  1. The umps are supposed to be impartial. I'm not sure I would have reported it during the game (after the game, yes I would reported it in private conversation). But the umps and catchers usually have a close relationship. If I was umping, I would certainly have asked the catcher what in the world he was doing.
  2. "If the Twins go 1-2, the teams would finish tied, and the tiebreaker would move to intradivisional records, where the Twins hold a slim advantage (28-20 in the division, compared to Boston’s 20-21 with 11 divisional games left). " Slim?? That is a massive edge. If the Twins go 2-2 against Cleveland, Boston needs to go 10-1 to tie. If the Twins go 0-4 against Cleveland and 1-2 against Boston, there probably won't be a tie-breaker.
  3. Hard to believe anyone would want Kepler over Wallner next year. Great job by Wallner and the coaches in fixing the hole in his swing this spring.
  4. That is the really bad news for Eeles and McCusker. It's hard to give guys a shot in the majors when they usually struggle early AND aren't playing good defense.
  5. Cory Lewis with a great ERA and a bad win/loss record. Tells you a lot about the Wichita hitters (and sometimes the bullpen) after Rodriguez was injured.
  6. If your that worn out that you want the season to end, tell the team. With 4 games left, another catcher can probably be found from the FCL club that is done playing. I think there are even some catchers in Fort Myers who are just working on things in camp (could be wrong on that). Kudos to the opposing manager.
  7. Wow, Derek Bender, catcher for Fort Myers was telling the opposing team what pitches his pitcher was throwing, AND he did it in a game that knocked them out of the playoffs. And, if I'm correct, they lost by one game. He was not allowed to sit in the dugout for the last two games and has been cut.
  8. Has to be for late inning defense (which Martin hasn't shown) and speed on the bases. When/if Kepler returns, Keirsey will be sent down. On a separate issue, who do the Twins send down/cut when Correa returns? With Farmer playing so well now, it might actually be Julien.
  9. Why did Emmanuel Rodriguez exit the game after 1 AB? Also curious that Eeles was in CF and Rodriguez in RF.
  10. Vasquez on paternity leave. Camargo called up.
  11. Thanks for the great news to brighten our baseball day!
  12. There is no chance of that happening. The pitching pipeline is here and we will see how David Festa, SWR, Zebby Matthews, Andrew Morris and company do in 2025. The Twins are going to roll with these guys and find out what we have. Plus, with everyone (Raya, Lewis, MacLeod, etc.) needing to be on the 40 man roster by the end of 2025, I can see some trades. The Twins aren't going to add to that 40 man glut by signing any pitcher to two years.
  13. Go for the win today and take care of tomorrow, tomorrow. Probably no Duran, Jax, Sands or Alcala tomorrow so that will allow the others to have their chance to step up tomorrow.
  14. I think you and I are #1 and #2 in the Michael Helman fan club @DocBauer. Probably up for defensive flexibility and base running. Every AB you get Michael Helman is like gold. We're cheering for you!
  15. Prielipp just looks so good at times. With health, he's going to fly up through the minors. But I think the Twins will be very cautious with his workload, both within each game and for next season. Bowen seems like a Travis Adams clone. He throws hard but gets hit. Hopefully, some day, it will click like it has for Adams in the 2nd half.
  16. Prato and MacLeod would get my votes. Why didn't we send Emma Rodriguez to Cedar Rapids for rehab, where they can actually play baseball games? I would move MacLeod up to St. Paul. Not sure what Wichita is going to have left for pitching as they have lost almost an entire starting rotation to promotion. And how were they not winning the league this year with Matthews, Morris, Adams and MacLeod! I know, bullpen blowing games and Rodriguez injured. Still...........
  17. Taylor Rogers on waivers. He's not coming back to the Twins as he comes with a $12 million price tag for next year and apparently was the 8th best pitcher in the Giants bullpen according to their manager.
  18. Travis Adams has always thrown hard but, for the most part, has usually been hittable. This is the best streak I've seen him on. Maybe we have something here. Pierson Ohl really seems to have stalled out at AA though.
  19. "Lee did leave the game in the 8th, but it’s unclear whether it was: An act of mercy by Toby Gardenhire The Twins seeing enough from the youngster to deem him ok Lee’s injury acting up" No, it's probably #4. Like an unwritten rule - every rehabber (hitters) seems to leave the game in about the 7th or 8th inning.
  20. Bummer De Andrade missed so much time this year. Would like to have seen him have a chance to improve with the bat. Is he Noah Miller or does he go much higher?
  21. I agree that he should get a shot at MLB. But it is actually rare for any team to pick someone in the Rule 5 draft at his "advanced" age.
  22. Check out Matthews and Morris walk rates, among the best in all of the minor leagues. That's why they are our top pitching prospects.
