Being 24 for a starting pitcher to debut isn't the end of the world, but having an ERA at 4 and a whip 1.264 is worrisome. Compare that to Ryan and Ober both had a WHIP below 1 in the minors. (As does Zebby) Besides K's Festa compares similair to Erik Fedde.

IMO, the twins have 5 players that are really above replacement level, CC, Buxton, Wallner, Lewis and Jeffers. Three of the 5 are generally hurt, one is very streaky and the other prior to this year was only allowed to face opposite pitchers and got hurt this year. Is it a surprise they started out this slow, not really, would it be a surprise if a few of the replacement levels players got and and the Twins go out and win say 8 of 12 at some point, not really. Can they do it long enough to hold off the other teams in the division, not likely

And if we are being honest most Twins fans have no idea or little idea on who Keaschall or Zebby is, I had two friends text me last night to ask about Keaschall (and both are limited season ticket holders) Being on this site daily or almost daily is being in a Twins fish bowl and thinking people that aren't on here have any idea who Twins prospects are is just kind of silly.

What I expect is (or really hope) is that he plays 5 out of every 6 games and doesn't look over matched at the plate, the results probably won't look great but as long as he is competing and playing I will be happy. If his at bats look like Keirsay's have so far, I will be sad and disappointed and ready to sent him back down fairly soon

It isn't any different when people complain about calls (strikes/balls) against the Twins but ignore when the Twins pitchers or hitters get the benefit. I watched the game and it seemed pretty obvious at one point he wasn't touching the base.

Can we stop with the silly comparisons? You are trying to compare a 20/21 year old Trout to a 28 year old Keirsey, it is beyond silly. I have seen just about every Twins player/prospect compared to a All Star or HOF player (remember when EROD was a Soto type player or Wallner to Judge) Can we stop, No current player or prospect on the Twins should be compared to anybody but decent regular everyday players at best, until they prove otherwise. Even Jenkins only has 491 minor league plate appearances in two plus years.

Rocco Baldelli and the Case of the Missing Lever
TwinsDr2021 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First there is no way the union would allow the Twins to sent Buxton or Correa down without a real injury. Second you say let the kids play. Keirsey turns 28 in less than a month, McCusker turns 27 in less than a month, Camargo turns 26 July 1 (not horribly old for a catcher but still not a kid), Martin just turned 26. If you think these guys are solutions to this team, things are worse then they even look now. As far as the pitching, while younger still aren't really young, but agree they need to get them pitching against major league players sooner than later, and it makes it easier after SWR so far has proven last year wasn't a fluke, we will see more on Festa this week, and I would give Paddack one more start before moving him to the pen and giving Matthews a chance. That way they could shop Lopez, Ober and.or Ryan this trade deadline.- 59 replies

He will be 30 at the end of July and has only pitched in 152 career games with a 9 - 13, 3,99 ERA and 30 holds, 1 save and 7 blown saves, Is it the end of the world to let somebody like that go? I would normally say no, but when you are asking for 4 innings per start from relief pitchers you do need guys to get you outs, and not everybody is going to be perfect every time out.

Rocco Baldelli and the Case of the Missing Lever
TwinsDr2021 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have been saying this since after the 2019 season, Rocco isn't a good manager, to he credit he has gotten better over time but that has just gotten him to slightly below average.- 59 replies

It is my understanding he is out of minor league options. So there is no sending him down, only letting him go. This is his 7th year of pitching at least once in the majors.

Do the Twins Have Offensive Upgrades in the Minors?
TwinsDr2021 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Lets be honest, the Twins only have a couple (hitting) prospects in AA or higher. Jenkins, Erod, Keaschall and maybe Rosario if you believe in him. Everybody else are just minor league filler type guys and not guys that are going to help turn around a team.- 23 replies

Do the Twins Have Offensive Upgrades in the Minors?
TwinsDr2021 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
IMO, quite a few of the teams would give EROD or Keaschall a chance to see what they have, but the Twins are still trying to figure out what the have with Larnach, Juien, Miranda and Lee. I would put EROD in Left and see what they have but that moves Larnach to the bench and he only has three positions (LF, RF and DH)- 23 replies

Week in Review: Cold Bats, Hot Mess
TwinsDr2021 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Got to be honest if you would have told me that 10% of the way though the season that Wallner, Larnach, Julien, Miranda, Castro, Jeffers and Correa would have a combined 4 homers there is no chance I would believe you. (Ever harder to believe it ties them for 21st)- 17 replies

Twins 5, Tigers 1: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day
TwinsDr2021 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I generally watch the other team's crew, sure they are homers about their side, but most also seem more objective about the Twins.- 39 replies

They lost the game pulling a starter after 73 pitches without having much trouble with the Royals lineup since the first inning, and I can't be the only one that thought, oh this isn't going to go well since we need three inning and really only have Sands and Duran. And even if it goes well, the next three starts the Twins very likely will need a rested bullpen behind and AAA call up, Paddack and SWR. After what Ryan gave them and then if Ober can go 7 their bullpen was set up very nicely for a weekend series against the Tigers.

Not much of a fan of Martin (plus didn't he get hurt last night?) As far as Keaschall and/or ERod, sign me up, I though ERod should have been given an outfield spot to start the year. I am all for actual young guys being given a chance. These two seem like they could become a spark plug, Martin to me just seems better than terrible, but that is just my opinion. I am just waiting/hoping for a Twin to actually become an Acuna, Tatis, Witt, etc.....

This article makes me feel like Matthew Taylor's family was being held hostage and he was forced to write an article explaining why and how Rocco did the right things. (Hopefully everybody is all right) "If Ober allowed even one baserunner, the top of the Royals' order—Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinny Pasquantino—would be looming for a fourth look at Ober. That simply wasn't going to happen." So lets say Ober does come out and one of the three or even two of three get on, they could have still brought in a relief pitcher before Ober had to face somebody four times. But lets be honest India isn't somebody anybody should scared of. (Witt on the other hand) By this time he will be mostly likely well over 80 pitches and nobody complains about him coming out. Articles like this go with the other article about lack of attendance, If people are telling/writing about how the fans are too stupid to understand how complex and ahead of the curve the Twins really are we are probably not bright enough to figure out how to even buy tickets.

The Keirsay that is 0 - 7 with 5 K's, and looked so over matched on Wednesday, he looked grateful just to foul off a pitch, give that guy more of a chance? No Thanks, he is perfect in the last man off the bench role (pinch runner, defensive replacement)

not disagreeing with you, and haven't been to many Wolves games, but it does feel like you never really have to go outside if you are parking in the ramps. With the Twins there are the ramps in right field, but other than, it does feel like parking is further or waiting for the train. To be honest, I think people say they don't feel safe because it safe way to say I don't want be in MPLS without explaining the real reason (probably political) they don't want to be there, because what kind of jerk tries to make somebody feel bad for saying they don't feel safe?
-
"but the process had logic behind it." Why not also bring up how bad Ober has been against the Royals in the past? It was a silly decision and it cost the Twins an important win. It would be understandable if the plan was Sands, Jax/Duran for the final 3, but Jax wasn't available. It would also be understandable if Ober had been pitching in stressful situations though out the game, but if not for a Miranda error in the 5th the Royals would not have had two bases runners since the first. We have no idea what would have happened if they left Ober in, but we do know the results of taking him out after giving up 5 hits in 1 walk in 6 innings with only 73 pitches and there is not amount of magical mystical data that proves it was the correct decision. Did I miss the article that said there would have been logic for pulling Ryan after six the night before?

I agree with you on safety, but the Wolves have Ant and a have been spending money on trying to win, the Wild are the different because it is the state of hockey, the Vikings play 9 home games. The Twins don't have that star power, they play a boring brand of baseball and there are 162 games. If Jenkins, EROD or some early 20's guys that had a hall of fame type tragedy it would help, might not overcome everything but it would help, nobody except a few people on here care to watch Keirsay, Gasper, Vazquez or any of the unproven 26+ unproven players. Edit Add - I will add that while most people I know believe that downtown is safe, most also don't like giving MPLS any of there money.
-
I agree with most of this (lineup manipulation I don't), they have nobody exciting to watch, all the young guys that are supposed to be exciting get hurt (as well as Buxton) They play a very boring brand of baseball with no real youth (like they had with Buxton, Berrios, Sano, Polanco, Rosario), I can watch any game I want on TV an find myself tuning into the young Jackson's because just just never know what you are going to see. As for attending, there is little to no chance I am paying for a ticket to watch this team play, if I do go to a game it will be to watch the other teams guys.
