  1. A nice matchup of some sorry offenses here tonight. First team to 1 probably gets the W.
  2. If playing someone in the MLB instead of a little more time at AA/AAA ruins him, then that player was probably never going to be that good anyway.
  3. He also really struggles defensively, and I think he could be so much better if he went after defensive rebounds as hard as he goes after offensive rebounds. His scoring is nice off the bench, but his tunnel vision on offense can be hard to watch.
  4. You're probably right on the defense of the player being more important. The Rubio/Gasol playing together angle would be fun to watch though, and it just looks good on paper. Adding Gasol sounds good, but it would probably continue the defensive struggles, especially on mobile 4's, so that might not be the best target.
  5. I don't think Izzo would leave, especially with the best recruiting class he's ever had coming in this year, and I don't really like hiring college coaches anyway, as that generally hasn't worked out too well in the past. With the Wolves job being the top open position this offseason, I think all of the top candidates will be interested, so I don't see the need to go after college coaches.
  6. I'd be good with that strategy. Gasol and KAT, with Belly and Dieng is a good frontcourt. I'd like to add a bigger wing though too. Someone who's an upgrade over Tayshaun Prince (I wouldn't mind keeping Prince in the mentor/14th man role). I think a Bazz trade would be a good idea to either get that type of player or to open up playing time there.
  7. Well doesn't one of Rosario, Park, Kepler, or Buxton need to be sent down so they can play every day?
  8. So apparently the Twins just signed David Murphy to a minor league deal. Going to Rochester.
  9. Dozier Rosario Mauer- DH Plouffe Sano Escobar Park Murphy Buxton Rosario back to the 2 spot...
  10. Just saw on Tim Kurkjian's "Quirkjians" that Eddie Rosario has the highest active streak of plate appearances without getting hit by a pitch among position players, at 498. I think I just solved Eddie's OBP problem.
  11. I didn't think Kepler would get his shot until tomorrow against Mat Latos. That's a great fielding outfield, and maybe that's a little bit more important with Phil Hughes pitching.
  12. Jake Reed has put up Casey Fien numbers so far. I don't think he's higher in line than Chargois right now.
  13. So Danny Santana is the CFer in this prediction? I think more likely would be Kepler taking over there.
  14. I think only Mauer could match the professionalism at the plate that Kepler showed in his lone AB. Kepler takes walks and he doesn't strikeout. That's exactly what this team needs more of, so I really hope he gets some consistent playing time while he's up.
  15. That short fly ball with Mauer on third was pretty impressive... I was so expecting another K right there.
  16. Mid-season, about 99% of fans thought Mitchell needed to go. Now that's dropped quite a bit with the improvement that both the players and Mitchell have shown since the all star break. Most still would prefer to go outside the organization, but keeping Mitchell is no longer the #1 fear for Wolves fans. I want the instant credibility that Tom Thibodeau would give the team, plus this team still needs to learn how to play defense at a high level, which Tibs is known for (along with running his starters into the ground, but still).
  17. 7 out of the 9 starters ended today's game with a BA in the .100's. Law of Averages says this team is about to go off. I hope that's how it works anyways.
  18. I'd say a combination of both (not a very good answer). The problem today was fouling off meatballs. Late in the game, Sano and I think Dozier too had a center cut fastball with a man on that was fouled straight back. When teams are going well, those pitches are hit hard.
  19. Highly unlikely that they win tomorrow. Another lefty in Rodon on Wednesday, so that's good, but he's got some big time swing and miss stuff (as if that matters to Twins hitters).
  20. Whether they labeled it a rebuild or not, that's what it ended up being. Perkins is the only real veteran asset that was a trade option, and he wasn't going to get a huge return anyway. I think it's ok to "try" to win while still rebuilding mostly through the draft. The rest of what you mentioned is just a really negative way to look at things.
  21. The only ones I'd question there are Dozier and Santana, even though those two are the only ones who would bring much value back. I'm not sure if the rebuild comment is a joke, but that's already happened. This is the growing pains of a young lineup. Also, if the Twins needed to rebuild, and that list is all that they had to offer as trade chips to build up their pipeline, then they'd be in big trouble.
  22. I'm pretty intrigued by Bender too. The Wolves would probably have to get up in the top 3 to get him though. I think it seems like a pretty solidified top 3 of Simmons, Ingram, and Bender right now.
  23. They probably don't want a young player to come in and break up the rhythm that the offense currently has...
  24. J.T. Chargois is at 27 K/9 this year. I think it's time.
  25. I agree with this. And 0-6 is worse than 0-5.
