  1. That's funny. Maybe they think if you finish 2nd in your division you automatically get a playoff spot? That's the only way I could see it make sense.
  2. Luplow, Stevenson, Gordon, and De Leon are basically guarantees to be DFA'd. Ortega is a near lock, as he can likely be retained on a MILB deal. Henriquez had a really bad year and can probably be snuck through waivers. Moran is also not good and Funderburk seems to have passed him up on the lefty reliever foodchain, so he's a pretty easy DFA too. Sands and Winder were disappointing but they should both get another year. Alcala is in a weird spot as he's so rarely been healthy, but he's still got 3 options so I think he sticks. Balazovic should get another crack at it too, though having no options left is a problem.
  3. Mullens is actually a decent backup who can win you a game every once in a while and has some mobility, while Mannion is a QB coach who is still playing and has never actually been good at playing QB. Not even in preseason games. It looks like Hall will be the backup until Mullens is back, so I don't think we'll have to worry about Mannion.
  4. Is it really any surprise that the lineup that set the all-time record for strikeouts in a season scuffled in the playoffs? There isn't a "stop striking out" button for Rocco to press.
  5. I can’t say I love the pitching plan, but it’s moot if the offense can’t score any runs. I think we need to find a better top lefty for the pen next year. Thielbar is getting pretty long in the tooth.
  6. Julien really is our Arraez replacement.
  7. Wow. Maeda and Ober are shells of their former (first half of the year) selves. So many meatballs thrown among our starting pitchers.
  8. Surprised they aren't saving Maeda for tomorrow. I guess Paddack is the backup to Ryan? He's been hot-and-cold this year, he's been great when hot. Unfortunately he is not right now.
  9. It's pretty telling that our team leader has 66 RBIs... and only two players have more than 60. Lewis is on pace for 110+ if he had as many PAs as Correa, though.
  10. We needed first half Ober and Maeda pitching, and got the second half versions. This game might have gone different if they were hot.
  11. I look forward to when pitch calls can be challenged. It works well in the minors, it's time for it to be implemented in the majors.
  12. Twins are pitching their pants off with runners on base... offense needs to score more insurance runs. Can't expect them to stay perfect.
  13. Honestly, pitch count isn't a big concern - he's not going more than 5 innings anyways.
  14. Wow, I didn't think the Rays would get stomped like this. Rangers vs Orioles it is!
  15. Just gotta get a good outing from Duran and the streak is broken... I still don't know if I believe!
  16. I guess since he made that brutal error in the 2020 playoff game vs the Astros?
  17. Oh boy, putting Polanco at 3B is already beginning to cost them...
  18. Ober probably would have made it over him if Kuechel were healthy.
  19. They got 11 sacks total, 4 players had 2+ sacks each. Ridicluous!
  20. 100% defensive win, they gave up 6 points and scored 7 themselves. The gameplan worked because Bryce Young couldn't handle pressure and held on to the ball too long, but it's not going to work against any of the good offenses. Awful game from the offense, only 14 points against a middling defense. So much for the predictions about them being a top 10/5 unit, they are barely scoring 22 points a game. And even with the run game functioning well a second straight week, they just can't score points. Pickett might have wrecked his knee today, so depending on that Kirk could be in play there. I expect the Wilfs interfere, however.
  21. Celestino was highly likely to be removed once the season was over, so It’s not a big deal DFA’ing him now. Ironically it’s to get Alcala, the other half of the Pressly trade, onto the roster.
  22. Nope, there's no way they are giving up on Pickett this early into Year 2. They're the last franchise to make a huge shift at QB on a whim. Yup, that has been infuriating. O'Connell was livid with Kirk after that one 3rd and 3 where he threw it deep and missed, and it looked like Osborn was open for a 4-5 yard gain.
  23. I legitimately thought the Vikings were winning this one up until the play at 0:35 when Kirk didn't realize he had to spike the ball. I expected a chaotic back-and-forth game that would end with the Vikings winning by one score, and they certainly should have. The defense is bad but Flores doesn't have the players needed to run his scheme effectively. The offense has no excuses, they were playing a bottom 5 defense that suffered multiple more injuries and they had two golden opportunities and squandered them. I am no longer considering O'Connell an above average coach, getting beat by a poorly coached Staley team was an embarrassment. It's starting to look like 2022 had a lot more luck than involved rather than I thought it did.
  24. Floro and Gallo should go first. After that, I'd guess Celestino is on the chopping block as I doubt he will be on the 40 man this winter. Though they may only need 2 spots as I don't know if Alcala is going to return to the major league team.
