  1. Wallner pre and post trade deadline has been quite the contrast: Pre August 1st: .210/.309 .771 OPS 13 HRs / 22 RBIs Post August 1st: .231/.359 .990 OPS 7 HRs / 13 RBIs I don't blame people for being disappointed with Wallner for most of the season given how he was playing, but benching/demoting him would have been a terrible choice given his track record and K% / BABIP rate suggesting better days were coming. I don't expect his OPS to be maintained in the 900s, what I really want to see is continued success from him in RISP situations. Before this week he was in the 400s in RISP and that .770 OPS was obfuscating that. Give me hits in RISP over solo homers any day.
  2. I'd still rather see them as one-inning relievers rather than the DFA'd squad we have going who will also not be in the conversation for next year's team. This is reminiscent of Kyle Gibson returning from a sickness late in the year and looking like a shadow of his former self.
  3. Methinks the reason why the majority of people here think Rocco isn't going is because of the team being unwilling to pay two coaches at once... but you might be onto something with the undeniable issues in the clubhouse. That could force Falvey's hand. Philosophy, though? Rocco would have been gone by now if anyone in the organization thought that was a problem.
  4. Here's what I got for the PFF depth chart: I threw Scott at FB as a placeholder, we'll see if the team just stops using formations with FBs with Ham on the IR.
  5. Blackmon was the second-highest pick of his second class, not first... it's Addison and almost nothing else from 2022 and 2023.
  6. Hey, Wallner finally had a HR with a runner in scoring position. Progress, I guess!
  7. Blackmon was playing deep into the 2nd and 3rd preseason games, and not particularly well, but I guess they lost confidence their in him... and it wasn't long ago people were citing him as a success from the 2023 draft class. Now that entire class is just Addison and Jay Ward, yikes. This franchise has been abysmal at drafting CBs, we haven't had a true success since Xavier Rhodes, though now we'd kill just to even have a middling starter like Trae Waynes with one of our picks. It's a shame we never got to see what Khyree Jackson could do. Feels like WR and CB are musts at this point, and they have the ammo - at least Day 3 picks - to go get those guys.
  8. True, though the reason why I say "put him in the bullpen" often is because this strategy is the easiest way to create relievers and this team is badly in need of them in 2026. I will say that if Bradley has no idea where his pitches are going, moving to the pen isn't going to help. It's more likely to help the kinds of pitchers whose stuff isn't quite good enough / they struggle in the 2nd/3rd time through the lineup. Yeah, these guys might not be that good. But it's worth figuring out if they can function as a reliever before giving up on them.
  9. Y'know, it's funny that this could be referring to Kiersey or Gasper. 😂
  10. Larnach had 301 PAs in the majors at age 24, which I'd say was fairly aggressive given 2020 was a lost year for the minor league players. He only had 240 PAs in the high minors when they called him up.
  11. Abel struggling is one thing, but this is Bradley's third full year as a starting pitcher in the majors... I really have to wonder if there was a better package on the table for Jax rather than swapping him with a struggling starter straight-up. I understand that Jax isn't having the best year but he had value, and I would have preferred taking the package of several farther away prospects. Maybe they can transition Taj to the pen and make some bullpen magic?
  12. Selling Howell for more than we got him for after having a bad camp is unexpected, but hey we'll take it. Wentz is an upgrade and has had experience in the McVay system and can be a fine backup QB while Brosmer is groomed to take over the job next year. I expect some will get used in a trade for a WR in the coming days.
  13. Because this organization can't even develop a hitter who can play shortstop or catcher at an acceptable level.
  14. Geez. No wonder why Abel and Bradley started out in AAA. At least Abel was dominating there, Bradley's last AAA was bad. No surprise he's getting beat here.
  15. Buxton's 2 for his last 22... hitting .188 since he returned from the IL.
  16. As has been discussed, Jose Urena has been DFA'd and Mick Abel has been called up. That leaves a 40 man spot open.
  17. Funny to see the AAA pitching staff throw out far more talent than what we're getting in the average Twins game when Ryan and Ober aren't pitching...
  18. I could almost believe this list was real options given how obtuse some steaming services / packages can be.
  19. I dunno, I think we are overrating many of the hitters on this team by focusing on the stretches where they looked good and are treating their slumps / long stretches of poor play as if those are the outliers when it might really the reverse. I think that's the case for Miranda and Julien, for many of the others it's still up in the air but I have to wonder if no amount of coaching is going to fix some of these guys. There's no harm in trying out new coaches but after seeing how Popkins appears to be doing a quality job in Toronto, it makes you think.
  20. Can you confirm if there is something to gain by keeping Abel down? Thanks.
  21. Good call, I was thinking of Contreras too when the part about being a capable LF came up. I thought he could have been a solid bench bat. Looking more closely at Fedko... hitting .645 in his first 300 PAs at AA at age 24 is concerning. Only a career .250 hitter in the minors. I'll be cheering for him, but too often our underdog hitters at AAA rarely parlay their hot streaks into anything in the majors.
