  1. Don't know if any of you are into disc golf, but there is a major tournament in Minnesota today, the Majestic. Oddly enough, the man currently occupying last place, at +24, is Thomas Malone. Close enough for me, although I'm a fan of Tommy Milone.
  2. Eduardo is having a nice day in SF, his first start(at short). Single and stolen base, and 2 run double. He was certainly our most competent hitter and base runner this season.
  3. Came across this lad looking over the Midwest League leaders. 3rd in BA at .327, ops over 800, 19 years old in low A ball. Pretty impressive. He's never failed to his over .300 at each stop on his way in the minors, career .325 hitter with an ops over .800. Under the radar he has flown for me, but hard to ignore that level of performance. You mighta picked a real sleeper there Goulik.
  4. If Little Papi could have half the career of Big Papi, I'd be satisfied.
  5. Del Rosario's ERA has been trending in the right direction, from over 11 after 1 start, to over 6 through most of June, now down to 4.61 after this start. Also, of his 45 Ks this season, 24 have come in his last 3 starts. According to MiLB, he weighs 145 pounds?! 6 feet tall.
  6. Competent doesn't mean great - he has improved greatly over the years. He'll never be a gold glove candidate, but many gold glove winners started out as bad or worse the TP.
  7. Play them at the positions of need: Sano at 3rd, Polanco at short. How long did it take Plouffe to become a competent fielder? Over the course of a season we might have something.
  8. Nice to see folks are daring to dream big now that the Twins made a deal This whole convo reminds me why Ramos for Capps was my all time most hated trade in Twins history.
  9. The Part of me that actually watches Twins games will miss Eduardo. Fun guy to watch. I'm glad he's going to a great team with a great ballpark in a great city. The part of me that visits Twins Daily is very happy with the trade though, and is hoping for more.
  10. I guess i never got Bruno as a hitting coach. Maybe there's a history of great hitting coaches that weren't great hitters themselves, and I could totally see that. On the good, there were 271 dingers: but Bruno was a career .245 batter with 1187 Ks, 19% of his at bats.. Don't our Twins resemble that a bit too much for comfort?
  11. If you were the GM of another team, would you trade for Nolasco? Malone? Suzuki? These guys are trying to make their teams better, not worse.
  12. Watching what the Twins have done in July vs. Boston, Cleveland, Texas, Detroit leads me to believe they have some game. They aren't gonna tank intentionally. Growing pains are the best way to go about this - give your youth a chance to play, let them learn at the major league level. They hopefully improve, and set the stage for future winning ways, but quite possibly deliver the coveted top 5 draft pick along the way. Win-win, with a lot of losses along the way edit: I will acknowledge tho, that the oposition, some of the best in the AL, probably isn't really taking the Twins seriously, if quotes in the media are to be believed.
  13. Kirilloff looks like a kid that will be on the fast track. Seeing that power is his calling card, love to see the high batting average on top of that.
  14. two of your more awesome names in the organization....I'm torn.
  15. like Oswaldo, but recognize the flaws in his game. He may end up as good as a Valencia, good ML ball player, but not a future HOF dude like Papi. Ortiz is well and truly the one that got away, much like Ruth was to the Red Sox: love the symmetry of that story.
  16. Let's not forget the Saints. The St, Paul baseball experience is on a par with that of the Twins, if not better in some ways. Their crowds are about 1/3 of what MN United expects, but far more often. I plan to go to once to each park this season, and am likely not alone.
  17. Right on Doc - I would like to see what Vargas could do given the chance. He has great power, and while he has some of that K problem, it's nowhere near as bad as some of our other power prospects, and he has shown the ability to take a walk as well. He has a pretty good approach, and the switch hitting is a nice add.
  18. Seems like batting second would make good use of his OBP, and perhaps advancing runners. Problem is, nobody really is hitting like a #3 right now except Nunez, and he's leading off.
  19. They should eat the bad salaries - there are so many tax loopholes out there, I'm sure they could find a way to write it off. Give the new GM a clean slate, manager aside.
  20. Molly, really? 11 for 19? Nunez is 22 for 27. Buxton is 7 for 7. Fail to see what makes him best there.
  21. Hmm. Sounds more administrative than baseball related, like a directive from someone who is looking for system-wide accountability.
  22. Wow, when is the last time the Twins didn't have an OF in their top 10?
  23. If true, the Twins better rethink the whole "pitch to contact" philosophy. That aside, I would think more reps would make you better at something, not worse.
  24. KG was a bit undone by his D in the sixth there. Such is the elemant of chance in the game of baseball. The stats say otherwise, but I liked what I saw from our starter today.
