Getting Mendez at the deadline was the best value for what he was traded for, I'm looking forward to see what he can do.

I refuse to believe that France had any impact on the deal. Varland for Rojas straight-up makes absolutely no sense given Varland has 5 years of control, France was a throw-in. We barely saved any money on him so it wasn't salary related.

I think we can write off Outman, I don't see a path to fixing a guy who is striking out 40% of the time. There is still time for the others, especially Abel and Roden with their inexperience, but it's not encouraging. When it comes to the players we traded away, for the most part I think they made the right decisions to trade the players they did (looking at you, Jax and Stewart) but I didn't particularly like the packages they got back for them. With the way the team is looking, I would have preferred more younger prospects than the likes of Outman and Bradley. And it'd feel better if there was any semblance of a plan for the bullpen instead of this disgraceful display of AAA slop in the majors. We know this team even when it had a competitive budget was deathly afraid of paying relievers and they continue to refuse to move any starter prospects to the pen... how the heck are they going to field a pen next year?

Nice to see Morris hit his stride after it seemed like this might be a lost season for him. Not sure where he fits into the overall pitcher but he should be pitching in the majors in some capacity next year.

What the Heck Happened to José Miranda?
Danchat replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kirilloff had to have one of his bones shaved just to try and stop the chronic wrist problems, assumedly he retired because his wrist was going to be a continual problem going forward. -
McCusker was on the 40 man roster and they may as well give him a shot before he's DFA'd after the season ends. He and Sabato seem fairly superfluous to me... I'd rather see Fedko than Outman but we know where their investment lies. My guess is we see Fedko in 2026, I dunno on Sabato. I just don't believe in him. Agreed, it seemed quite aggressive to start him at AAA. Maybe they start him back in AA to begin 2026 and make him earn the promotion to AAA.

Reading these reports is much more enjoyable reading than the major league summaries, and that's regarding the subject quality, not the writing quality.

Yeah... I was listening to one of his ABs on the radio and it just sounded hopeless. They talked about having the rest of the season and offseason to fix him, but what is there to fix? Guys who strike out 40% of the time aren't just miraculously fixed. They should have taken a lottery ticket over a broken player who is a lock to be a sub-replacement level player next season.

Lot of fun finishes in the noon slate. Steelers-Jets being a boatrace was not something I saw coming. Bucs-Falcons was drama thanks to neither kicker being able to hit anything.

Twins Minor League Report (9/3): Aaron Sabato Goes Berzerk
Danchat replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Once upon a time this regime did that with Royce Lewis and Blayne Enlow. At the time people claimed they went cheap on Lewis to save money and not to use it elsewhere, but then they went overslot for Enlow.- 35 replies

Pablo Lopez has been activated off the 60 day IL list, with Noah Davis DFA'd and already (and unsurprisingly) cleared waviers and outrighted to AAA.

Yup, there's a reason why they say "there's no such thing as a pitching prospect". It's for the better that they ended up trading their top three highest drafted pitchers in 2021 (Petty, Hajjar, Povich).

Yikes, not good for Rojas. 7 runs to 1 out... At this point I'd rather see Laweryson in the major league pen compared to the bodies they're throwing out there. They have nothing to lose at this point.

I saw Noah Davis pitch in AAA a couple weeks ago... he has no idea where the ball is going when he throws it. I don't get what the fascination with him is.

Twins (Ryan) Vs Padres (Morgan): 8/31/25, 12:05 pm
Danchat replied to C-Gangster's topic in Archived Game Threads
Just checking in... this Padres series has been Jekyll and Hyde, for both teams! -
The hype was stupid to begin with, he didn't look that good last year in two starts and is essentially an unknown at this point, I can't find it surprising that he struggled against a great defense. People need to slow the Heisman and 2026 #1 overall pick hype down.

Fun and also very random fact: that was Arraez's 23rd sac fly of his career. Compare that to Gallo's career 4 SFs in almost the exact same number of PAs. Arraez actually just passed him in career PAs a week ago. -

Wallner pre and post trade deadline has been quite the contrast: Pre August 1st: .210/.309 .771 OPS 13 HRs / 22 RBIs Post August 1st: .231/.359 .990 OPS 7 HRs / 13 RBIs I don't blame people for being disappointed with Wallner for most of the season given how he was playing, but benching/demoting him would have been a terrible choice given his track record and K% / BABIP rate suggesting better days were coming. I don't expect his OPS to be maintained in the 900s, what I really want to see is continued success from him in RISP situations. Before this week he was in the 400s in RISP and that .770 OPS was obfuscating that. Give me hits in RISP over solo homers any day.

Blue Jays 9, Twins 8: Welcome to Thunderdome
Danchat replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd still rather see them as one-inning relievers rather than the DFA'd squad we have going who will also not be in the conversation for next year's team. This is reminiscent of Kyle Gibson returning from a sickness late in the year and looking like a shadow of his former self. -
Methinks the reason why the majority of people here think Rocco isn't going is because of the team being unwilling to pay two coaches at once... but you might be onto something with the undeniable issues in the clubhouse. That could force Falvey's hand. Philosophy, though? Rocco would have been gone by now if anyone in the organization thought that was a problem.

Here's what I got for the PFF depth chart: I threw Scott at FB as a placeholder, we'll see if the team just stops using formations with FBs with Ham on the IR.

Hey, Wallner finally had a HR with a runner in scoring position. Progress, I guess!
