    Wait, what 29 year old rookies aren't solid league major league players? That can't be true! I thought the more time you spent in the minors the better a player becomes?

    Career Jax, 15 saves, 66 holds, 20 blown Duran, 58 save, 27 holds, 7 blown. Blown save or Blown hold are are the same IMO, the pitcher entered with a lead, the other team tied the game or went ahead. If you go though Jax's game log for his career he generally pitches great for 4 to 6 games and then blown one. Sometimes he goes a game or two longer, but that is how it has went.

    What do you expect from him? He is supposed to be the 7th or 8th guy out of the pen and has pitched in 6 of 9 games. He hasn't given up multiple runs yet and and hasn't given up a run in half of his appearances. I don't think he will ever be on the three or four best guys out of the pen, but what he is doing hasn't been horrible for a back end bullpen guy. If I have complaints it is that he hasn't been used for more than 1 inning causing the overuse of everybody.

    Jax's career his has blown 20 of a 101 save chances - 19.8% Duran's career his has blown 7 of 92 save chances - 7.6% They both have bullpen staples since 2022,

    How can you compare these guys without including the amount of games played/started? Last two years Raleigh has started 239 games and played in the 128 and 135 (Both league highs) at catcher, Jeffers has started 152 and played in 168 games, Smith has started 223, Murphy has had some injuries but also has started more games at catcher (165) Like just about everybody else the Twins have brought up from the minors it takes two guys to fill a position so extending a non-full time player seems kind of strange, same with Wallner if he isn't going to play 140-150 games a year you don't extended him because it takes two roster spots to fill the position. (And Jeffers bat isn't good enough to start 25 or more games at DH, unless he gets hot then start him any where until he cools off. With all this said I like Jeffers, just not enough to play him a salary of a full time player that isn't a full time player.

    It is one game, I am not worried about one game. I will say this though, everything about yesterday screamed same old Twins. 11 K's, 8 hits, 1 - 8 with RISP, 5 pitches used, and a few guys looking foolish trying to pull balls they had no business pulling. Jeffers had a few swings that make him look like a minor league hitter, him and Miranda need to watch France's approach. Finally France looked pretty good at first as did Willson Contreras, who by the way has played first a grand total of 11 times in his career with 4 starts, can we stop with how hard it is to play first?

    With this you get every televised sporting event, and if the Twins are playing the Royals for example and the Royals are televising the game you can watch the Royals announcing team or the Twins announcing team.

    So the best players hit the ball hard and generally pull the ball? Next we are going to be told water is wet? It is stats like this that that get people to say if we could just get these mediocre players to do this, we could turn them into mediocre players that hit a couple of more homers, strike out way more and hit .200, exactly the type of players that fans want to see </s>

    that would be amazing, there was only like 15 guys in the league that hit 260 or above with 34 doubles and 10 plus homers, there was only 47 guys that hit 30 or more doubles. Would love to see those stats. The last Twins to put up those numbers was Polanco in 21 and 19,

    @Matthew Lenz what does this mean? Baldelli does tend to go to the bullpen once the lineup turns over a second time. Since López is already an innings eater of sorts, would it make sense to push him to face lineups a third time through? Lopez averaged facing 24 batters each game, doesn't that mean he averaged facing the first 6 batters 3 times? Ryan averaged 23, Ober a hair under 33, and SWR averaged 20. I guess what I am saying and asking is they aren't being pulled when the lineup turns over, but they are also not allowed to face the worst hitters a third time (for whatever reason, pitch count, situation or whatever the case is)

    Nobody should be arguing over how old the 26th man on the roster should be, if people were saying Gasper is the solution to a problem then I and maybe others would be talking about his age, but he is a fill in player (Hopefully).

    Kind of funny what they considered injury prone in the past compared to the current athlete. Molitor played 125 (21), 140 (22), 111 (23),64(24), 160 (25), he had almost a whole career by the time he was Lewis's age. Molitor was an iron man compared to Lewis and Buxton. In his 21 year career he played less than 125 7 times and one was a strike.

    100% agree with this, unless of course you moving guys all around the lineup based on matchups and what not, then it seems not to matter as much over the course of the season, but still does during the game.

    LOL, my issue in college (Juco) wasn't defensive, it was hitting a fastball, probably a curve as well but I didn't see many of those. In reality I was given too many chances because I was a very good (Not great) defensive of first baseman, I pretty much could scoop anything and the other infielders loved throwing to me because they had the confidence I would help them out, but my bat hurt my team more than my fielding helped. By the end of my second year I had lost my job to a player that wasn't a good fielder but was much better hitter than me.

    It is because you don't need to groom first basemen, it is the easiest position on the field to play. Nobody groomed Harper or Vlad, they just gave them a glove and said go do what you do (Be athletic and catch the ball) There is some foot work that needs to be taught but again shouldn't be that difficult to grasp the concept. For guys that aren't that athletic(Wallner) it might be a bit harder, but you keep them close to the bag until they become more comfortable. As a former college first basemen the idea that first is a defensive position seems utterly ridiculous

    I would put everybody on the list except Buxton, CC, Bader, Vazquez and Jeffers. IMO those guys can't/won't be replaced by a slow start, everybody else could/should be with a slow start.

    It is nothing like moving Wallner to second. Julien is not great at second but he isn't terrible either. If he can hit like he did in 23, continue to play second base and improve just a little at second base, he is all star material. I am not saying he will or can get back to that, but sending a 26 year (just over a month) old to the minor leagues and asking him to get better, why bother even having him taking up a 40 man spot. I will say with the way this FO builds a roster it really doesn't given any young player a chance, which is say ( I also said Julien and Wallner should have been given first basemens gloves a couple of years ago) In reality the Twins have 6 second basemen (Castro, Lewis, Lee, Julien, Gasper, Martin)

    Not impossible, but not likely either. Since 2020, the Twins have had one guy win 15 games (Lopez last year) Ryan won 13 in 2022, 11 was the most in 2023, The Twins starters just don't end up with a bunch of wins, in 2023 they won the division had 4 pitchers start 26, 29, 32 and 32 games and those 4 starters ended up with 11, 8, 11 and 8 wins. Gray did end up second in the Cy Young. I will add I think any of the three could put those numbers you listed (not sure on the ERA), but I wouldn't bet on it, but I am hoping all three doing some close to that.

    IMO, we can take that he has earned his spot on the major league club as a 1B/DH. What he does with that during the season is TBD. I also think we can take away that if he doesn't keep it up during the regular season he will be given a long (too long) leash.

    Seems pretty simple because if his bat gets back to .839 OPS he is playable at 2nd, even with his defense (maybe not late in the game)

    Probably not going to believe this but Eeles will be on the injury list in AAA after off season knee surgery. With this and not being on the 40 man yet, he will have to be pretty amazing to see time on the big club in MN.

    What does this mean hasn't been given a opportunity? as a 21 year old out of college (2018) he put up a .798 OPS in Rookie ball, then in 2019 between Rookie (.584) and A ball he put up a .436 OPS, 2020 happened, then as a 24 year old he started the season in A+ and put up a .730 OPS, As a 25 year old in AA he put up a .724 OPS (I would have called him up at the end of that year), then as a 26 year old he started in AA and put up .850 OPS, and then .739 in AAA. What screams this dude deserves an opportunity, other than he is a minor league player that we all hope is a real player to save the day, Julien, Miranda, Larnach and others make his numbers look terrible and people on here are ready for them to be gone, Andrew Stevenson put up better numbers and remind me again what country he is playing in? If this guy was worthy of a spot some team would come calling and offer a trade for him, I suspect other teams understand the position the Twins are in.
