  1. They probably want him in AAA and don't envision him as anything more than emergency depth. I guess they see Kreidler as marginally better. Fitzgerald's September in the majors probably didn't change how they see him. Would it be that surprising for this team to fill the major league lineups with placeholders over prospects? I think Martin will get plenty of chances, Roden less likely even though he has nothing more to establish in the minors. I still bet that Larnach gets moved but it's even more puzzling if he stays.
  2. Can't say I get this one... seems like they have enough mediocre 1B/corner OF hitters in the majors, but why not add another. If he sticks it would seem like Bell is going to be DH'ing more often than not, which as already mentioned dampens the value he brings. A Clemens/Wagaman platoon at 1B is incredibly underwhelming but I guess that's the Twins for you. Feels like Julien might not be long for the 40 man roster.
  3. Somehow, the Vikings might just be able to clear the initial 8.5 wins Vegas had on us. Which is wild given how much hope we lost when we hit 4-8.
  4. That's a very good point. I still see Matthews long-term in the rotation but I will bet that the other three end up as relievers.
  5. His job was already safe when he executed the trade deadline, it would be strange for them to can Falvey after trusting him to make so many consequential moves at the deadline. You don't entrust those moves to a GM on a boiling hot seat, and Falvey's moves didn't come off as someone desperate to save their job in 2026.
  6. Game winning drive, not a 4th quarter comeback. They are two different stats, we weren't trailing in the 4th quarter.
  7. I agree, but heading into the year with Sands, Topa, and Funderburk by far the best relievers on your roster is a disaster waiting to happen.
  8. Well there you go. It was fairly clear this was going to happen when Christian said he couldn't answer whether he would play again. That's now Greenard, Metellus, and Darrisaw hitting the IR in the past week.
  9. It's been a bizarre situation, he was on the active roster (not on PUP list) when training camp started in late July only 8 months after the ACL tear... and now Matthew Coller on his blog stated that Kevin O'Connell heavily implied that Darrisaw had a "much worse than usual ACL tear". If that was actually true then he should have been on ice until November or the like. Really stupid management whether it be Darrisaw pushing to play or the Vikings being reckless. Well I got news for you, Rouse was a healthy scratch last week despite Darrisaw being inactive. Brandel was the gameday backup LT and RT... they have zero faith in Rouse and he's probably not on the roster next year. It looks like Rouse and Jurgens are flops, not exactly surprising for 6th/7th round picks.
  10. A major league deal, wow. That is a name that I would have never guessed would resurface to this degree in the majors.
  11. I love me some Arraez, but as has already been stated the 2021-23 version of him vs the 2024-25 version has been very different. I appreciate the deep dive into the analytics to explain the regression between those two versions. His warts (lack of defensive ability, slow running speed) were a lot easier to defend when he was an elite hitter at the plate, but now it's a lot harder to justify. He's only 29 and if a coaching staff can get his bat speed up and get him to be a little more aggressive at the plate, you might get the better version of him. I wouldn't say no to a gamble like that, but once again with him stuck at 1B/DH at makes him hard to pen into a lineup... hence why he's already played for 3 different teams at this point.
  12. There is no way he's getting released, he's tradable with the cap hit of $22.3M with $0M guaranteed money. I'd earmark we could get a 2nd rounder for him or you just restructure the cap hit. That is assuming the shoulder injury is not a career-altering one. It would be cool if Turner could, but he's had 1 pressure the past two games despite playing nearly the same number of snaps as Greenard (9 pressures in that span). Greenard has done a poor job getting sacks, but he's still getting pressures like you'd expect out of a #1 edge rusher and Turner is playing alright, but he's not at that level. I'm down for the team getting younger and getting a draft pick for Greenard, but the issue is that I think an edge room of Van Ginkel and Turner is going to be underwhelming. Seeing how Flores has groomed Turner to be AVG's replacement given how often he drops back into coverage, it'd be more ideal for the pairing to be Greenard and Turner, but they gave AVG a 1/$23M extension so he'll be back in 2026.
  13. Roden has 2 option years remaining. I don't believe that France's $300K had to be offloaded in the deal, I think he was just a throw-in that the Jays took for depth. The deal was Varland for Rojas and Roden. I know people don't like Roden close to as much as Rojas, but I think it's silly to think they were willing to part with Varland for Rojas alone. France wasn't worth Roden.
  14. This seems to be an annual thing... last year it was "France's deal isn't guaranteed, he probably won't be the everyday 1B" and "Bader is here to the 4th OF, he's not going to get more than 400 PAs". Maybe he DHs quite a bit, but he is absolutely going to be the starting 1B this year. It is in every player's interest to have a good season...
  15. I'm surprised it cost that much for Bell, given he didn't hit that well for a 1B/DH type. He's better than the likes of Clemens and Julien, but he's a pure placeholder. Falvey is intent on not moving any of his prospects to 1B, so I guess he isn't blocking anyone technically.
  16. The Bengals aren't trading Burrow, and if they are his trade price is going to be bid to ridiculous levels. A package of 2 1sts (the first being a non-top 10), a reclamation project of a QB and a WR2 that needs to be paid is not gonna do it for them. The trade for that happened a couple picks after us, the Rams got a really good deal moving from the late 1st to 2nd round for the Falcons next year first. I wished we could have made that move, it was a good move on paper at the time and now that the Falcons are bad, it could be a top 10 pick. The Falcons' one consolation is that they guy they moved up for looks like a stud, ED James Pearce who already has 8 sacks. You could say it was a variation of the Dallas Turner trade, except we didn't give up a 1st and Pearce is much better already.
  17. He's the only "hit" after the Polanco/Sano/Kepler crop. They need to start hitting on more, hopefully Rodriguez will be the start of that.
  18. And they didn't lose anybody, as I suspected. None of these prospects are good enough for another team to have to give them a full shot in the majors. Culpepper has upside, but he seems like he's not close to helping a MLB team yet, given the MPH drop and command issues.
  19. So they essentially passed on a Rule 5 draft pick to land a 17 year old catching prospect? Geez. So much for finding a guy who might help the big league team, even if the odds are small of hitting on one.
  20. Susac being available to take given how well he hit at AAA there is suspicious, is he not a very good defensive catcher? Otherwise it seems like a no-brainer to take him, especially given the dearth of depth at catcher in our farm system (who knows if Tait sticks at C). Might as well take a shot to bolster that position for the future, I like the move.
  21. They'll wait until making an addition before making a subtraction like Gasper. There isn't any need to clear room on the 40 man roster right now when they can do it right before making a move.
  22. I don't believe that. I am willing to bet teams were wary of his injury history and they didn't get many offers for him.
  23. Oh yeah, you're right. That's a lot less rest advantage than I thought.
  24. He should be the utility man, not the everyday 1B like he will start the season as.
