  1. This draft tells me two things: 1. The Twins love the current crop of pitchers in the minors (Festa, Matthews, Raya, Morris, MacLeod, Nowlin, Lewis, Soto to name a few). 2. We aren't trading any of this pitching away in deadline or off-season trades. I get the feeling that Fort Myers and Cedar Rapids will give up a few more runs next season.
  2. Keirsey had his first bad week, going 1 for 18 without a walk. Rubel Cespedes hot start has faded (3 for 21 and 8 for his last 40). Jose Salas was only 2 for 21 again and Gus Gonzalez had a rough week in Wichita. Sabato only played in 1 game and Doncon played in two. Did I miss some injuries?
  3. Small correction - Camargo did catch in the 9th inning on Sunday.
  4. In 2024, nearly 100% of the drafted players in the first 5 rounds (or more) already have an agreement with the team to sign at a certain $ amount (or range) or they don't draft them. Much better than the old days where teams would lose a high pick because they wouldn't sign.
  5. There are times we miss a legitimate backup CF on defense. Today was one where we would rather have had Margot in LF.
  6. I thought Buxton had a little difficulty at the end of the long run to try catch the ball late in the game last night. Maybe that's why he's out. I'm so pleasantly surprised that he has played CF this much already that I'm okay with continuing to try this to keep him healthy all year. I would rather have Castro in CF though, which is where Julien would help out.
  7. If you are a player that is drafted in the 1st round with an underslot pick, don't read these forums like TD. People will constantly refer to you as a failed 1st round pick if you don't perform like your draft pick slot.
  8. Julien fits the Farmer spot well on the Twins. Farmer is the 4th string SS at this point and only plays 2B and 3B (and he's 4th string there as well). Lee, Castro and Miranda have 3B covered at this point.
  9. I don't think starting pitching depth has been a problem, only because our starters have been so healthy. Credit the training staff (and maybe some luck). If we had to go 15 deep for starters like the Brewers, we would be in a heap of trouble.
  10. The Saints look different without Lee and Wallner in there and they are winning less now. Then, that affects all the teams as they have to call up Eeles from Cedar Rapids, Houghton from Fort Myers, etc.
  11. Like Eeles, the Saints needed a warm body and he was the right person to fill in. Great story but I'm not expecting him to ever reach the Twins.
  12. I've always supported the alternating catchers idea for this tandom. I find it incredible that they have both been healthy for 1.5 years and credit this rotation for that.
  13. St. Paul Saints site shows Festa called back up. He must be the extra man today in case long relief is needed in the double-header.
  14. A number of the Twins free agent signings have really started out great - Eeles, Hess, McCusker, Deardon are ones that I remember. Seems the Twins start them out at a level they can have success and move them up fairly quickly. But that success hasn't always continued, at least not right away, at their new home.
  15. That really has been the debate - Miller's A+ defense at SS vs Doncon's A grade hitting. If Miller can hit at all, he's a major leaguer. If Doncon can field at SS, he's a major leaguer. At this point, I get the impression that neither of those will happen. Doncon will have the additional option of playing 3B/2B as he moves up the ladder but he will then have to maintain his A grade hit tool. Interesting question marks on that Cedar Rapids team - can Gonzalez field at all to go with his hitting? Can Olivar stick at catcher as his hitting is excellent this year? Thanks for the in-person report @Dman. Always like these.
  16. He's on a rehab assignment right now in the FCL (unless you are saying he injured it for a third time).
  17. Kikuchi is the only ones the Twins would consider because of payroll and they won't offer the most for him.
  18. I wonder if Staumont needs longer rest between appearances to hit this speed on his fastball. The Twins certainly have been trying not to overuse him.
  19. Atteberry on the radio call - "Wouldn't it be something if Vazquez would hit one out to end it right here." Next pitch, home run!
  20. The current Kepler is more the "normal" Kepler. He had a great 2nd half last year and one other great year. Those are the outliers. I thought his defense dipped in early 2023 but since then he has been excellent out in RF. The Twins won't do a QO on him as I don't think he will get a $50 million deal this offseason due to his age and average hitting.
  21. He's playing almost all DH right now. To me, that says he isn't 100% and won't be promoted unless he gets there. The negative in low A is that the pitchers are scared of him. He has a ton of walks.
  22. Doncon and Olivar in the 1 and 2 spots in the lineup last night - 5 for 7 with 3 walks. Gonzalez had an off night, going 1 for 5 with only 1 RBI batting 3rd behind them.
  23. It does seem like the small crowd of "Miranda can't play defense and thus shouldn't be on the Twins" fans has gone silent.
  24. Couldn't do it. Henriquez has to be down in St. Paul for 15 days from the last demotion. He has about another week left.
