What I saw last night was Buxton finally doing what he should be doing. He had good at bats and not swinging for the fences. When he is on base he makes the other team nervous. The other thing was getting the leadoff hitter on inning after inning and to 3rd base by stealing 2nd and hitting behind the runner. With Wallner and Correa probably out for awhile this is the kind of baseball that has to be played.

The biggest problem is the manager,he thinks that 1st base,SS and CF are the only everyday positions. It's musical chairs for all other positions. Then the other problem is the FO fires him and puts Tingler as interm manager and he is just a different face but the same guy. The Polhad's deserve what they have with this team, but the fans don't.

Don't worry be happy!! Their back to playing bad baseball. The pitchers don't hit and apparently now can't make throws to first. And the 2 big dollar players are hitting like pitchers. And all the folks saying the starters look good, they are toast in 5 innings or less. Ryan was at 40+ pitches after 2 innings and 100 after 5. At this rate they will need to be looking at the waiver wire for BP arms by May 1st.

Tigers 4, Twins 0: Outplayed Every Which Way
David Maro replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
All I can say is that I'm glad my phone provider give me MLB TV because I certainly wouldn't pay for this. I usually come to town for father's day and attend a game but told family let's go to a steak dinner instead. Watching this game was like watching a little league game. Listening to Rocco talk about Paddock what was he watching,I saw a pitcher going 3-2 on hitter after hitter. I'm tired of the booth piling on the praise for this team. They are a bunch of you know what kissers. All the talk about Correa this and that will be over soon. He wants to win and can't with this little league team. By June he will be dropping the no trade clause and want out. This is a lifeless team and the management has lost them. They have earned 5th place and look like they will remain there.- 112 replies

This team has now started to invent ways to lose games. Let's hit a down lineup partime player to get to the top of the lineup. The one good thing about tonight is the game is on Apple TV so I won't see it.

Can't score runs when you strike out 12 times. We were told they were going to change their hitting philosophy. I guess that change was don't get the ball in play, just strike out. Correa finally gets a hit and ends up not even moved to 3rd base. The game is called baseball when will this team learn that if ever. The only good thing from last night was because of where I live I couldn't see the game.

3 Signs Byron Buxton Is Finally Healthy
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Last time I looked bat speed means very little when you strike out 4 times. He will never be the player he could of been. He is someone who now believes he is a power hitter. He should be using his speed to run bases and be a problem for the other team. Hopefully Lewis won't end up turning into another Buxton as well. Unfortunately that seems to be headed in that direction. -
Mistakes all around in this one,Bader's throw to 2nd not to Correa cost a run. Not getting the BP up after Paddock's walk to the leadoff hitter to start the 5th. Having Castro at 3rd who looked like he had never played the position. I could go on with more but I won't. One last thing that I have said for at least 2 years Varland isn't a pitcher,he is a thrower. He is clueless on where the ball is going when he throws it.

How about benching a player for swinging at 3 pitches neck high and inside. Then swinging at a pitch that bounced on the plate. Apparently he has lost the ability to know the zone. It's time to make moves with players who don't have their heads in the game. This team has become too wily nilly and the manager has lost them.

Good to win but there has to be concern about the 50 million spent on the 2 leaders. Don't think the FO thought they were paying for their gloves only. As of today they are well under the Mendoza line combined.

This is carry over from last year and they look like they aren't interested in playing baseball. The games are one sided with them on the wrong side. It is hard to watch a listless team when they are losing by multiple runs after 1 inning. This needs to be addressed now not later or the season is in trouble. I know it is easy to put this on Rocco, but that is were it belongs.

The team looked flat and over matched all weekend. Castro was the only one who showed up to play. To be a clutch hitter you need to have other people's help by getting on base. The pitching didn't help either by walking and hitting hitters. Guess we'll see if things change in Chicago.

Time for a reality check, the team has 70 million go to 3 part time players. Why on earth would they sign another one to big money. This team is operating on a limited payroll and will need to start paying players who play. This year Lopez is at 21 million adding him to the Correa and Buxton payroll. And saying Vasquez catch Lopez last night would have made a difference is silly. When you throw a pitch in the middle of the zone it is going to get hit no matter who the catcher is.

The Twins' TV Cable Channels Are Here
David Maro replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Spoke to family members about having to put out $100.00 for the games and they said not interested. It's time to say enough is enough when it comes to having to pay for another channel. It is starting to look like everyone is going to have a dozen or more apps to pay for watch anything. To think this team will have millions buy in is dreaming. -
Being a ball player with a back issue is a big problem. You're bending down for ground balls and then swinging a bat as well. This maybe a AK situation that Lee will need to retire before proving himself. It looks like Martin will be on the Opening day roster to help cover the infield.

Let's be honest here this team is not equal to or better than the Tigers or Royals. They have a SS and CFer who will miss a number of games. The catcher position is a 50-50 position that is just OK not good. All other positions are up in the air with Rocco rotating players here there and every where. Yes pitching seems to be pretty good, but bad defense will hurt that as well. It kinda looks like they will be fighting Cleveland for 3rd place in the central.
-
Here we go again with a Lewis injury, the FO did the right thing by not signing him to a extension. The team now will be playing musical chairs at 3rd just like last year. The FO had the off season to do something about the infield problems and didn't. Starting the season with questions at 1st,2nd and now 3rd again is a big deal. Looks like the so called infield defense improvement is on hold to start the season.

Minnesota Twins 2025 Position Analysis: Second Base
David Maro replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let's be honest here the infield is a mess. You have no clue who will be playing 1st 2nd or 3rd. Everyone knows C4 has SS covered if healthy. The FO has allowed the infield to become a real problem as they did with LF. They have numerous players who have defensive issues at what ever position they play or weak offensively.- 37 replies

The bigger problem with a poor infield defense is giving teams extra outs. And extra outs means extra pitches thrown. If Lewis is playing 3rd he needs to stop imitating Correa with the 90 mile hr. throws. With most teams having heavy LH hitting lineups 1st and 2nd base really looks problematic. ST needs to spend hours working to find who will man those two positions.

Louie's biggest problem is he is a thrower not a pitcher. His mentality is he can blow pitches by hitters. He needs to work this ST on pitch location and movement. Why everyone thinks pitchers need to throw 100+ to get hitters out. Looking across the league the pitchers doing that seem to end up with shoulder or arm issues. Just look at Stewart as one example for the Twins.
