  1. Include me in the 87 strike season. I was 10 and had just relocated to South Central PA...mainly Steelers Country but also mix in some Redskin/Eagle fans. In a nut shell the old man said 'get used to it'. I have been getting used to for the last 30 years. It has become less significant in my life over the years but still really pi^^es a guy off at the same time.
  2. He was worth the price of admission by himself on days he pitched.
  3. He turns 32 during the season I believe. The max I would offer in duration would be 5 years. I would be willing to go more per year on a 4 year deal. I doubt he would sign a 4 year deal. No way I would go 6 years. Have a good one.
  4. Your 2nd one was exactly what I was going to say! That was a statement bomb for sure. In a similar fashion to T Hunt taking out a Sox catcher in 2004. http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=1847744 Morneau was a fantastic ball player. Very unfortunate he suffered that concussion. Great addition to have him back in the organization.
  5. NFC Championship game 1988. Just relocated to south central PA about 125 mi or so from DC. Some Redskin fans in the heart of mostly Steeler country there in that part of PA. Seeing that loss as a 10 year was devastating. The old man gave me a little talk on the history of heartbreak with the Vikings. Obviously there have been a few more instances since that game. If we make it I will miss work either way on Monday. Please oh please let it be for a Vikings victory!
  6. Really fun stuff. Thanks for the time in doing so.
  7. Thanks for taking the time it was an enjoyable read to be certain...the waitress thing a guy could really get used to along with those prices! Very interesting reading your opinions/observations on the players as well. Best of luck and take care.
  8. Given what he brings to the club from a talent standpoint and how he is able to help the younger Latin players in the clubhouse and on the field I would do Seth's suggested deal in a heart beat. That kind of $$$ is not out of line at all.
  9. The team control on the Archer contract is very appealing to this Twins fan. To get a starting pitcher of his stature for just over $8 million/avg per year over 4 years is a bargain in todays baseball payroll world. Obviously you are going to have to give up some good minor league talent in return that's the price of poker.
  10. Cheers...Twins Daily is the best!
  11. I also look at his 175 complete games...it would be interesting to dig up how many runs he gave up say after the 8th inning in those games? I bet in many occasions he told whomever the manager was at the time 'I got this' or something to that effect to save the bullpen the wear and tear on their arms. Congrats Jack.
  12. Thome is a no doubter to make it. As a Twins fan I would love to see Johan make it but believe it will be a stretch for him to do so. I hope I am incorrect on that assumption. The Koufax comparison is a very compelling argument for certain in Johan's favor. You never know what is in the writer's heads when it comes to how they vote.
  13. I would give him 4m in a heart beat.
  14. I would say very very low likelihood of 150 million. 125 would be the most I would see them going up to in 2018. Would be an instance where I would like to be incorrect but I just don't see it.
  15. This question or point certainly doesn't hold water but I think it would be interesting to ask those who are in the Hall who faced Morris if they feel he is HOF worthy or not?
  16. My gut tells me Molitor will not be back. There is certainly a case to be made for him earning a new contract given the turn around of the ball club. Personally I think the new FO wants a change of direction in the managers role. Don't see the potential new manager coming from within the organization either. I agree with Doubles take on having a person or people on their radar for the position.
  17. Pressure is 110% on New York...baseball world outside of Yankee fans want New York to lose...has no bearing on the game but lets roll with it anyway! Twins are young enough in certain aspects of the team to not know any better of past struggles in the Bronx. Through in some veterans who have been there before and a Hall of Fame player as manager who has been there before as a player along with Big Erv vs. the kid and it should be a great ball game. Twins 4 Yankees 3
  18. Go get em Erv...you have all of the baseball world minus Yankee fans in your corner!!!
  19. What a season. It says a lot about the drive/character of this team after the FO dealt Garcia/Kintzler. They got after it hardcore. In the grand scheme of things it means nothing for the outcome of the game but I guarantee every baseball fan who is not a Yankee lover will be rooting for our squad. WIN TWINS!!!!!
  20. Gotta love Vin...fantastic quote by the legend!
  21. "A hanging breaking ball is a gift from God. Don't miss your blessing." RIP Kirby...Byron didn't miss last night! To steal a phrase from the New Market Muskies amateur team where I live...LOOKIN LIKE A BALLCLUB!
