  1. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but Buxton's triple last night was the second fastest in the MLB this year, to Billy Hamilton. A 10.69 compared to Hamilton's 10.66. And Hamilton's came as a left handed batter.
  2. Looks like there are. Kevin Newman, Jorge Mateo, and Amed Rosario are all pretty good prospects. Plus, Nick Gordon has been slumping a little too
  3. Vargas has a .755 OPS in AAA right now. Park is at .782 facing MLB pitching for the first time. Those numbers are just not going to cut it for Vargas as a DH-only player.
  4. The Buxton/Sano/Kepler trade proposals are obviously waaaay too much. If a team could pry a player with the talent of one of those three away from a team for a #3 starter, it would be the Braves though. I still cannot believe that Arizona gave up Dansby Swanson for Shelby Miller.
  5. It looks like they are taking another day. Neither are in the lineup against the A's today.
  6. That's what a .100 BA with RISP will do for you. Park's also hitting just .154 with anyone on base, compared to .271 with the bases empty.
  7. It never made sense to me either, but 2 years ago it was Josh Harrison's versatility and then Holt last year that were used as justifications for them being all stars. Almost any all star player could play a different position for a few innings if needed anyway.
  8. That's right, thanks. I remember being annoyed that they didn't pick Bogaerts instead of Holt, which I thought would have maybe led to Brian Dozier being named to the team earlier.
  9. Between the Chattanooga, Fort Myers, and Cedar Rapids outfielders, it looks like only Palka and Wade are top 20 prospect types. I'm not sure how that compares to other organizations, but that seems a little low to me.
  10. My argument for why Eduardo Nunez is deserving for this year's game is last year's selection of Brock Holt, who was hitting .292 with a .791 OPS and 2 HR at the break last year. And he wasn't even the Red Sox only selection. On a related note, why does positional versatility matter at all in a one game all star game?
  11. I'd say it's Eduardo Nunez right now, but I'm hoping Miguel Sano goes on a tear sometime soon and gets picked.
  12. Bring him up within the next few weeks. Waiting until August/September puts the Twins in the same unsure state of whether or not Buxton can be counted on to be the opening day starter in 2017.
  13. This is a "what's the point?" type of move.
  14. Byron Buxton gets 2 hits, including a double, and he doesn't even get mentioned at all? I think there should be a new rule that doesn't allow this to happen again.
  15. Walker hasn't hit better than .250 since Cedar Rapids in 2013, when he hit .278 with a career high .319 OBP. I doubt he approaches those numbers in the MLB.
  16. I think you're forgetting Ervin Santana. I like the thinking in your plan though- trade Plouffe and Dozier, insert Sano and Polanco.
  17. Speaking of Dick (and Bert), I like how they're getting annoyed by the mess that everyone is watching too. They usually would have given Dozier the benefit of the doubt on that pop fly that he dropped, but they didn't do that yesterday.
  18. I don't know about the rushing players to the big leagues. I know it's different for different players and different teams, but when the Twins bring guys up, they generally have underachieved. One guy I look at is Francisco Lindor. He was a great prospect, but he hit like .270-.280 every year in the minors, and now he's hitting .316 in almost a full season's worth of games. He would seem about as ready as Buxton should be, so...why can't we have nice things?
  19. I don't think you can even say that anymore at this point. Mauer got off to a decent start last year and was pretty bad after that. It looks like we may be seeing the same thing again this year.
  20. I was hoping Jorge Polanco's good play recently would get him playing time every day, especially with Nunez cooling off.
  21. I'd have to think he goes to the Celtics. It's too good of a fit for him to get past there.
  22. It didn't make a whole lot of sense at the time. He was on a great contract from the Twins perspective, with 2 more years left. Unnecessarily paying someone after a career year generally isn't that great of a move.
  23. I just keep envisioning Ellenson as the next great prototypical stretch-PF. He's got such a nice skillset already and with great size. Also, looking forward to the lottery tonight. If the Wolves get a top 2 pick, it's over. Either a high upside player, or some nice trade possibilities would be there.
  24. A poor man's Aaron Hicks, nice. I can't wait until he takes over as everyday left fielder.
