  1. I'm not watching the game, just assuming he made a good enough throw to get the runner. He's been pretty darn good at catching runners this year IIRC.
  2. Well, that one went from scary with no outs to game over in 3 pitches. Winner winner chicken dinner!
  3. Also, Winder has been activated off the 60 day IL and optioned back to AAA. There was one 40 man spot open and he fills that.
  4. Matt Bowman is getting DFA’d by Arizona, the Twins could get him back if they wish. My guess is they won’t put in a claim.
  5. I came here to say the same thing. I guess they're only capable of winning or losing in bunches!
  6. I agree, Canterino is the next Nick Burdi and they might get a couple stints of him as a reliever before his arm falls off, but that's not what you'd consider a top 20 prospect. Severino becoming a 1B/DH after being a questionable 3B hurts alongside a bad start to the year. Always seems like these power-only prospects never pan out. The 35 HRs in 2023 was fun but I don't think he is a major league player. I put SWR, Winkour, and Keaschall all over Martin. I just don't see it. He's never hit that well in the minors (career .258 hitter), has no power, and the huge problem of having no defensive home. Maybe he can hold up at 2B but he is certainly not a SS and a butcher in the outfield. He hit .683 OPS in his second trip at AA... and that was with a .367 OPS. He's good at talking walks and stealing bases but that's it. Maybe there is a Lamonte Wade-like turnaround where he become a quality hitter whose strength is drawing walks. But even he hit .293 in his first trip at AA and .298 in his repeat appearance. I dunno, I can't call Martin a top 10 prospect when his ceiling looks to be as a utility player. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jenkins and Lee can do now that they are on track to play again. Please, no more injuries!

  8. Another reason why fully guaranteed contracts are a bad thing, he wouldn't be starting if he weren't being paid a guaranteed amount.
  9. Were they for the Twins? Colome and Robles both had WHIP of about 1.4 with us, and both of their careers were over pretty quickly after that. Colome may have been overhated based upon his blown saves but his numbers are still not good. I thought Robles pitched better than he did but the walks were bad with him. Charlie Barnes is the only one I can think of, but he was a starter.
  10. I am knocking them for failing to get results from these "slugger" type hitters, but I don't blame them for giving up on Rooker when they did. Waiting for a prospect to break out at age 28 / year 7 in our system isn't a logical way to run things.
  11. I have a hard time blaming the Twins for giving up on Rooker, he was already 27 and proved them right by spending most of that year in AAA and doing nothing for the Royals. It's better to save those roster spots and plate appearances for younger hitters, and you can't count on these guys being late bloomers. Kudos to Rooker and the A's, but I put none of this on the Twins. It's a less ridiculous version of blaming the Twins for not unlocking Liam Hendriks. It is unfortunate the the Twins strategy of spending 1st rounders on sluggers and didn't get the main return on Rooker, Larnach has been all over the place, Wallner is back into limbo after a great 2023, and Sabato is unlikely to be a major league player.
  12. Cleveland legitimately manufactured a run for us to blow that save... HBP + 2 errors is the only way this team was tying the game against Clase! What a waste of a great start from Paddack. He has surpassed my expectations so far this year.
  13. 0.40 ERA in 22 innings, wow. Wouldn't have guessed that. I see former Twin Derek Law is also there with the most innings pitched for them, though his WHIP is questionable.
  14. This team has some wild mood swings, sometimes piping hot and ice cold. They played the same for most of last year and got hot late, so I guess we better hope they get hot late again. I don't get what the fascination with Jay Jackson is. Most innings pitched in the bullpen despite having an ERA over 6. Time to get Alcala back up and DFA Jackson.
  15. So much for Funderburk’s crazy good start to his career… Feels like last year’s team before August. Bouncing between winning streaks where they look legit and losing streaks where they look like a bottom 5 team.
  16. I saw the zones, yup. The ump did a horrid job - and while I am one not to lean on the whole "they lost the game because of the ump", today is an exception. The Castro and Correa strikeouts alongside those missed calls were brutal.
  17. Welp, Duran faced the top of the order and flopped. At least that runner got caught stealing so it's not a 2 run deficit, but now we gotta get a run on Clase...
  18. Farmer and Margot pinch-hit for better hitters and both got on base... Rocco wins this time around.
  19. I'm shocked we saw Okert and Jackson go back-to-back without giving up runs.
  20. Fun fact: Caleb Thielbar is the highest paid reliever on the team...
  21. It has always frustrated me why outfielders are never charged with errors when they are obviously errors.
  22. It's twice. W12 game vs Chicago is on Monday Night. Yeah, 6 of the first 8 opponents were in the playoffs last year. Not ideal!
  23. I'd be more on board with workload management if it actually reduced injuries... over the past few years with this roster, it hasn't.
