  1. and people on here all the time say these guys just getting to the majors at that age are the solution to any issues the Twins have, and based on the history of baseball it is more the exception than the rule that a guy coming up at 25 or later ever becomes that type of player. Age 24 for a high school or International signing it is also very unlikely; for a college player it is kind of a toss up, really depending on position or type of player. Generally if a baseball player is going to be a full time difference maker type of player they have shown those skills by that age. I am not saying that they can't become good nice MLB players (see Kyle Farmer). Sure others have pointed out a dozen of so players that have succeeded but there are thousands that don't.
  2. Are you saying guys that get to the majors in their mid 20's or later probably or likely won't end up being a difference maker type of player?
  3. This year he has only blown 1 of 17 chances, prior to this year he had blown 6 of 20, he like all relief pitchers are bound to have bad outings. Jax this year has blown 6 of 38, and prior to this year 6 of 25 and 7 of 34. which means IMO he is going to blow a save somewhere between every 4 to 6 attempts. Expecting them to be perfect every single time is a fool's errand.
  4. I thought after reading this I would see some actual positive results. But in the ten games this month his slash is .214/.214/.357 = .571, with two extra base hits. Going back into August his slash is .278/.366/.333 = .699, but if you take his 4 for 5 game out his number drop way back down. I have like Julien and still do, but he needs to get things figured out this off season, otherwise he is barely playable at this point.
  5. Huge win, almost a must win and Pedro came though. The Twins seem to do fine against mediocre right handed pitching. My goodness imagine being a mediocre RH starting pitcher and have to face Wallner, it must feel like everybody else facing Judge. Take advantage of another one today!
  6. I would agree, there didn't seem to be the keep it close until the end and make a come back, it felt like after it was 0-4 it was over.
  7. I actually feel bad for the Twins "Young" starters, first they are coming up to or past their most innings ever and they are being asked to be perfect (pitching decisions and lack of offense) and for the most part IMO they haven't been taught to pitch but more to throw. And they wasted 83 innings on Varland in the minors, Those or at least some of those could have been used to help the others keep their innings down by using him as a 2 inning starter or something.
  8. Did I read the problem with Royce is being healthy?
  9. The throw wasn't that bad, it wasn't perfect but after watching Lee's and Julien's throw (a few games ago) it had to be low, it was going to be bang bang. The play was to first!
  10. There was ZERO chance of getting the guy at second, there is no way he could have flipped the ball there faster than the runner, and just transferring it from his glove to his throwing hand would have taken too long. In live action by the time he is throwing home the guy is basically standing on second. The play at the plate was going to be bang bang even with a great throw and catch. If you are playing midway way double play depth, you throw the ball to first and tip your hat to the Rays for running on the play. My question is I thought it was illegal or against the rules of baseball for a left handed batter to bunt to third with a the shift on?
  11. On the Tampa Broadcast they asked the question why the Rays were bunt defense with Lee, they said he doesn't have a sacrifice in his professional career and the Twins don't bunt in this situation. The other guy said down by 1 in the 9th why not bunt and be able to score on a wild pitcher (They don't have Richards so less likely) or a sac fly, and get to the 10th with a guy on second. The other guy said in the past the road team played to win, but is that the best strategy with the new rules?
  12. The steal of 3rd was all on Festa, the others probably a bit of both.
  13. So spending time to watch the games, listen to it on the radio or following it online but deciding on how to spend your money makes you not a fan? Kind of a high bar, no?
  14. The Twins need to get Eeles up, see if he can be a spark plug, the kid is on a heater lets see if he can do the same in the majors.
  15. I guess if the choice is making the playoffs and see what happens or complaining that the Twins probably will make the playoffs but aren't good enough to do anything, I will take it is better to be lucky than good.
  16. There is no reason to put him on the 40 in the offseason (if he isn't already on it) he will be 28 in May. Nick Gordon got the Twins Okert, I don't think the Twins could even do that good for Keirsey unless it is salary dump type situation.
  17. Go back in Time and be better as a 24 year old in A+ and as a 25 year old in AA. It probably also doesn't help him that the Twins had Stevenson last year and could be comparing the two and come to the conclusion he isn't as good as him? Also the fact that he wasn't protected last year and not one team thought he was good enough to be on their roster. I would have loved if the Twins brought him up last year instead of Stevenson just to get a look.
  18. Anything can happen in the playoffs against anybody, just get there and quit worrying about what will happen in the playoffs, until the playoffs happen.
  19. This is what I find interesting in all this, The Twins have played 132 games, and we know exactly that they have done (72-58) and we know how they did it, All the analytics can tell us is how things should be looking going forward, not how they will be. Does the backwards analytics take into account the week or two where the Phillies, Tigers, and white sox out fielders seem to misread, misplay every important hit? Or 0 -28 pinch hitting, substitutions or the wrong time to hang a pitch?
  20. Maybe we can sign him, and trade him for injured players and a prospect? </s> I wish Max the best and thank him for his time, but it is time to move on (well actually past that) good luck Max I hope you prove me wrong.
  21. I would like to point out Jax has went more than one inning ONCE this year and that was May 8th against Seattle, I was watching the game and I told my son I would leave Ober in, three innings is asking a lot tonight from this pen. On the SD broadcast they said Ober has been the best pitcher in the MLB for his last ten starts maybe give him a chance to prove it.
  22. Ober (and Ryan) have pitched more than 80 innings, even Sands has pitched more innings, so IMO he can't be the MVP. My MVP as today is Ober, or Santana, but I could listen on Castro.
  23. Arb1 starts next year, meaning a UFA before the 2028 season.
  24. Man, I am usually the one ranting, but they took 3 of 4 on the road, All star reliever Yates had a loss and and blown save. This was a good series, Alcala blew is second save in 17 chances, blown saves happen, (jax has blown 4 of 32 and Duran 6 of 30)
