  1. Gasper is also a AAA player, but his ability to play multiple positions is a factor over Severino. Not that he's good at any of those positions, mind you.
  2. I've been crunching some draft betting odds, here is a response to some of the points you guys have brought up: 3 RBs going in the 1st round: 40% chance (Jeanty 99%, Hampton 94%, Henderson 43%, Judkins 3%) Jaxson Dart going in the 1st round: 85% - I was initially believing that this was smoke but even the sources I trust are reporting that he's going in the 1st. I wouldn't even touch him in the 2nd round but teams be dumb! Tyler Shough going in 1st round: 10% The Shedeur Sanders numbers are conflicting. He's currently the favorite to go #9 but there is a lot of steam on him falling. If the Steelers don't take him at #21 I think he makes it to the 30s. For me, the difference is that Willis was being mocked that whole offseason in the 1st round and it was a major shock that he fell to Round 3 as I had seen very few suggest that teams didn't like him. Dart and Shough going Round 1 is more reminiscent of the annual mid-round QBs getting hyped out of nowhere. Hendon Hooker, Desmond Ridder, Drew Lock are recent examples. A Day 3 TE makes more sense, I think it is more likely than not they extend Josh Oliver and it's going to be >= $9M per year.
  3. This seems like a no-brainer move, Bride hit .818 OPS last year but has been off to a horrid start to begin 2025. Of course, he can't be that good if the Marlins are DFA'ing him but I will take him over our mediocre vets in AAA.
  4. They better not send him back down once Lopez is ready. Paddack has to be the odd one out.
  5. Jorge Lopez immediately turning into a pumpkin alongside Yennier Cano being cured of "Twinsitis" gives that trade a run for its money. Oh, and the Orioles have Cade Povich in their starting rotation now as part of that trade. Yikes.
  6. We need to have a retrospective on how badly we whiffed on that trade. There was a lot of defending of the trade right after Pressly immediately morphed into a high end closer and all we ended up with was an inconsistent reliever and an AAAA outfielder.
  7. The Twins are going to need to do what other teams do - develop hitters in the minors. How many bats has this front office developed into quality or even slightly above replacement level players? And how many have been average defensively? Or even a tick below average? Or even a passable utility bench player? Heck, when is the last time this team developed an international kid from scratch? Feels like it has been since the days of Sano/Kepler/Polanco that we've had any sort of infusion of talent from that portion of the farm. Since that trio, only Arraez has gone on to be anything decent. The likes of Wander Javier and Misael Urbina have flopped, and no notable guy they've acquired from other means (Celestino) have panned out. And for the talk of the emphasis on slugging and hitting home runs, the lineup isn't even that great at that. The only guys to have quality slugging numbers last year (that were developed) were Buxton, Wallner, and Lewis. Larnach and Miranda's power hasn't developed as hoped, and the likes of Kirilloff and Sabato failed. Even if the ball hadn't been deadened, their bat-first players aren't even that good of sluggers. Sure, the next crop of hitters might be the next big thing, but so was the last crop.
  8. FYI, coming into this game Wallner had a .388 OBP and the next closest is .320 OBP. Whomever you're putting in the #1 spot is getting on base significantly less than Wallner is.
  9. Our last 3 relievers have allowed 9 baserunners... oh wait, it's 10 with the error added. Woof!
  10. I can see him getting sacked near the end of the season, but I don't see him getting canned in the first half of the year. I could be wrong. It's the reason why he still has the job, and yes it's a poor justification but I'm stating what I think is the truth. If it wasn't good enough for Falvey we'd have a different manager.
  11. The incompetence of this organization, first and foremost. He's Falvey's guy.
  12. I was typing up a similar response. This franchise has always been slow to fire coaches/GMs, Rocco is Falvey's guy and Falvey is alone atop the power structure of this organization.
  13. Feels like this defense is good for 2 errors per game. There was an article this offseason titled "This infield might be a disaster" and they were 100% correct. With the pitching they have, I could see it. The hitters will regress to the mean to a degree, there's no way some of these guys continue to hit as poorly as they are.
  14. With better pitching and much worse hitting...
  15. They're bench players who are sitting more often than not, which is not what we want Martin and Keaschall doing, they should be playing every day either in the majors or AAA. I imagine they will be up sooner than later due to injuries / eventual demotions. Wade was a borderline outfielder who they should have been patient with in hindsight, but nobody saw him as a MLB-starting player which is why he was only traded for a lousy reliever. Luis Gil was a lottery ticket who took 6 years to become a legitimate starting pitcher in the majors, and Cave did provide positive value for the first couple years of that move. Teams trade 19 year old lottery tickets like him all the time, it's a crapshoot whether they pan out. Now if you want to delve into the Tyler Mahle and Jorge Lopez trades, you'll have much more of a case against Falvey. They missed on Wade Jr but heck, I would do the Cave-Gil trade again right now if it means we get a 1.5 WAR OF for a couple years in exchange for a longshot guy like Gil who might be good in 2031.
  16. We're on our 4th hitting coach of the Falvey regime, you have to wonder if it's more about the talent than the coaching. Many of us gave acclaim to Rowson (the first hitting coach), but if you compare the players there's no questions we were fielding better lineups in 2019 compared to now.
  17. Why is Wallner trying to steal a base when we're down 4 runs and only have 5 outs to give?
  18. He had one atrocious PA in the game today that looked straight out of 2024... he's consistently taking strikes that he should be swinging at. I wonder if he's having a harder time identifying pitches than how he was in 2023.
  19. 3 of the past 4 years have been big disappointments in my book. The franchise feels like it is stuck in neutral. I took a look at the 2024 numbers and yes, Duran is way better in the 9th inning. However, he only pitched 12 innings in the 8th so it was a small sample size, though I thought it was more than that. Conversely, Jax's 'worst' inning was the 8th (39.2 IP) with a 2.27 ERA and .549 OPS against and he was somehow better in the 9th (13.2 IP) with .421 OPS against. Also a small sample size there. So yes, Duran should be pitching the 9th but there is no reason to expect Jax to suck in the 9th. Especially after Spring Training where Jax looked great and Duran had command issues.
  20. Jax is supposed to be the cornerstone of the "best bullpen in baseball", what gives? The sooner Paddack is done starting games, the better. Why not tap into that pitching pipeline I've heard so much about? Festa was arguably the better pitcher last year as a rookie.
  21. MLB Gameday and Yahoo sports claim that Duran is pitching... I am confused.
  22. I think we can officially say that we've gotten some positive value out of the Polanco trade... it took long enough!
  23. They seem fortunate to get out of that inning only down 1. Time to score some runs with the first two batters on base here. Methinks McCaughan is going to be needed for more innings today...
