    That would be an good reset back to where we were 6-7 years ago. Before Sinclair obscenely over paid for the RSNs, leveraged them to the hilt, raised the carriage fees and pissed off the streaming services.

    The broadcast team (camera operators, producers, announcers) migrated from Fox Sports to Bally. I expect they will go to MLB or the next broadcasting company... whomever decides to pick it up. As to MLB.tv, the local games are available, but not in real time. Usually, a few hours after the game finishes. Or, VPN seems to work on a PC, not so much on the app... YMMV

    In order to replace the team contract revenue (which funds most MLB payrolls), that would require north of 25 million subscribers. Most recent information I can find indicates MLB.tv has 3.5 million. And that doesn't cover operating costs for broadcasts. The subscription price would need to be much higher. The Diamond/Sinclair model only worked because they were able to extort a subscription for virtually every cable subscriber in the country.

    I am totally sold on Gordon! Learning a new defensive position while still being the 2nd best hitter on the team! That screams baseball talent!

    I'm optimistic because the FO has responded to a year with unheard of injury with a level of unheard of depth.

    And don't the RSN contracts provide a significant source of revenue for many of the teams?

    This sounds like insanity! Are pitchers being coached to stress their arms and bodies beyond what is physically sustainable? I don't have any knowledge on the matter, just putting the question out there.

    That is an excellent way to maximize return with limited resources... as long as your good decisions outnumber the poor ones.

    It is curious that MLB just did feature on the top 10 1st basemen… Arreaz came in at #9. I’d say he has a position.

    I think we've only begun to see the real Nick Gordon. With the medical issues behind him and getting consistent playing time due to all the injuries in 2022, he was finally able show some of his true potential.

    And the truly idiotic thing is... MLB thinks local viewing competes with tickets sales so they blackout the games. Turns out if you can't watch a few games on TV and get to know the team, you have less incentive to buy a ticket and see them play in a great stadium on a beautiful summer night.

    Alex, you are spot on! Correa did not agree to spend his remaining career with the Twins without addressing competitiveness. Having been a Twins fan for longer than I will admit, it has been a roller coaster of good, ugly and amazing baseball. We've been in the ugly the last couple of years. But I think the future is bright... might even have to change my profile name 🤩

    I think stealing is an example of how analytics break down. There is an unmeasurable factor where the threat of a steal changes the behavior and focus of the other team. When Buxton is on base, the pitcher is less focused on the batter and the infielders make worse decisions. It is disruptive. Now that all the teams use analytics, the advantage goes to teams that can exploit these "breaks".

    I think the thing that irritates about Dobnak is that the FO so seldom makes these contracts, and this one went south. If they had made a dozen of these and one went bad, it would be cost of doing business.

    Totally agree! Seemed to be a lot of mutual respect shown. I came away with a new respect for the Twins organization!

    I do think payroll becomes an issue if they intend to truly compete. That will take more parts than just Correa. I don't think he comes here for more than a year unless the Twins are willing to build out.

    I expect there are a lot of moving parts to a contract with the Twins... - Twins need to cover any true medical issues - Correa needs a deal that makes him the king of the off-season from his perspective - Twins need to convince Correa that they intend to compete - The offer needs to be insurable - And there is the pesky reality of payroll
