  1. They didn't put him on the 40 man last year, what has he done this year besides get a year older that would change the Twins mind this year? He played with Stevenson last year who put up better numbers last year compared to him this year and he is now playing in Japan, The Twin have also had Cave (who has better minor league numbers) I think they know what they have in Keirsey and I believe they don't think he is the solution to any questions that have. With that said, I wish him the best of luck.
  2. I agree it is too early, but I don't get why RF or LF is out of the question in the future. He seems like he has mad skills at third, but in reality has played so little baseball in the last 8 years (only 102 games at 3rd) that it shouldn't be a surprise he struggles a times, it sure seems like he has slowed the game down at the plate, but in the field the game still looks fast for him.
  3. Who cares about FIP when talking about the game that just happened? We know exactly what happened, I would agree that it looks like the Twins aren't or shouldn't be expecting a quality start out of him every time if he continues to pitch like this. I was watching the KC broadcast and they couldn't stop talking about Witt's homer and how Varland could have made that same pitch 10 more times and it is unlikely it is a homer again. and I agree with you on the offense besides Lewis, Santana and Miranda yesterday's lineup was pretty terrible.
  4. Why not, it is done all the time on here, I have heard 4 or 5 inning starts that were considered great. I watched just about the whole game and Varland did pretty darn good, they way he went about it doesn't seem like the best way going forward, but he did something today SWR has only done in 7 of 20 starts and Festa hasn't done yet and that is pitch 6 innings.
  5. My point was he wasn't even in the top 10 before the season started, but between injuries and his performance he moved up the list. The first reason isn't good for the Twins the second one is good.
  6. Said somebody every year for 20 years. People have been saying this since before and after with Berrios, Gibson, Buxton, Sano, Lewis, Romero, Gonzo, AK..........
  7. Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Paddack, SWR, Festa, Varland, and at the very beginning DeSclafani, so he would be 9th and that doesn't include guys like Boushley, Dobnak, Plutko and Headrick who he passed as the season went on. But I get your point.
  8. He is already 24 (Yes, I know so many don't care about age) but he will be 25 at the start of next season (or real close) and if he isn't given much of chance next year, because they couldn't go into the season with him being the 6th or 7th starter), he will be 26 in 26 and will still be a wild card, generally not the best position for a pitcher to be in. Now he gets his feet wet, and if does well can be the Twins SWR next year and can be in the top 6 - 8 starters next year. Good Luck Kid!
  9. Well their was always the option of not picking up Polanco's option and just letting him go.
  10. For the whole season he hasn't been Mediocre he has been a pleasant (dare I say amazing) surprise, and helped the Twins save the season after their start. But if we are being honestly he has been mediocre in just under half his starts (I am not being negative or taking anything away from him by saying that) He just needs to keep building on what he is doing. I like SWR his change up can be amazing, and when he is on there aren't all that many 5 inning pitchers better than him.
  11. Yoshinobu Yamamoto left a game June 7th with triceps tightness, a week later pitched 2 innings and hasn't pitched since. Hopefully this isn't the case with Ryan.
  12. Boushley (19), Plutko (12) have the most starts in AAA not counting Festa, Varland and Dobnak, Raya (18 - 63.1 innings, 5.54 ERA), Adams (16 - 4.28 ERA), Ohl (12 - 4.95 ERA), Nowlin (10 4.48 ERA) in AA. Matthews (9 - 1.95 AA, 3 - 7.07 AAA)
  13. One of the times they will be correct, hopefully it is this time.
  14. Nola, Wheeler, Sanchez, Suarez Gilbert, Castillo, Kirby, Miller Sale, Fried, Lopez Glasnow, Stone, Flaherty Lugo, Ragans, Singer Not saying all of them are better, but lets not over hype the Twins either.
  15. @USAFChief what part do you disagree with? https://sports.yahoo.com/cubs-nab-trevor-larnach-home-004755855.html
  16. It was pretty darn close, and Larnach almost made a great slide and put his hand over the tag. The play was a pretty basic deep fly bar, but both the outfielders lost the ball (CF actually ducked and covered his head) and it took two really good relay throws just to make it close. I am not going to rip Larnach too much, besides it was a bone head play, 99.9% of the time that ball is caught.
  17. IMO all pitchers were helped out by how bad the ump was tonight (Both ways) it was hard to know what he would call a strike or ball, and seemed the batters ended up taking a lot a bad swings on pitchers that they really didn't know how they would be called. Festa was dealing, the change up was something special last night. I will say that even though Larnach didn't score on. the Twins have benefited from some really bad outfield play the last few weeks. Great Win!
  18. If I was the manager he would have been pulled after the effort he put on Vazquez double in a 4 - 2, while I was very happy that it dropped it was absolutely embarrassing to watch.
  19. Not really sure what you are trying to say, but George Foster got his first shot in the majors at age 20, full time player by age 22, Jose Bautista got his first shot at age 23, Downing at age 22. They may have developed power later, but it must have been obvious they had skills very earlier in their career. Not sure why Cruz didn't start his baseball career until age 20 (Rookie) league but he certainly had power almost from the get go, He hit 156 career minor league homers and was in AAA in 3 seasons. But Wallner isn't a late blooming slugger he has be slugging since he was a 19 year old at Southern Mississippi, and it isn't like he spent years in the minors trying to figure it out (He has been hitting homers and striking out in the whole time in the minors), This is more about hitting left handed pitchers or his ability to hit left handed pitchers or if the Twins will give him the chance. I have my reservations about him every hitting left handers well enough to just say left field is your for 145+ games, but I didn't think Rooker could ever be a full-time player.
  20. If they don't they all should be fired instantly and without hesitation. You don't pigeon hole guys like, Like what they what they are doing with Wallner and Larnach or not, these isn't the first time it is being done and the Twins aren't the only organization to do or doing it.
  21. A super young hall of fame talent is going to be given more opportunities than others was my point. As for Wallner, like a said I agreed with you, to me this is more on the Twins then Wallner at this point, Nobody knows what kind of hitter Wallner will be against lefties, because he hasn't been given the chance here, will he ever? IMO what happened at the end of last year, spring and early in the season left a bad taste for the fans, and it certainly looks like the same for the front office. I think the Twins are trying to build him back up slowly and putting him in spots to succeed, we will see what happens when they expand that, I certainly hopes he succeeds.
  22. I agree with 99% of the things you are saying about Wallner and more specially his usage. But can we stop making IMO silly comparisons, Wallner is a guy that didn't see the majors until age 24 and will be 27 when next season starts and Henderson was up at age 21 and at age 22 was ROY and top 10 MVP also by age 21 was seen as a potential hall of fame type of player and at a much older age Wallner was seen a possible major league regular. There has been time and will be time going forward to get Wallner at bats against lefties, IMO the time isn't the start of a season (unless of course we are talking Jenkins or ERod next year, which I know is really wishful thinking)
  23. Isn't that against righties this year? What does that have to do with improving against lefties? It isn't like the Twins are even letting him try.
