  1. There are days off, DH duties and such that can let a player recoup. Twins bench will be good this season. Plus, swinging a bat a dozen times a day ain't exactly debilitating to a strongman in his early 20s. Rotate the squad, and he''ll be just fine for now.
  2. Those were thoughtful comments by David. Time will tell.
  3. Eduardo Escobar provides solid defense, .750 ops., and continues to fly under the radar until the Twins extend him through his first year of free-agency eligibility for 3 years/16million.
  4. When players are assigned to Minor League Camp, are the cut off from the Major League coaches?
  5. Seems like a buttload of rubbish everytime I read it, yet it is posted as gospel. What gives? Are these pro scouts, or pro bloggers?
  6. My very thought - like Dozier, but I believe he has peaked. It would be a classic trade high scenario.
  7. Find it hard to believe anybody who has been a Twins fan would actually believe spending money on free agents was the key to success. This organization has always lived and died by the quality of its homegrown talent. Looking at the system, it looks like the Twins are on the upswing. When they spend money, it is quite often a fail. Development, and a nice trade thrown in, that has been the Twins way. The difference with Target Field was supposed to be keeping our stars, not poaching other those of other teams.
  8. It all depends on how good Buxton, Gordon, Stewart, and Jay end up being, being the premium draft product of the 4 year tank.
  9. I think this one and next years will be the spring trainings where the benefits of a loaded farm system will render signing Bartletts, Quentins, and Abads obsolete. I'm a believer in this current batch of top prospects. I'm also a believer that our minor league coaches are doing a great job of developing them as well. If this could become a smooth running machine, look out. I know 29 other teams are hoping for the same thing, but prospect depth doesn't happen in a day, right White Sox?
  10. One of the most fun reads I've enjoyed in a while - very nice job of tracking down the loose ends Nick. Just hats off stuff!
  11. I lived in Arizona for some years, and spring training was fun, but never that much, because it wasn't the Twins. Hope to find the time to enjoy Fort Myers some year, it sounds really fantastic when you care about the team.
  12. That article is crap, as is most of what comes out of Big League Stew.
  13. I'd trust Vegas odds as much as this. I also saw Bill James has the Twins last in the division this season. Fools, all!
  14. Never realized he had risen all the way to the WHL - pretty tough for a Canadian kid to walk away from that. Makes me like Patrick Roy a little better. One of my top 5 all-time Twins is Justin Morneau.
  15. Every time I've watched Walker video, he does anything but overswing. He has a nice easy swing that produces amazing power. Strike zone recognition is his problem, not overswinging imo.
  16. Put me in the tiny minority here, but I am not worried about the bullpen...at all. They return a nice late inning combo, and more good arms than can fit in the rotation. Trust the youth, and this will be a team strength I believe.
  17. I'm not surprised - I know he wears glasses off the field, and suspected there was something off with his eyesight. I hope he can correct this as a Twins fan, and as Gunnathor mentioned, enjoy a healthy rest of his life.
  18. For me, Molitor had an intellectual edge that Gardy was lacking. Gardy was all emo. Molitor all the way.
  19. Who knows, maybe Nolasco will pitch well if he's healthy. Although, looking over his career numbers, I'm amazed the Twins gave him the deal they did. Pitching "well" here would likely be around 150 IP with an ERA around 4.5 and more hits than innings pitched. Pelfreyish.
  20. Fun read - it's never too early to start talking draft IMO, so thanks.
  21. What was Bert's 3rd pitch, just out of curiousity. His arm sure held up for all the curves he threw.
  22. Not concerned a bit - 22-23 year olds are very athletic, flexible, strong, (add attribute here). Sano is built like a football linebacker, and they run into stuff all the time and are no worse for wear. He profiles as an elite RF to me, with his arm and athleticism.
  23. Shaggwaaa - must be a cajun pronounciation. Seems like a good bloke.
  24. They should put Tommy John in the HoF not for his pitching, but for the surgical procedure that bears his name.
  25. He ain't THAT old - he's a year older than Mauer. We've seen Thome and Hunter at Target Field: that's old.
