  1. Can he better? Sure anything is possible the odds say no, but Berrios only has 10.6 WAR though age 28 so it isn't like he needs to do a ton in the next 6 years to get there. But he only has 251 minor innings in 4 seasons. Berrios pitched 103.2, 140, 166.1 he three full years in the minors, and fourth year he pitched 169.2innings (111.1 in AAA and 58.1 with the Twins) To me the big difference is going to be SWR will more likely than not be asked to do what Berrios has been asked to do and that is be a tradition starter, He basically has never been asked to pitch much more than 4 innings a game. I am hoping he becomes good/great but with any twins pitching prospect his ceiling seems to be Joe Ryan.
  2. I would like to point out Joe Ryan did the impossible. He walked the first two guys in the 6th inning (YES THE 6 inning) and got out of the inning without giving up a run. Based on what people have been writing on here, I didn't think it was possible that a starting pitcher could get out of a jam after the 5th innings.
  3. Lets not forget Jax will be 28 at the start of next season and lets be honest 3.74 ERA doesn't scream shut down back end relief pitcher pitcher, Winder 26 in less than 2 months, and Ober just turned 27 and have combined less than 80 MLB innings this year after pitching 72 and 108 last year, Duran was a top 5 starting pitcher prospect two years ago and now is bullpen pitcher (very good/great bullpen pitcher) We are talking about the Cole Sands that has given up 16 earned runs in 21 innings this year? Sure he has come up in pitched 5 innings but lets see how that continues to go. Ryan isn't from any prospect pipeline, he has pitched 9 more minor league innings with the Twins than Paddock, Gray and Mahle. Really good trade but should be considered no different than Gray or Mahle.
  4. And Theilbar had gone 12 games in a row without an earned run, that had to end at some point, sadly it wasn't in a 6 - 3 game or something.
  5. Alcala is out for the year, and from last friday - Maeda (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday and will throw another bullpen Monday, So I think we can assume we won't see him for quite a while if at all this year.
  6. To be fair to the Twins they also have had younger guys come up Buxton, Arraez, Polanco, Kepler, Sano, Berrios. It just seems like Atlanta guys have shined brighter. Albies and Acuna were young international signings, Grissom was a 11 round pick and Harris a 3rd rounder in 2019 both high school picks and completely amazing they were not affected by the Covid year like all the Twins prospects. Back on topic, It seems like a no-brainier to sign these young guys early for how many years were Kepler and Polanco for example considered great trading chips compared to the guys that didn't sign these contracts. Sure you might miss on a guy or two but the upside is so much higher that it seems like a gamble worth taking.
  7. I would for sure don't see any reason not to. Not to get off topic but how the heck does Atlanta continue to turn out young stud prospects? (Age debuted) Harris (21), Grisson (21), Contreras (22), Austin Riley(22), Dansby Swanson(22), Acuna Jr (20), Ozzie Albies (20), Fried (23), Strider (22), Kyle Wright(22)
  8. You say that like it is True, I would argue that they are the more opposite then the same of the Twins. McClanahan started last year (24 year old Roolie) almost exactly like the twins treat all their pitcher for 8 games, but since has averaged facing 6 innings and over 23 batters faced. Kluber has average 5 1/3 and 23 batters faced. Rasmussen is similiar to the Twins pitchers but then they go with a starter for when their starter isn't great.
  9. Out of curiosity are there any Twins minor league pitchers doing much more than this? (5 innings)
  10. I have lived without the Twins on TV for that last couple of years (HULU) and I will continue to do so, Won't pay anything more to watch them. If I want to catch part of a game I will head to my low brew pub have a beer or two with my wife and watch for an hour or so or head to planet fitness and walk on the threadmill for a hour. What baseball might learn is that looking at the box scores and talking about baseball is just as fun as watching some of the product on the field.
  11. I see the smart run teams trying to use one relief pitcher for 2 innings if the starter goes less than 6. That sets up the bullpen better for the following days. You can look at the box scores the last few weeks and see this happening (Even with the Twins)
  12. I agree with this statement it isn't Bundy's fault that everybody got hurt and forced him up the chain thus making him look worse than he is. I think most teams (maybe not the the top few) would say for $5 million I get a 5th starter that doesn't miss a start goes on average 5 innings with an ERA of 4.76 (knowing it is that high because a 1/3 of his starts are probably crap) would say sign me up.
  13. ? he isn't signing here! (or degrom and probably not Rodon) I was just saying how do you explain to the prospects you brought up though the system that they have no chance of being him ever(in a Twins uniform), because they aren't going to let them. That was my point in bringing in Vets and them telling the young guys to bad so sad.
  14. I hope Sonny Gray isn't allowed to talk about his time with the Twins to an top end free agent pitcher, any chance he signed and NDA?
  15. I like all three, but I zero chance the Twins sign any of them, the second set of guys are not much different than the Mahle, Gray, Ryan group, you are looking at 5/6 innings guys max. If they aren't going to let Gray work out of a little trouble last night in the 7th up by 3 after basically being perfect for the first 6th, they aren't letting anybody. How could the twins sign a Verlander and say to the rest of the team there are different rules for him then the rest of you, and we aren't even going to give you are chance to be like him?
  16. "The team has the payroll flexibility to make a deal work, but the Twins also have quite a few options in the outfield." Are you talking about the sames one from the last two years? Because I would say the Twins have very few options for outfield and that is why Gordon, Cave, Beckman, Garlick and Celestino have played so much. Would take any of these guys with a short contract and big money, maybe two would sign 3 year 110 million, probably not but we can dream.
  17. 35 year old deGrom can opt out, Eovalid, Nola has a club option, Rodon can opt out, Manaea, Kershaw, and Bassitt has a mutual option. That seems like the best and I bet the Twins get none of them.
  18. I would call it lazy tweeting by Nash to say the last 10 games without mentioning it is only 52 innings, but it is not it must have taken some work to figure it with just 10 starts, because if you do his last 11 his ERA is 4.18 (56 innings) or his last 9 (44 innings) it is 4.29. But I say no to Sano and sad to see him go, as for Bundy is less than 5 innings a start and a ERA of 4.76 really cost 11 million? I say no on him as well. Gray has been a pretty big disappoint for me as well, He is also averaging less than 5 innings a start and if you told me before the season he will have less Quality starts then Smeltzer, pitch in the 7th inning twice and only have 3 games with over 87 pitches and a max of 97 I would have called you a damn liar. Maybe we trade him this off season and re-coup on the Petty trade?
  19. Yes that is exactly what I was saying ?, I guess satire is allowed in the article but not the messages? Yes I do think of overweight people like me with words like bathrobe all day. slob, goon, sweatpants he calls “my going-out ones.” drink the dipping sauce from Raising Cane’, attacks a Culver’s ButterBurger with a ferocity and stain on the jersey, you don't think that is what he was trying to portray an of shape Homer Simpson type person? And my attempt at humor was more about being sensitive in 2022 not about fat people. Finally did you not see the message I said it wasn't my best attempt at humor?
  20. Similar to the article it wasn't my best attempt at humor. ?‍♂️
  21. This seems like a blatant shot at overweight people, didn't think this was allowed in 2022?
  22. The hard part with him and others this year, is if he is Plan A at whatever position, lets say SS you have to have a fairly solid plan B, because if he starts out real slow or overwhelmed you either have to ride that out and hope he turns like Miranda did, or if he starts out good and goes the other way like Larnach for example you have to have somebody pretty competent to replace him. IMO the best position for him next year is to start in AAA and force his way up, or give him Gordon's utility position and get him as many starts as he deserves and if he forces his way into the lineup like Arraez has, well that is wonderful problem to have.
