  1. McLean has some elite stuff - he is going to be really good. Unsung hero has to be Sands pitching the last two innings. Lee needs a reset in St Paul. He is struggling badly to the point that this is hurting his development. It appears that his confidence is shot and he is overmatched at SS as well. The Twins are definitely not putting him in a place to succeed at this point.
  2. When Sim is pitching well, he is using all his pitches and throwing all of them for strikes because he has no dominant pitch to fall back on. If he starts struggling with command of any of his pitches hitters can focus on one or two pitches and then he is in trouble.
  3. Another pitcher with good stuff but struggles with control. He’s likely going to struggle unless / until he improves his control. The exciting thing is there is true upside with him.
  4. Here are things that mean nothing to me: - Houston making a top 100 list - Anything he did hitting wise at Wake Forest - Anything he did hitting at low A This season will give us credible information if the guy has a chance to be a big league hitter. The info would be even better if he gets moved to AA. I personally have my doubts but am looking forward to finding out.
  5. Need a third choice - meh. I feel the same way I did at the start of the season which was this will be a 75 win team.
  6. I like it. The roster fits together better and we are taking steps to find out about the future. The only question I have is about the backups. I would send Lee down to see if he can get on a roll and then eventually bring him back up to be the infield utility guy or take Keaschall spot for a bit if he needs a reset. As River Brian has been pointing out there is no reason we can’t use all roster spots to improve this team.
  7. As always I go by TKs theory. You don’t know what you have in a hitter, good or bad, until they have 1000 - 1500 at bats. Time will tell.
  8. Being the only team has to help with things like corporate sales of boxes, etc. However the Padres have been the anti-Twins when it comes to fan engagement. Turns out allowing your organization to be rudderless for a decade costs money.
  9. Me too. I’m not a fan of Fundy as a relief pitcher. I am 100% in support of him as a person - has to be hard to concentrate on baseball. Wishing him and his family nothing but the best.
  10. Taj did his job. I e never understood the love for Funderburk- the guy has no control. It’s sheer luck if he puts up an inning without allowing base runners.
  11. This is more correct than fans want to believe. Brooks Lee has to improve his hitting substantially in order to play anywhere.
  12. Regarding the “new” style of hitting I think we need to wait a little. If this season was a game we would be in the first inning. There are almost certainly dry spells ahead. We will see how many and for how long
  13. I don’t understand the need by some people to try and be hurtful towards another person why? I have the same question for him when he used an anti- gay slur. And of course our current political climate sets a horrible example for how to act towards and treat others.
  14. For the right return, I would trade Royce. For all the accolades about his talent he’s proven very little. His arm and glove are erratic and pretty apt to swing and miss. He does have power, which is important and his speed looks better. My guess is, he wouldn’t bring back a lot in trade right now.
  15. If we end up with Abel and Bradley as viable starters for the next 5-6 years it’s already a win. If Tait ends up good it’s a steal and if Rojas makes it its highway robbery.
  16. As others have noted, none of them are doing enough at AAA to worry about it. And it’s a different question for each one. GG is really going to have to hit as he’s basically a DH. KC on the other hand, if he plays well at short, doesn’t have to hit nearly as well to make it.
  17. Certainly a lack of close games is playing into this but I appreciate Sheldon’s less rigid approach. Rocco always wanted his relievers to start an inning whereas Shelton will let them get an extra out or two and bring the reliever in against the best possible matchup. If you are saving close to an appearance per game that will add up over time.
  18. Here is the thing: Zebby hasn’t been good in the big leagues so this idea that he had a straightforward path to the Twins rotation is silly. I hope he figures it out and can contribute to the the Twins in the rotation or the pen but that is clearly no sure thing. I think this is a classic example of hopes getting way ahead of actual performance. The hardest jump is the last one from AAA to the bigs.
  19. This is an impressive list -none are likely to be broken with the possible exception of Knoblauchs 62 steals. Harper’s 16 strikeouts is crazy.
  20. Do we know this was actually the motivation? Has anybody on the Twins confirmed it?
