  1. No, it isn't. The professional ranking systems rank the 2024 Twins minor league prospect rankings anywhere from #9 to #17 or so. None rank the Twins as "super bad."
  2. Wichita's roster was the weakest last year. NOT this year. Nowlin, Ohl, Raya and Adams in the rotation. E-Rod, Rosario, Schobel, Cardenas, Cossetti, etc at the plate. They should be very good. Cedar Rapids - you get to watch some great pitching (Matthews, MacLeod, Morris, Culpepper and Bowen in the rotation). Fort Myers - if anyone can hit in that pitchers league, it's these guys (Jenkins, Rodriguez, Chourio, Doncon, Winokur). Let the fun begin! And as @jmlease1 said, Cory Lewis has to be added to one of these teams, presumably Wichita.
  3. That's because the Twins starters were so good last year and went deep into games. The long man in the pen isn't going to be someone they think will be great someday. Those guys can't sit in the bullpen for two weeks without pitching. As @Danchat said, one long outing and he's on the train to St. Paul for the next guy to wait for his long outing. Most, if not all, teams use that last man in the pen (long man) this way. Hopefully Sands improves but I don't think he will.
  4. Amazing how much better some of the bullpen guys have started out vs. how they looked in spring training.
  5. It will be. I believe the Twins like to manage many of the young guys total innings and start by doing this early in the season. Festa was throwing 6 innings in the playoffs in 2022 with Cedar Rapids. Last year, he wasn't as dominant and thus threw more pitches, which limited his per game innings pitched more in AA. I would really like to see his walks return to 2022 level.
  6. I believe we got him in the minor league Rule 5 draft last year. Played the full year at Wichita in AA last year. He isn't a power guy, despite hitting a homer today. High average hitter. Doesn't play CF either. Good player. Probably will do well for the Saints. Just don't see that path to the majors for him.
  7. Julien just gets things going. When he gets on, things happen. Everyone else covered the other good points.
  8. Isola isn't really a catcher. Plays 1b and DH more. Same is basically the case for Williams. If he wants to have a sure route to the majors, he should get better at catching. I'm sure he has. Just don't think he will be able to play well enough there for that to be with a MLB team. Therefore, Camargo and Winkel will get most of the catching duties.
  9. They still don't need anyone - Holland played 64 games in the OF last year, Helman 43 in 2022 when he wasn't injured. Prato 18 games out there last year, not as much as in prior years. They transfered Dalton Shuffield to the Saints and I see he has played some OF before. Shuffield just goes wherever the Twins need him, yo-yoing every where.
  10. Is Kepler out? Counting him with Martin, Margot, and Farmer, I get 4.
  11. Rocco plays everyone and rotates players in the regular season. I think we will see him in LF and Wallner in RF when Kepler gets a day off, especially with Kepler banging up his foot in game #1.
  12. Martin and Helman's best route to the majors is through the OF and they are both good out there. Holland is actually also good in the OF but he can't hit much of anything. All three of these guys steal bases. Lots of speed in the OF. Oh, Prato plays LF as well. This team is filled with guys who are utility guys. I think they will be exciting to watch.
  13. Hadn't thought about the possible connection of this to the ACL injuries. If so, seems to mean it could happen again. Where's our TD doctor to give us some further insight..........
  14. In other bad minor league injury news. Canterino and Prielipp both on the 60 Day IL.
  15. I don't think the Twins see Miranda as a third baseman anymore and have him at 1B. Severino is less ready than Martin IMO so I say it will be Martin.
  16. Julien has to play every day. His at bats drive pitchers crazy, increasing their pitch count. I think that alone helps the hitters behind him. A win, yes. But the Lewis injury isn't good.
  17. Quality over quantity - Lewis, Julien and Wallner.
  18. 84 wins and a division title. Thus, no selection was available.
  19. Harry - Unless he's the 2nd coming of Luis Arraez, (doesn't strike out and hits for average) he will probably follow in the footsteps of Ernie Yake (recently released) and Dalton Shuffield. They yo-yo up and down the minors at different levels, wherever needed. In the end, not enough power or speed and he's probably limited to 2B and they end of being released after a successful minor league career. Garry - if he could ever get his bat going, he's got some skills in other areas to move up. Blewitt - don't know anything about him except just his name scares me if we bring him in with a lead.
  20. Wallner with two homers in recent games. If can get in the groove now, that would be nice. Other than the corner outfielders and Farmer, the Twins hitters stats look good.
