  1. Your 2nd one was exactly what I was going to say! That was a statement bomb for sure. In a similar fashion to T Hunt taking out a Sox catcher in 2004. http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=1847744 Morneau was a fantastic ball player. Very unfortunate he suffered that concussion. Great addition to have him back in the organization.
  2. NFC Championship game 1988. Just relocated to south central PA about 125 mi or so from DC. Some Redskin fans in the heart of mostly Steeler country there in that part of PA. Seeing that loss as a 10 year was devastating. The old man gave me a little talk on the history of heartbreak with the Vikings. Obviously there have been a few more instances since that game. If we make it I will miss work either way on Monday. Please oh please let it be for a Vikings victory!
  3. Really fun stuff. Thanks for the time in doing so.
  4. Given what he brings to the club from a talent standpoint and how he is able to help the younger Latin players in the clubhouse and on the field I would do Seth's suggested deal in a heart beat. That kind of $$$ is not out of line at all.
  5. The team control on the Archer contract is very appealing to this Twins fan. To get a starting pitcher of his stature for just over $8 million/avg per year over 4 years is a bargain in todays baseball payroll world. Obviously you are going to have to give up some good minor league talent in return that's the price of poker.
  6. Cheers...Twins Daily is the best!
  7. Thome is a no doubter to make it. As a Twins fan I would love to see Johan make it but believe it will be a stretch for him to do so. I hope I am incorrect on that assumption. The Koufax comparison is a very compelling argument for certain in Johan's favor. You never know what is in the writer's heads when it comes to how they vote.
  8. This question or point certainly doesn't hold water but I think it would be interesting to ask those who are in the Hall who faced Morris if they feel he is HOF worthy or not?
  9. Pressure is 110% on New York...baseball world outside of Yankee fans want New York to lose...has no bearing on the game but lets roll with it anyway! Twins are young enough in certain aspects of the team to not know any better of past struggles in the Bronx. Through in some veterans who have been there before and a Hall of Fame player as manager who has been there before as a player along with Big Erv vs. the kid and it should be a great ball game. Twins 4 Yankees 3
  10. Go get em Erv...you have all of the baseball world minus Yankee fans in your corner!!!
  11. What a season. It says a lot about the drive/character of this team after the FO dealt Garcia/Kintzler. They got after it hardcore. In the grand scheme of things it means nothing for the outcome of the game but I guarantee every baseball fan who is not a Yankee lover will be rooting for our squad. WIN TWINS!!!!!
  12. "A hanging breaking ball is a gift from God. Don't miss your blessing." RIP Kirby...Byron didn't miss last night! To steal a phrase from the New Market Muskies amateur team where I live...LOOKIN LIKE A BALLCLUB!
  13. Lets get to 85 wins secure the 2nd wild card go to NY and kick the bleep out of the Yankees!
  14. Couldn't agree more...I think it has everything on the negative side of the fan base to do with the number 23 as in million.
  15. I agree...I think there is ZERO chance he would sign a 2 year extension at 15/year. More like wanting 15 per year for 4 years.
  16. I agree and what a fantastic baseball story that would be! 44 year old Big Sexy starting game 1 of the ALDS!
  17. It is August 10th and we are speaking of the Twins being 1.5 GB. of a playoff spot! They have certainly had many ups/downs which is typical in a traditional baseball season. They are giving fans a reason to at least remain engaged. For those of us on Twins Daily great cordial debate on what they should/should not do etc. For me I see a team that is internally on a mission for themselves to prove to each other they are a good baseball team. Certainly not a great team but a team that is going to bust it hard in how they play. They didn't fold the tents in after that West Coast trip and the moves the FO made. I think that is part of their motivation inside the clubhouse. Hopefully we can continue to enjoy a great ride for the next 50 games! It would be fantastic if the last 10 games or so were a legit playoff atmosphere. WIN TWINS
  18. Certainly have an opportunity to get him back in the off season as he is a free agent. He was very solid in a Twins uniform. Good luck Brandon! Great example of not giving up and continuing to put in the work.
  19. Great article Seth...I think the questions raised within will give great insight as to the new FO'S take on this season and the future of the roster and minor league system. Personally I don't see them going the rental route. I think they want players that they would have at least a couple of years of team control over.
  20. Gold jacket/green jacket who gives a s^^t...great swing to emulate. Somehow someway figure it out Byron we believe in ya kid.
