    Indoor baseball: if I'm going to watch a game inside, I'd rather it were on television(at least the game I'm watching might be outside). The sounds(echo), smells(cleaning fluid), are sights(pure artificial light) are all off in a dome. There was nothing worse than going to an afternoon game at the Dome when it was 70 outside with a blue sky and puffy white clouds. Painful.

    Austin has had a decent start with SF: batting 2nd in the lineup, 2 for 5 with a 2 walks and 2 Ks over 2 games. Belt actually played in LF last night, so TA may be getting a lot of at bats this season.

    No better time to DFA someone and try to slip them to the minors than after a performance like DeJong put on last night.

    13 more than our friend Bert Blyleven. That 68 MVP, CYA season: 1.12 ERA, 12 shutouts, 304 IP. Still managed to lose 9 games somehow, along with 22 wins. I always liked the Dusty Baker quote that Gibson would throw at his own mother if she dug in on him.

    Too bad for TA the Giants have an entrenched 1B and fewer opportunities at DH. There is some platoon opportunity though. Wouldn't be surprised if Austin hit more homers than Belt in fewer at bats. (He actually did last year).

    Just saw today that Hunter Greene is gonna have TJ surgery. I remember really wishing the Twins would take him. Hope he has a good recovery. I remember from what I read that he is a good guy.

    Just like the rest of us. I think Rocco likes putting him in the lineup as well. BTW, Castro has the fewest ABs so far this season for non-pitchers with 7, 3 fewer than Garver, and 7 fewer than Astudillo.

    As the off-season is over, thought we might have this thread back for non-Twins, non-thread worthy news and tidbits. Watching The White Sox blow a 3-1 8th inning lead to Cleveland. 5-3 now, the last 2 Cleveland runs coming off bases loaded walks. Hard to decide who to root against in this matchup.

    Not to mention 162 saves! On the negative side, Rosario on pace to strike out 324 times and leave 324 men on base.

    I loved the way Rocco handled the bullpen - after Berrios gives up the hit, he waits for them to make the PH move, then brings in the lefty , and lets him close it out over 1 and 1/3 innings. Very efficient. Little economies like that go a long way over 162 games and a pitching staff of 12. I wouldn't mind seeing the Twins have several guys with 10 or more saves this season. Parker, Mays, and Rogers are all capable.

    Here is my take: the Twins have a lot of guys they have invested in, besides Romero. Stewart, Gonsalves, Mejia, plus others mentioned in this thread. Give them a shot. Good bullpen guys happen that way - who ever thought Ryan Pressly or Taylor Rogers were top notch until given the chance?

    Wade has had a good spring. Very reliable depth imo.

    I find it somewhat ironic people are rah-rahing this deal a day or two after lamenting the plight of underpaid minor-leaguers. Given the numbers posted in that thread, Trout makes as much per year as 3181 minor leaguers, so just about all of them

    Oh, I'm on their side, and the side of all underpaid people, given what their employers are making. It is one thing to underpaid pursuing a dream though, and another to be underpaid out of necessity.

    I would rather see the Twins go full "lumber company" and keep Austin instead of Ehire. This guy has big time power. As a bench bat or sub, that appeals to me more than glove. With Marwin in the fold, and perhaps Tortuga, go all in on offense is a good play for this team.

    My son joined the Minnesota Conservation Corps after a couple years of college - he earned less, and did meaningful work in Minnesota public lands. Looks good on his resume, but I imaging pro ball player probably screams out in a pile of resumes. Don't get me wrong - I would like to see everybody earn a meaningful wage. However, there are many who toil with no prestige whatsoever who do as poorly, and do harder, crappier jobs.

    Minnesota United is all e-tix you present on your phone, at least that was what I was told when I bought some online. They use SeatGeek. I've done phone tix thru Ticketmaster to see the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, and I have to say it is pretty slick.
