  1. Steer is a legit MLB hitter, he's hitting .810 OPS in his last 800 PAs. He may not be a great fielder, but he would be starting for the Twins if he were still here.
  2. I always wondered why the Twins didn't give Ian Hamilton a shot when we stashed him in AAA for about 2 years... and now he's doing quite well for the Yankees. Hmmm.
  3. If only Martin would have spent some time focusing on playing outfield, where it was obvious he would wind up playing in the majors... instead, only 81 games in the minors played in the outfield compared to about 160 in the infield. And it was obvious from the scouting report when we acquired him.
  4. Kinda funny how a year ago Ober couldn't fit into the rotation for awhile despite the fact we knew he could hang in the majors. His career numbers in the majors are really strong, sub 1.1 WHIP and 3.76 ERA before this game. He is a quality starter through and through. I was surprised they didn't call up a reliever from AAA before the game, whether it be Boushley or Henriquez in case they needed a long man. Jackson can be DFA'd and Sands is regressing back into who we thought he was.
  5. It would be nice to see him in the bullpen again, if he can pick up where he left off last year. Might be needed with some relievers flaming out.
  6. That should do it! Glad Jeffers was the PH option this time around and Kepler has been killing it since coming back from the injury. Now Duran gets a 3 run lead to work with.
  7. Paddack is having a very Odorizzi-esque start - getting strikeouts and preventing runs, but throwing way too many pitches to do so.
  8. Polanco has been pretty brutal for the Mariners so far... especially hitting in the #3 spot.
  9. It was an uninspiring acquisition when it was announced but I assumed he was the MAT replacement, a guy who would be Buxton's CF backup and provide value with his fielding because it was apparent based on his track record, his bat was going to be disappointing... and now we see he can't manage CF and his defensive metrics are quite bad in the corners. Yuck. Unfortunately, whenever this front office makes a blunder with a player like this they are usually given far too much rope and I don't see them giving up on Margot any time soon.
  10. They have the 6th lowest ERA as a unit, 7th lowest in WHIP. This is only the 5th time this year a reliever has earned a loss. It is one of the better pens in baseball, but I would not call it the best.
  11. Seems like a win for both teams on paper. It is notable that Salas' stock as a prospect has dropped off after his acqusition and he still isn't doing much better in his second year at Cedar Rapids. He's still young, but his value has fallen quite a bit. Chourio is only 19 and just starting out at Fort Myers, so not much to say there yet.
  12. That was a fast one, only 7 hits between the two teams. SWR with another quality start, the bullpen holds, and the offense does just enough. I don't think Thielbar is washed up just yet. Seems like they're doing some experimenting with the bullpen, can't complain since they have been one of the best units in baseball despite the multiple injuries.
  13. Can't win 'em all! If we only have a clunker game like this once every 13 games, I can live with that. Seems like Jay Jackson is in the long reliever role, but I haven't been impressed with him so far. His actual numbers are better than what it has seemed for him. Interested to see how we fare against the Mariners, of whom is in first place surprisingly. Will the momentum from the winning streak peter out or will the winning continue?
  14. I had Sands making the team as a long reliever a month and a half ago... and now he is closing a close game in the 9th inning. Crazy turnaround for him!
  15. Arraez is a free agent at the end of 2025.
  16. Seemed like he started out slow last year too - he had a 4.00 ERA at this time in 2023, not too far off from his current 4.38.
  17. This is where I'm at. They've had some good offseasons mixed in with some bad ones, and have had some great trades mixed in with some dumpster fire ones. It's a mixed bag. The starting pitching pipeline never materialized, but recently they've figured out how to get the most out of their bullpen arms. They've always got hitting prospects up and coming. Hopefully we will start to see an influx of international players as we've had a drought of them over the past 10+ years. Still only one playoff series win since they got the job in 2017 despite being in a garbage division... but the front office is certainly not bad. They can build a playoff contender but I'm pretty doubtful about them building a World Series contender.
  18. Took me a second to figure this out, but it happened yesterday - Boushley went down.
  19. I figured Miranda's 2021-22 play wasn't just a mirage. There's still a ways to go and plenty of downs and ups coming down the road for him, but it's nice to see his career is back on track. Still pretty shaky about his fielding abilities but when he is hot he can be the everyday DH.
  20. Thielbar doesn't have any pitches in the bullpen tracker. Speaking of which, last I read the bullpen is 3rd in ERA and getting Duran and Topa back this week... this is a really good unit. Legitimate depth too with having to keep Alcala in AAA. A great problem to have!
  21. Hicks DFA’d, last game as an Angel came against us.
  22. Lopez seems to have a habit of starting the season out slowly and then pitching better as we get into the summer. I don't mind that if we can get that same version of him in September/October.
  23. He's the team's highest paid reliever, he's not going anywhere yet. We haven't seen a large enough sample size from him this year either.
  24. Weird to see Sands has a 0.71 ERA. That's why you move failed starters to the bullpen, it works wonders sometimes. Even if it isn't sustainable, it's better than being stuck as an AAAA starter.
