  1. The criticism is that Meyer wasn't really given a normal chance to show what he can do. He sat in the bullpen for a week, and then when he did get his "chance", he was prematurely pulled from his start.
  2. A large part of the article is saying that Berrios needs to throw more strikes so that his changeup can be more effective late in counts, and I've got no worries that Berrios will show more control as he continues on this season.
  3. I saw it last night. He was consistently at 95 and he hit 98. You can't ask for much more than that, and it's got some decent movement on it too.
  4. Well, 2.2 innings but yeah. 35 pitches or so to get through a couple more innings isn't a huge ask. Either way, I'd rather see Alex Meyer work to get out of it than have Tommy Milone come in to save the day.
  5. Maybe you're right, but he picked up 3 strikeouts on a good curveball tonight and he also got one on a changeup, and he throws 95. I'd like to see him continue to start in Rochester and get another chance starting when he comes back up.
  6. He's got a 3.40 ERA in the minors with over 10 K/9. Why not give him every chance to start until he proves he can't?
  7. A lost cause? Even after last year's disaster, Keith Law ranked Meyer as the #1 relief prospect in the minors.
  8. I don't think that's true. He got two outs while leaving a guy on third, and then got taken out after 64 pitches. He should've been given the chance to get out of that.
  9. It looks like Jaun Centeno is having a decent year so far. Maybe a swap with Murphy could be possible? There are some 40-man issues there though.
  10. He could've easily pitched 5 innings tonight if given the chance.
  11. Graham is probably just going to be on mop up duty for a few days until Ervin Santana comes back. And yeah, taking Meyer out after he just got two guys out in the 3rd inning with 60-some pitches... That makes little sense to me too.
  12. That was some pretty ridiculous game management tonight. Let Meyer get a chance to actually pitch.
  13. He had 8 hits in the 3 game sweep of the Angels.
  14. The White Sox just got way better. Today, they DFA'd the worst starter in the MLB, John Danks.
  15. No Oswaldo Arcia again? It's not like Eddie Rosario has played all that well defensively this year to justify him playing more than Arcia. It's good to see Trevor Plouffe back in the lineup though.
  16. The Astros strike out a ton, and the Twins have a strikeout pitcher on the mound (possibly the first time I've ever typed that). I'm expecting a strong start from Berrios.
  17. Eddie Rosario is second in the AL in swing and miss percentage at 20.1%. This isn't a surprise at all, but I just wanted to look it up because it seems like every AB for Rosario has at least one swing and miss in it.
  18. I'm wondering if it's ever going to correct itself, and how long it will take for the hitters to make adjustments. I just miss the days of knowing a sharp ground ball up the middle was for sure going to be a hit.
  19. You have to admit that shifting has risen exponentially in the last five years (obviously). The other things have been done forever. Also, I know that there was the occasional shift back in the day, but nothing like now.
  20. It's probably not ideal when the opening day closer, set up man, and 7th inning guy have the three worst rates on the team.
  21. When you put it like that, it makes me think of the hack-a-Shaq strategy, which I am totally fine with and oppose a new rule. I think I'll have to readjust my opinion on this whole shifting issue now.
  22. I've been in favor of this, but I'd have to say there's almost no way it happens. I hope it's just a cyclical thing, and players learn to hit all over the field better to adjust to the shift.
  23. That's definitely true. The one player performance that drags my overall view down though is Buxton's bad start. That, along with the poor offensive minor league production, combined with the Twins awful start is leading to a somewhat negative view on things.
  24. It has to be Polanco, doesn't it? This seems like an easy call.
  25. Just this year. For their careers, Carter is at 48.9% compared to Dozier at 42.5%.
