  1. Seahawks are better in all 3 phases of the game than the 49ers, all those injuries have finally added up for San Fran. Really no surprise that their defense can't hold up with almost zero talent left.
  2. I thought Cooks had the catch and that DPI call was bogus... I feel for Bills fans.
  3. Methinks at minimum Caratini is getting half the starts at catcher no matter what else happens. I don't see Jeffers getting a bigger role and Caratini having to play elsewhere, they already have enough fringe DH/1B types on the team and Caratini's value is at catcher.
  4. This regime has been very reluctant to have rookie hitters on the Opening Day roster, I don't expect any will this year either. As for pitchers, at this point a couple have to make the team, I would put Prielipp as the favorite. I would like to see him, Raya, and Klein get some appearances in the pen at AAA to build up their relieving experience. All of them were quite bad at AAA last year, obviously small sample sizes with Prielipp and Klein.
  5. You're comparing apples and oranges because Jeffers' number is an arbitration agreement, not FA money like Caratini (methinks Jeffers would get somewhere around $10M per year?). The past two years, Jeffers has caught 81 and then 80 games with Vazquez or the other lot filling in the other games which nearly comes out to 50%. If Jeffers isn't traded, then I would expect another 50-50 split.
  6. Somebody needs to tell the Pohlads to check their spam folder, Falvey's email might have ended up there.
  7. I don't defend Falvey much, but the mandate to shrink payroll forced his hand to move Correa. Carlos wasn't having a great year but the deal wasn't "so bad" of a value else the Astros wouldn't have taken him. Yup, player development been the big issue compared to the one year deals / DFA claims / and even moves like the Correa one. They desperately need talent to continuously come up because moves like signing Cruz, Donaldson, and Correa are a thing of the past.
  8. Unlike the Raiders, the Giants have quite a bit of talent that can be tapped into - hire the right coordinators and get some better injury luck, and I can see them being competitive. The Raiders roster is so bad, they have maybe 3 above average players on the entire roster (Bowers, Jeanty, Crosby), worst OL in the league and worst defensive personnel outside of Crosby. Conversely the Giants have a core on defense to build around in Burns, Carter, Thibodeax, Lawrence, Okereke, etc.
  9. Gasper was always going to be DFA'd, it was just a matter of when not if. As for Brujan, I guess he might compete with Arcia for the backup SS job? Hard to get excited about him... a 16 for 30 SB rate is brutal!
  10. Well that didn't last long. The Dodgers want Fitzgerald at AAA and off the 40 man roster.
  11. I have to imagine Flores is the favorite to land the Steelers job with Tomlin stepping down. They already like him after coaching there in 2022 and the Rooneys are more likely to not care about the lawsuit compared to other teams.
  12. He's doing a great job with a skeleton crew. I don't know how the defense is functional with a DL with zero average starters.
  13. I guess they can on 4th down. Seems like most teams can get these 4th and mediums in desperation mode for whatever reason.
  14. I don't have confidence in most this roster, but I am bullish on Zebby making a step forward in 2026. He's one of a few starting prospects that I don't think should shift to the bullpen, and I'd like to see him get a lot of starts in the big leagues. Right now I don't think he starts in the MLB rotation, but when injuries strike I think he'll be up fairly quickly.
  15. Would be reminiscent of Matt Nagy, got 12 wins with Trubisky and immediately knocked out of the playoffs, then completely bottomed out. However, I do think Johnson is one of the best offensive coaches in the league and has done well with what he's had to work with. Williams is inaccurate as heck, he's only been slightly more accurate than JJ McCarthy and if you factor in drops, JJM was more accurate than him this year.
  16. You have to wonder if Baldelli put in a word for Fitzgerald since he's part of the Dodgers front office now? I have no idea if he's in any kind of role of influence but you would think he would have had some input on a former player of his.
  17. I've posted my PFF depth charts around here before, I think it'd be best to give them their own thread that I can update down the line. FYI, the grades are based on a mix of the players' 2023-2025 PFF grades weighted more towards recent seasons. Here is how the roster looked at the end of the year: The grades themselves are based on percentiles, with Elite being the top 10%, with each being the next 10% percentile with the exception being that Average is the 40-60th. Here is what the roster looks like with the free agents removed: Feel to leave comments - keep in mind that PFF grades are not gospel and I have problems with many of the grades.
  18. The Vikings somehow lost 3 rookie LBs on waivers this season (Dorian Mausi was the 3rd on cutdown day)... none of them are probably any good, but it made zero sense to let Keys go when they could have IR'd a player who was out Week 18. All that to get 30 year old LB Sione Takitaki from off the practice squad, and then didn't even give him a futures deal for 2026. From what I heard on draft day was that they were locked in at guard and wanted one of the three. For the record, I wanted Jihaad Campbell since he was BPA, but Kwesi and the collaboration seemed to get locked into certain positions. At least Jackson had a decent rookie year and should take a step forward in Year 2/3 so I won't complain about taking him there, but now the LB room has zero young talent. And almost zero NFL talent with Cashman only having one year left, Wilson a FA, and Pace Jr a RFA.
  19. Cool beans, I love a good stat study like this. If you could find a way to tweak the numbers to balance the weight of the hitters getting wins more often than losses and vice versa for the pitchers, I think this would be a fascinating stat to reference.
  20. I'm far more skeptical of Bradley... the guy has gotten 3 years to start in the majors and the Rays couldn't figure out how to coax better play out of him and moved on when he still had 4 years of control left for two years of a [more expensive] reliever. Seems like he is a mediocre starter and if any organization were to unlock him, it would be the Rays. Maybe his best fit will be as a reliever but I don't expect to see him in the pen until he has failed out of the rotation. Abel has only 40 major league innings under his belt compared to Bradley's 385, I am much higher on his upside. And from the Phillies' perspective, they moved him for one of the best relievers in baseball and still held onto their best starting prospect. Feels to me less like the Phillies giving up on Abel and more that they are trading from an abundance of options in their rotation.
  21. Good catch, though looks like he was another Terry Ryan signing (2015). I guess you can give them credit for selling high on him.
  22. I'm not convinced Kirk will have a lot of options to be a starter, I think teams will view him as a bridge QB or a good backup. He's going to be 38 and his completion rate and Y/A took a massive drop-off down from his already questionable 2024 season.
  23. Yup, it one of the biggest under-the-radar Twins stories that haven't been talked about enough. It's been only Arraez since the big Sano/Polanco/Kepler crop and that needs to change.
