab is going great. My worry is less about the knees and more about between the ears. Will Buxton be able to play with confidence? Swing freely at the plate and run freely in the field? Or will he be focused on not getting injured again? Really pulling for the guy to figure it out this season, both for the Twins sake and his own.
  7. Twins have been interested in Stroman in the past, but imho his 2023 season wasn't bad enough to bring his price tag down to a number the Twins can afford.
  8. If Vasquez is traded, then presumably the Twins would immediately look for a cheap veteran catcher to sign as backup. In fact, I'd assume they are looking already. Who's available?
  9. Thank you for a really interesting take on a guy I had only negative impressions of, based mostly on the Ramirez incident. This is a case where I'd really like to know what other MLB players think of Anderson, both on the field and in the clubhouse. If he's flexible about what position he plays, then the possibilities are intriguing.
  10. Maeda in his second year after TJ could be a great value in 2024. I was surprised he didn't get a start against Houston in the division series. He was pitching better than Joe Ryan late in the season, was he not? And he might go for the kind of incentives-heavy contract the Twins are likely to offer.
  11. I don't understand how Phil Cuzzi and 2 other umpires (I won't name them, but their initials are A.H. and H.W.) still have jobs as major league umpires.
  12. We take Polanco's excellence for granted because he's been great for so long. Think of the large contracts dropped on players in recent years (looking at you, Donaldson and Gallo) who vastly underperformed. Even when he's gotten hurt, Polanco recovers and excels. Picking up his option - heck, sign him to a new 3 year deal - isn't be a hard decision.
  13. Thought sure you were headed toward Randy Johnson. I expect Kody would be happy with that comparison.
  14. Apologies in advance for how crazy this sounds. But if Buxton were my age (old!), he'd have already gotten a knee replacement. Anyone know of a professional athlete who has competed on an artificial knee? Because knee replacement sure sounds like what he needs.
